Pieces now exist for budget balancing trickery they do sometimes (ie. one theme makes a piece, pieces, and then it's cheaper to make NEW pieces in a different theme). Is that that a mould issue, rather than a colour issue?
BacktoBricks Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 It could be an error, but Promobricks has three of the Moments books on its recent end of year EOL list; the Potions book is now on the list too. So that would leave just the Transfiguration book. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone still wants that one and thought they had more time.

1234567892022 Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 I find it hilarious that Build a Bear, which sells talking teddies to kids, thinks it’s appropriate to advertise a quest to collect the horcruxes and sell them as accessories, but Lego can’t make sets around them.

Technically they are incorrect as the sword of Gryffindor isn't a horcrux. It's even the opposite as it can destroy horcruxes. Would've been better to call it something else like Founder attributes or something. EDIT: I just noticed that the colours used for Gryffindor in combination with the lion reminds me of Belgium. But all of those items have appeared in Lego sets... And the Diary and Nagini have appeared too... As well as a load of Harrys! The only one we're missing is the ring.

Amen! If they can make Thanos, someone that (temporarily) committed mass genocide on half of the galaxy, they shoudl be able to make more horcrux-themed sets. Slap 18+ like on the Star Wars Meditation Chamber, and viola, Happy customers with lots of money to spend.
1234567892022 Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Does anyone know when Home Alone will be announced?

Unless they want to role play Harry being left alone and has to fight off two dark wizards. Oh the humanity! And they don't even mention the word Horcrux until Half Blood Prince right? So that is interesting, since most kids that are into Build a Bear likely wouldn't know what a Horcrux was since most aren't that far into the series by that age (only an assumption).

Or if Kevin was the Chosen One...of course he'd be a good-guy Slytherin...and would get into more trouble than Harry ever did!
Textorix Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 I have connected this amazing Bell Towers MOC by talented JL.Bricks to my Hogwarts layout. Looking at how well it looks with Astronomy Tower I must say that not making this set after succes of 2018-2020 Hogwarts line was wasted opportunity for this theme. Now the castle looks almost accurate with exception of Clock Tower which should face the opposite direction to Great Hall but that variant wouldnt do it justice as I want Clock Tower to be seen. Huge challenge is ahead of me which is how am I gonna connect rumored Hospital Wing to this... I will try to figure it out once we get official pictures.

That said, I still don't get why everyone's suddenly decided we're not getting the Bell Towers just because we didn't get them in 18-20. I mean, those ARE 8x8 towers, and, with LEGO doing several Hogwarts sets a year in this new style (and with the Clocktower already done, and as a mid-range set), LEGO needs to cover more of the castle than ever before, and the Bell Towers are a perfect candidate for a ~$100 set in this style, like the CoS was this last year. I never really expected to get them after 2020, but I think they're a shoo-in with the new style.
LegoDakin Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 It looks really great having all the sets released so far together even with the change from the 18-20 style to now

You are really getting the silhouette of the castle. Excellent use of the 2021 wave too. I may try and build this in reality if I ever get the room. I've said it before but honestly the MOCcers in this community are SO good at taking the brand and creating new builds out of it, it doesn't matter that LEGO have given up on the design/have not released it yet, because the community are doing just as good a job at creating the additional pieces of the castle!! There are some insanely good MOCs on Rebrickable under the Harry Potter section. Edited September 17, 2021 by drewdotexe

Thx and thats my point, I am not saying we wont get ever Bell Towers set but at the same time I think that after 2020 Astronomy Tower there was perfect opportunity to release Bell Towers set in the same style which would finish the castle and give us complete silhouette of Hogwarts. 2021 sets are okay and they have some great interiors but they are not accurate representation of buildings at all hence why I am using these sets as rather generic buildings to fill space between main dominants of Hogwarts castle. 1 hour ago, drewdotexe said: Your render looks amazing. Thank you, I havent built this in reality yet but once I get all sets I am currently missing I will make this castle reality. Also I agree with you about MOC builders. I have seen so amazing Lego HP MOCs on Rebrickable that some of them even look like official sets by Lego. There are some really beautiful Diagon Alley expansion buildings which I would love to get if we dont get anything from Lego next year. Edited September 17, 2021 by Textorix

This is the first I have heard of Rebrickable but LOVE how they have turned COS into a base for the old great hall. Is it just a case of signing up on the website and paying for what presumably is an email they send you with full building instructions??? 2 minutes ago, chrisincanada said: This is the first I have heard of Rebrickable but LOVE how they have turned COS into a base for the old great hall. Can I ask roughly what it costs to buy all the pieces to make these Diagon Alley expansions? presumably you had to use Bricks n Pieces to get them and I wonder if it is something I could have a go at, they are stunning!

Yes, you make account on rebrickable, buy instructions to model and thats it. If you want to know price of the pieces to make some model (and you have account on Bricklink) you can simply just click on add to partlist (or sth like that) and it will connect with Bricklink site where you can look at how much those parts cost and buy them.

Awesome thank you, I was worried I would have to go through and manually order every brick but if I can upload them all in 1 go to order, that's great.

I wont lie, around £120-£150 per build, thats with the creators (scarletpatronus - on instagram) stickers from eBay and instructions. The price is for no fault of the designers, a lot of that is shipping costs as well. Its pricey buuuut I dont really have any other hobbies that cost money other than books, and I would save up for a month or two before doing one. And I like them more than some of the official sets to be honest. You could probably get the price down by sorting the partlist and not doing the interiors if you are having it outward facing! I bought all parts from BrickLink, like Textorix said it goes into a wishlist and you have their algorithm find you a good price without having to search yourself. I do it all through PayPal too which is good. Edited September 17, 2021 by drewdotexe

I think these 8 new shops added to the existing DA on one long shelf will look amazing. And I agree...some of these are better than Legos.
Brick Clicker Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 Last set of the year most likely: 40452 Gryffindor Dorm Room GWP. Includes Ron and Harry minifigures. GWP from the 25th of October until November 7th with $100 spends on Harry Potter.

Balrogofmorgoth Posted September 19, 2021 Posted September 19, 2021 Sounds like a neat little set, as a HP theme completionist I’ll have to make sure I get one
