Ok yea, a motorized Hogwarts Express would definitely win the most disappointing for me lol especially with how overpriced motorized trains are, it probably wouldn’t be much bigger than the one that’s already on shelves.

that being said, I don’t see that happening until the other one is retired at least

I definitely wouldn't be opposed to getting more Fantastic Beasts sets.  The the first movie was represented fairly well between the Suitcase set and the 1st CMF series, but all we got from the second movie was the Thestral Carriage from the opening scene, with nothing from the rest of the film.  One of my biggest complaints of the CMF 2 series was that it reduced the lineup from 22 to 16 and didn't include any Crimes of Grindelwald characters, so hopefully they catch up with that movie a bit next year.

Had a quick talk with my sources and they asked me to give you a piece of advice regarding the August wave: significantly lower your expectations.

Oh dear... I guess that means the $250 set isn't UCS Dobby's sock then? I'm disappointed but a bit relived. I think $400 is a better price point for the sock as it really does need to be large to get any good stitching detail.

Jokes (I'm not sure if it's a joke anymore I think I genuinely want a UCS Dobby's sock set)  aside I'm a bit relieved that we're not going to be getting much more in the August wave, I was close to selling my sealed MBOM so I'd have money to afford all of it. It makes sense though, I was always a bit suspicious of the way the prices were arranged for the August sets.

I will second @Clone OPatra and remind folks that what is disappointing or underwhelming to one LEGO Harry Potter fan, may be incredibly exciting to another. We all have different tastes and opinions.

What I appreciate about the info @Guyon2002 shared is that he didn’t say the second wave is going to be good or bad - he just said lower expectations.

In my mind, lowering expectations means don’t hold your breath for lots of new characters, molds, and prints and don’t get hung up on all of the remaining sets fitting into a predetermined theme that you were expecting (in this case Deathly Hallows) based on previous releases.

In my opinion, the most important set that we are missing right now is Gringott’s - so if I’m lowering my expectations on that I’d say there is still a good possibility it is the $250 set, but maybe there is no dragon that comes with it and just a handful of meh minifigs like Diagon Alley.

I would also be disappointed with a big Quidditch set or a bunch of other Harry, Ron, Hermione repacks like a Forrest of Dean tent. I guess time will tell...

This is a good point.  Even if we don't get exactly what some of us were wanting, the August sets will probably end up being good for whatever they are.  There is a plausible chance of getting more remake sets this year, considering that the 2018 sets were apparently expected to have been discontinued last year, considering that in addition to the Great Hall, the Whomping Willow set wasn't expected to still be on shelves when the Privet Drive set came out, but now we have two sets with the Ford Anglia available at the same time.  If we don't see more remake sets this year, we are likely to see them next year.  Remakes can still have merit if they find ways to change them up the way they seem to be doing with the Great Hall (Sharing only a few common minifigures, including new characters like Sinistra and Justin, basing it on CoS than the mostly SS based 2018 version, incorporating the Chamber of Secrets into the build and addressing the Basilisk that people complained about last time)

I heard made up that they're going to finally break the 10,000 piece count and surpass the Colosseum with the extra Ultimate UCS Dobby's Sock.

The designer videos have all given hints. It's pretty obvious, if you follow the threads.

I understand, until the name doesn't change much, for example Niffler here is "Pelúcio" haha

Ummm... my bets are:

a) Either no DH at all or a couple of sets only.

b) All this year’s sets are anniversary-themed

c) No Durmstrang ship or Gringotts

d) Remakes of the express/quidditch

e) Something completely different than expected

All in all, and I’m ready for the pitchforks, I wouldn’t mind not getting any DH or Gringotts/Ship this year. It would really really suck if we got any more remakes though. Though I wonder if the advent calendar is some sort of indicator that we’re getting sets from the first 3 movies only.

Looking at the cmf series 2, perhaps we can find some clues: normally you can put the cmf minifigs somewhere in the regular sets later on. Like Ron with butter beer in the upcoming hogsmeade set. There are three characters that don’t have a place to go yet:

-griphook

-bellatrix (Azkaban outfit)

-kingsley

(I’m not counting Harry’s parents cause you can place them in front of the mirror with Harry at the great hall set).

so griphook can go in gringotts, bellatrix in an Azkaban prison and Kingsley in Hagrids motorcycle rescue set.

