However I don't think it will happen because Lego is the king of inconsistency and doing the illogical, plus unfortunately I don't think Ron on his own would sell as well even with the lower price point for the single figure. I think Harry is probably the draw of the set for the majority of buyers; I myself would not normally have gone for this type of set as I love minifigures and location based sets, but it was Harry in his cape that got me. As it is I just display him rather than the duo, but if I could get Ron I would definitely display them all together. I'm not sure it's so much a question of inconsistency as having the advantage of market research we're not privy to, especially as I've noticed other manufacturers treating the trio similarly, with Ron as an afterthought, if at all, or in need of an extra selling point. Lego bundled Dumbledore with Ron in the original HP brickheadz, Paladone only offers the Harry and Hermione egg cups here, or funko includes more of the potions classroom with Ron in the mini moments line (the latter for the same price, btw). Budgets are things, both for stores with limited inventory / shelf space and for their customers, who unfortunately often have to pick and choose their purchases. If a customer could only buy one of the trio, I suspect most males would gravitate towards Harry and the females would be split between Hermione and Harry, with neither group favouring poor Ron. (Sample size of one, but personally I own the Hermione keychain and neither of the boys. I also built and displayed the Hermione maxifig and left Harry in the bags, and while I purchased both the Hermione and Harry brickheadz, I gave the Ron / Dumbledore set a pass because I'd already spent more than I'd originally intended on lego that year, and that reflects my priorities.) While that's all anecdotal and only my guess, Lego has had those brickheadz and the keychains to help gauge individual sales, and I doubt it's coincidence that they released a Hermione polybag instead of a Ron, or included her in the maxifig set instead.
Clone OPatra Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Personally, also owning the Maxifig set, I've felt it should've been just Harry, and then if it sold well, they could've released Hermione and Ron either individually or as a two-pack. The price is steep for a new concept, and Harry and Hermione do not make a natural pairing. A single-figure $60 set would've been much more palatable, and Harry works just fine on his own. If a single-figure set didn't sell well then they'd definitely know that there wasn't enough interest on the concept, whereas with the set we got the same can't necessarily be said because some customers could've though "well, I like them, but I'm not going to spend a whole $120 on that".

Legoman123 Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 So once this 20 year anniversary is over we’re probably going to go back to the 2018-2020 version of Hogwarts?
Felkin Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 "Something very special indeed for Harry Potter fans"... My dream would be announcing an updated LEGO Harry Potter video game, using the new mechanics for the Skywalker Saga game and with the newer character designs from the revived HP theme. Worst case scenario, they're announcing the winner of the fan designing contest. Either way, it's exciting times!

To me it makes no sense at all considering how much more we needed to complete the old 2018-2020 style. We got the Astronomy Tower then 1 year later they are rebooting it all.

I don't, but falconfan posted it on his page. I can't really say why, but I guess they wanted to bring back nostalgia from first sets. Sort of a gift for both elderly and youth (new sets are more focused on interior and play features, which makes it far more interesting for children to play with)
BrickBob Studpants Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 I have no idea what to make of this A new videogame like @Felkin suggests would be fantastic (pun fully intended), but there’s no way that could be coming out this year and it kind of had to, were it to tie in with the anniversary. The development team is also still busy with the new Star Wars game on top of that. Another D2C set would make little set too considering A) we just got one; and B) we surely would’ve heard about it by now. Maybe it’s some sort of event and/or announcement instead? Can’t think of anything besides these three options

This was dicussed here numerous times and it was also confirmed by designers that 2018-2020 style was only meant for short period of time and now they went with soft restart. Anyways this rumour got me hyped again but at the same time I feel like its not gonna be announcement of new big set as we would have already knew that by now. Lego HP videogame would make me happy too. 2 minutes ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Cue the ZOMG!IT’SGRINGOTTSGARGL comments in 5,4,3… Its inevitable :D Edited October 11, 2021 by Textorix
Legoman123 Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Why was it only meant for a short period of time? I hope they don’t reboot all the sets. I feel like there is so much more for them to do that we haven’t even seen yet.
Magnum Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Get everybody excited and then...reveal: It’s a big poster or a hp LEGO costume for Halloween a new set would be nice, but they don’t mention the word ‘set’.

They likely realized that sets based on first movies are selling the best between the kids so they decided for reboot to keep milking it for longer time while also letting adult fans stay hungry because they still havent released the most wanted sets like Gringotts, Shrieking Shack, 2nd Task, Deathly Hallows sets etc. 7 minutes ago, Magnum said: Get everybody excited and then...reveal: It’s a big poster or a hp LEGO costume for Halloween I wouldnt be suprised tbh. Magnum Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Well we just have to wait and see what they come up with. I just hope it arrives in time for the hp gwp. for now I’m more excited about the upcoming Home Alone set.
Tariq j Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 The Philosopher’s Stone (the film that is) was released on the 10th November. So I guess whatever the surprise is will come around then(?) A new video game would be fantastic but seems unlikely. It could be an exclusive figure or maybe an animated film like the Yoda Chronicles or something.

City gets a new police-station every year so if you call that a reboot as well, it is a yearly thing in City Lego planned a 3 year run for the HP theme as they do with most themes, then it sold even better than expected and they made it evergreen (something that only happens very rarely) so they needed to come up with a new plan=soft reboot... 1 hour ago, BrickBob Studpants said: https://www.brickfanatics.com/something-big-lego-harry-potter-2021/ I know I should not get my hopes up, but…. It makes very little sense it is a D2C aka DA expansion, if we got that this year then most likely one of them would come in first half of the year. I would very much like to be proven wrong in this instance
doclord Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 I assume the big news can only be a remake of the video games or Gringotts (which was indeed in Sorcerers Stone, so.)

I still think it's odd having golden McGonagall (not a fig 20 years ago), Hagrid, Quirrell (only in the one book / film) and even Voldemort (not even a character in the films 20 years ago) and not the little ferret.
