Hey, it's no worse than Batbrick and I. No, really, it isn't even in the same league!:blush:

 , no, it ain't really anything on us, we had to get our own thread!

Anyway, thanks for the review Mr.Mandalorian, this set looks quite nice. I love the overall look, and it has many fantastic features and great modding potential. That said, like Brainbox, I won't be getting attached to it, I have my eye on the Crystal reaper.

Batbrick away!

Thanks for your great review! :sweet:

I have mixed feelings why the box art looks so cool and tempting. But the actual set, it's not what I had really expected. I expected the white spacecraft to be filled with much details such as the laboratory. I agreed that abit of MOC on the craft will eventually looks much better.

Anyway, I hope were not breaking Forum protocol by not discussing the 7644 review of the original poster or that particular set in general. :look:

Not really. We haven't got a firm rule on that at the moment, but the way I see it is asking an off topic question in regard to something a member posted is OK providing that it's something that others might care about. (Asking "are you free next week" is something that should be done via PM. ) When you start asking questions about the off topic replies or questions about topics that weren't even mentioned that's when it starts risking ruining the actual topic.

Thanks for the clarification. Its been my experience that different sites and forums have differing rules about these things, some more strict than others. So I'm very happy to know I'm not banned or anything else yet, and I'll definitely review the guidlines here as should everyone else.

Well that's the problem; we don't have any posted guidelines at the moment. But we are working on them... We don't want them to kill any fun however with a big list of rules so writing them has been hard.

(I better drop this point before that Sinner guy complains... )

I want them both!

The little guy is pretty cute, and well built. My only gripe is that there's nowhere to spin the drill! :oh3: It seems so lifeless without a feature...

Wait, nothing to spin the drill? That's outrageous! you just got to spin it a little more! That or get a bigger drill!

But in all seriousness, some mods with some gears could fix that.

when i saw the first pics of the set quite some time ago, i thought it looked pretty nice. I'm not so convinced about that anymore, now that i've seen it from upclose. they tried to turn it into an "ice planet - the next generation space ship" but it lacks some degree of sophistication. It's not just the giant wing, it's the large number of big parts in general... And swooshing this thing around, in the nude or not, is just not on...

Great review, I'm a huge SW and MM fan and have recently got the new RGS. my dilema now is is this worth getting too to go with my crystal reaper and UD Walker? it does look pretty similar but has anyone got both to be able to fairly compare? thanks for any help

I think this is a great set. For the model and for pieces. I will buy if it goes on sale. Lego has to many better sets for me this year. I do think some of the modules could use some tweaking but overall this is a good set in a strong 2008 lineup for MM.

Hm, needs more firepower.

This needs more firepower? It has 16 of those bars(ha ha.. :hmpf: ) with lasers attached! Not mentioning the KRUMP-11 rocket launcher and the other lasers! :cry_happy:

I've seen the MT-61 Crystal Reaper and the MT-201 Ultra-Drill Walker, and the MY-201 Ultra-Drill Walker is MUCH bigger! BTW my friend has the Reaper and I have the Walker, and we compared them both.

P.S. The Reaper is still awesome!

The UD Walker is by FAR the best choice.

Yea, I have the UD walker, and its AWESOME!! :cry_happy:

But I've seen the Reaper, and it has a lot of cool features too. Not mentioning more Astros! I just don't understand why the Reaper has more Astros.. :hmpf_bad:

This set, though unlike them, brought back memories of childhood when I was able to finally get my hands on the flagships of each line. It was a lot of fun to put together, and to me, a great value for my money.

I know what you mean. I 'm hoping for the Ultra Drill Walker and Hypersonic Operations Aircraft for Christmas. I can't wait to build and display them with the rest of my Mars Mission sets.

I've yet to get the UDW. I need to grab it soon to complete my collection from this line. So far though I only see it at Legoland. And since I'm also seeing Pirate sets there, I may be hard pressed to shell out the cash for it when I've got so many other temptations.

It looks like we'll have to big Mars Mission goodbye, and welcome in the new Space Patrol!

Even though Space Patrol is more promising than MM, I'm going to miss this theme. It was underrated. Awesome designs, great parts too.

Time to complete our collections and make way for Space Patrol!

As with the disappearance of any theme Mars Mission's departure will be a bittersweet goodbye. Its main contribution being that it brought LEGO Space back after a lengthy absense, even though some of its sets showed great potential but didn't quite hit the mark, or its color scheme being the subject of ridicule for some.

With that I bid Mars Mission farewell and wish it great success on its last holiday season. And after the new year arrives and the last MM sets disappear off closeout shelves, I'll be eager in wait for the next chapter in LEGO Space, Space Patrol!