The problem here is that @Guyon2002 knows exactly want most people wanted or expected in this wave, so him telling all of us to lower our expectations doesn’t bode well. Remember what he said about the June wave shortly before the descriptions got leaked, that he wasn’t that keen on some of the sets, but a lot of us would be happy (meaning the people who wanted a CoS remake, Basilisk, Fluffy, polyjuiced characters, and Hogsmeade).

Correct me if I’m wrong, but to me this indicates that (almost) none of us will be happy with the August wave. My money is on unnecessary remakes (PS Hagrid’s hut, UCS Hogwarts Express, Quidditch patch, Snape’s classroom, Hogwarts expansion we already have)

I could definitly see the set being a remake. I guess it could include some new characters (or new variants of existing characters) to make up for it.

Like I said, I am dependant on my sources as to what I can and can't share.

Well that kinda sucks that you already know and maybe some of us are right and maybe its something completely different but you just cant tell...

Well, it’s certainly not Gringotts, since that‘s what almost everyone wanted :hmpf_bad: The second most popular idea was Hogsmeade, and that’s out of the picture as well. So it has to be something nobody had on their radar before, like the suggested UCS Hogwarts Express

This is the level of nonsense I would have expected from Star Wars or Marvel. I still like both of these themes of course, but we’re used to disappointment there :snicker: I held HP to a completely different standard, which probably was a mistake. Well, never again. HP, you were supposed to destroy them, not join them! :head_back:

Could we all just stop tormenting @Guyon2002

If he could share the info he has, he would. So there's no point in asking him all those repetitive questions.

As for the August wave, I guess we just have to wait and see what "lower your expectations" means, it could either mean - little or none at all DH sets, or that they are DH sets, but either not really good as sets or boring choices for sets.

I mean if I was leaker and my source didnt want me to share some info I would have just create other account and pretend I am someone else with different source :DDD

I dont rly care that much about august wave being DH but I rly want D2C to be either Gringotts or Hogwarts battle.

That's a great way to ruin a relationship with someone.

I really appreciate the hints Guyon2002 and Falconfan drop, but you can't really blame people for asking questions though. It is to be expected if you post 'that you know which sets are coming' on a forum like this.

How would your source know that he/she is the only one that knows what sets are coming and would therefore be the only one that faces consequences, when the info surfaces somewhere as a "guess" on the internet? Falconfan and promobricks obviously know as well. Unless your source is the same designer (or Lego as a PR stunt themselves), that supplied all the others with information, your source or Lego for that matter would have no way of knowing, who exactly that person leaking the information is. Also someone could have guessed the D2C correctly in this thread already. Is that person leaking information or just lucky?

It was more like a joke from me but you are right its up to leaker if he decide to share information and his source has no way to find out who shared it.

We just have to be patient, guys :shrug_oh_well: I know I’m not the best role model in this regard, but we should try to forget about that wave for now and instead focus on the sets we do know about, especially with more potential minifig leaks on the horizon :purrr:

At least now that we know the sets will probably be pretty rubbish by this theme’s standards, we won’t be as disappointed when we finally get more information.

Imagine if @Guyon2002 and @Falconfan1414 didn’t warn us about that wave. We’d still be expecting the exact same things for months probably, only to have our hopes crushed by a set list. This way, we’re at least prepared :classic:

Ok, enough. I already gave a warning to step pestering the people with info. They share what they can and that's that. Keep it up and I'll lock the thread.

We are just theorizing here ofc they can share what they can and its up to them but okay I respect what you say.

Tbh I am really hyped for anniversary sets with my only worry being new Great Hall and how it will look like. I am pretty open to anything that comes after as I havent even finished collecting 2020 stuff yet :D

Thats a good point that at least people are prepared.

"Lowering expectations" certainly sounds to me that Gringots won't be the $250 set.  Which in some senses makes sense, because DA & Gringots at $250 makes a getting a complete DA pricey.
