I don't think he is out. He has until the 30th of this month to correct it. Surely he has been informed of this. I don't the subtraction of a few figs will hurt his overall idea. Though I am not too keen on TLC's vehicles being used in a MOC, but that is just a personal thing.

Woops! Sorry Sinner, I didn't notice that rule!

I'll go and correct that tomorrow i think, should be easy, just less Nazis and russians, thanks for the heads up!

Good to hear Batbrick will be fixing it up then, I'd hate to see him get DQ'd because of that, because the piece itself is wonderful.

Anyways, I've posted mine. Not nearly as daunting as Batbricks, but I like it (even if I never noticed the discolouration between the new and old grey until the photo's...my rooms too dark for that normally :look: )

Thanks very much, I've fixed it up now, having removed the skeletons and crystal skellies (probably better for continuity sakes) and kept the maximum of ten figs: 2 Natives, 2 Nazis, 2 Russians, Gerdhaht, Grishenko, Anya and Indy.

Anyway, onto yours BigT: I love it! I was definitely waiting for someone to do a Noah's Ark one. I always thought the idea was lame but after reading your story I have to say I was flat out wrong! The idea of desperate Nazi's using to take back the seas is ingenious, and I love the fact that they must rebuild it first. The climax sounds great too, having it fall prey to fire, very good.

As for the moc, I love it as well, so far yours is my favourite moc and is in the lead for voting. The way the baseplate is used I like, I really wish I had that one. The gunner's nest is also really neat, as it the entrance and gate, really enhance the whole thing. The best part though is the building, fantastic use of skellie legs and I love the walkway and stairs. It looks a bit like a medieval building rebuilt and converted into a fort, which may or may not be the case but either way it is very cool. Another thing I love is the sparsity of it, you didn't feel the need to saturate it with figs, and the fact that there isn't a huge amount built on it really gives the feeling to me that the real Ark station is up ahead with all the Nazis!

Overall: love the story, love the creation :cry_happy:

Thanks for the kind words. I wasn't entirely sure of the Ark idea but I always liked how the Crusade/Ark movies were centered around Christian items, and I wanted to do that again and since a few were taken...I went with the Ark. Glad I converted on on the Ark idea haha.

If you were willing to throw down a few bucks, you could probably pick one up as they came in a couple of castle sets that wern't overly popular (so you're not Pirate Ship like secondary sale prices). The ironic thing was I tore down an old Castle I had built on the set to build this, so the medieval thing is perhaps truer than you realised . Admittedly I would have liked to have thrown down a few more Nazi figures on the set but they were all the ones I had, so that would have led to the sparse use of figures, but glad to see it worked for you haha.

I had contemplated building the Ark discovery instead of this using the baseplate, but I didn't want to tear down my Sail Barge lol. I doubt it'll beat your workmanship, but happy to see I'll win over a few hearts

Actually, the Ark is a very good idea. :sceptic: It's true that the first and third movie revolve around objects from the bible, and some of the other entries here do too (Staff of Moses, Spear of Destiny, Throne of Christ, etc.), so I was thinking about doing something with Noah's Ark as well, but since I'm on vacation and don't have access to lego for a while :cry_sad: , you beat me to it. :hmpf_bad: Now, with pretty much all the Christian items taken, I will have to think of something else. :sceptic: Perhaps an item from a different religion, or a mythological object or place. :look: I'm playing with thoughts like "IJ & the Power of Midas" or "IJ & the Fountain of Youth" right now. I really like the idea of building a fancy fountain and a nice temple-like location for it, but it's power (and therefore the story) is too similar to that of "the Last Crusade". :hmpf_bad: Well, we will see...

Btw, Big T, if you still want to build the Ark renovation scene without taking your Sail Barge apart, I would suggest using something like the ship wreck from that one Aquaraiders set or MOCing something similar! :sweet: If you don't have that set, you can still get it; I think the Aquaraiders are on sale somewhere.

IMO, your current entry is a little too simple for being so large. :sadnew: Sorry!

Everyone else: Good job! Some nice movie premises and MOCs out there! Keep it up!

i Just Entered for the hell of it. Comments?

Nice story & nice MOCs. But you should make up your mind about which one to enter.

Nothing says you can't still use the Ark idea. I'm sure you'd have a different take on it. Fountain of Youth...I do like the sound of that, and I love fancy fountain lego

Hmm, might have to have a look at some pics of it, doesn't ring a bell (didn't really pay much attention to the Raiders bar one of the smaller sets) but thanks for the idea.

Don't apologise for having a valid opinion mate.

Maybe I'll enter it. I'm searching for a mythical object and I'll write the story as soon as I can. Have to make something quick, I think it will be possible for me to enter, we'll see. :classic:

I have something: Indiana Jones and the Golden Fleece.

The government of Greece has contacted a famous archaeologist for a new quest. This time Indiana Jones has to find the Golden Fleece, a mythological fleece which said to represent royal power to the one who has it. Indiana sets

immediately sail to Greece, but the government of Russia is also after this mighty object and they aren't affraid to use violence. Like Jason and his band of Argonauts did, Indiana Jones and his new compagnons have to do three different tasks to obtain the Golden Fleece, including the defeat of the dragon that guards the Golden Fleece.

Would that be good enough? Then I'll make tomorrow or later the scene with the dragon and Indiana with his friends: Luna and Rick. Now I just have to make a good dragon...

Great entries so far, I'm not sure if I should enter after all those marvelous entries.... Maybe, I'll be lucky enough to be able to invent an interesting story before the competition ends... :sweet:

@Matn: Sounds great, but dragons aren't part of Greek mythologie. You could use a hydra or a minotaur instead.... or both...

A rule has been modified.

Only real LEGO brand parts are allowed, with three exceptions; you may use up to 10 custom decals/painted pieces, non-LEGO string, and/or custom sails. By LEGO parts I mean anything made by TLG. This includes all baseplates, stickers, and even bionicle boxes. Feel free to use the old table with a glued baseplate if you want!

The legends says that Jason had to do three tasks to get the Fleece:

- Curb the firebreathing bulls and plough with them a field

- Plant dragon teeth, and defeat the army that grew from those theeth (that did Jason by throwing a magical stone in their middle)

- Defeat the always watching dragon that guards the Fleece

I'll make something this afternoon. :classic:

Actually, it's been done already! :sceptic: Click here to see where. The Spear of Destiny too btw, Mescheper. :sadnew: But since these are comics and not movies, I guess it's OK to say that these are original movie ideas!

This gave me an idea, btw. If you guys are OK with it, I will go with either the Fountain of Youth or the philosopher's stone! :sweet:

The Fountain promisses a great MOC.

The stone promisses a more original story.

I can't make up my mind! :tongue:What do you think I should go for?

Ahh I feel like I screwed something up. Its only my second day (Although I have frequently visited for over 4 months now), so I cant help but to think I am doing something stupid.

Well technically an artifact alone doesn't mean it has already "been done" as the story involved will be completely different, as the artifact is merely the MacGuffin, as opposed to making unoriginal. Thus, I could include a second search for the Ark as a story and that wouldn't make it unoriginal because of Raiders, as my story would pan out completely different

As for your entry, I'd go philosophers stone, unless you can make an interesting way to do the fountain story so it isn't another "eternal youth" story like Last Crusade. Either way, go for it!

I entered, thanks to the rule modification. :classic:

Very nice entry SirNadroj, I always liked the Golden Ants moc. I have to say thoug,h i'm a little sad you entered it, I was looking forward to a new moc from you :cry_sad:

Oky Wan, i think you should do the fountain of youth choice, it sounds like a great idea! I was considering doing that, but i found Greek mythology more interesting. umm... dont read this if you havent seen POTC: AT worlds end.

At the end of that movie, Jack finds the map to the fountain of youth, but i hope to god they dont make a 4th pirates movie, the 3rd sucked... but as an Indy movie, lots of oppurtunity is availible here.

But the two contests were almost exactly the same, it was just easier for me. Plus I'm swamped. I've got so much on my plate right now, I'm forgetting what I need to do!

Sinner, I had a question about the entry process.

Mine has a few 'play' functions where I'd like to show before and after (eg trapdoor opening, before and after etc), but rather than just linking to a brickshelf folder of images without notes, I wanted to put links in the story to an image where I wanted to show it in more detail and in narrative order. Ie, have the three main pics only in the entry but then link parts of the text to specific brickshelf images. That way it would be optional for the viewer to look in more detail if they wanted to without violating the three pictures rule. Does this make sense? I wouldn't be saying 'click here' - it would just be within the story itself. eg, 'Indy hooked his whip on a gnarled branch and dragged himself onto the rocky outcrop. Before him he could see an incredible vista' [insert main pic 1 here]

Otherwise I'd like to just do a separate contest entry thread and link to that from the main Indy Contest thread but I'm not sure since we're supposed to be keeping entries succinct that that is in the spirit of the contest.

Advice appreciated!

I have no problem with that. To me the point of the "three pictures only" rule is so it doesn't take too long to load the page. If your entry is good enough for people to feel motivated to look at the other pictures then it probably deserves it! You are allowed to make a separate topic as well if you want. Do remember though that a lot of voters never go past the thumbnail...
