christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 These are the Viking sets that I bought from Bricksworld yesterday (July 8th). Too bad, 7017 Viking Catapault versus the Nidhogg Dragon hasn't arrived yet. First and foremost, 7019 Viking Fortress against the Fafnir Dragon Different views of the box: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery....y.cgi?i=1293141 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery....y.cgi?i=1293143 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery....y.cgi?i=1293144 There are 10 bags of LEGO bricks and a piece of stickers which has 4 patterns. The building steps are: Step 1: Minifigure (Bag 1) Step 2: Fafnir Dragon (Bag 2) Step 3: The front gate of the fortress (Bag 3) Step 4: The base of the primary catapult (the back section) (Bag 4) Step 5: The primary catapult (Bag 5) Step 6 (x 2): The sides of the fortress (Bag 6 x 2) 3 x unlabelled bags: The 2 bags which contain brown walls are for Step 6 The other one contains wings for Fafnir Dragon and gates for Step 4. There are 6 minifigures and a treasure box with 4 green diamonds inside. Here comes the Fafnir Dragon. . . . . Its head is such a brilliant design. The jaw and fires can be flexed. This is . . . . . . its child? Quote
christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 Now, the fortress. . . . . The front gate . . . . . . Gate opened . . . . . . The side of the fortress (both sides are identical) The view from behind Inside the fortress (behind the gate) It's pretty empty on the sides . . . . . . This is the base of the primary catapult. It has a prison cage which . . . . . . . . . . . . can be opened at the front The linking of fortress is done by using the red 'Plate 1 x 2 with Arm' and the red 'Plate 3 x 2 with Hole'. Quote
The Middleman Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Hey Chris! Great review, you took the burden off my shoulders for once. ;) Just use 'tags' around your link - {img} at the beginning and {/img} at the end - just replace those brackets with [ and ]. Quote
christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 The primary catapult (viewed from top) . . . . . . . . . . . . is fired by pressing down on the red 'Tile 2x2'. This is one of the two secondary catapults on both sides of fortress. That's all for set 7019. Quote
christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 Like this " {IMG}http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1293200{/IMG}", right? But the picture doesn't show up? Quote
The Middleman Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Like this " {IMG}http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1293200{/IMG}", right? But the picture doesn't show up? Like I said, replace {} with [] - I can't show you what it looks like if I use the real text, so I had to use substitutes. Quote
christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 Ok. When i used the IMG button, the link was like these "[ IMG ]http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1293200[ /IMG ]". So, it's in the correct form, right? [] is correct and {} is wrong, right? But when I posted, the following message will appear " Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed " I'm fed up already. Quote
The Middleman Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Oh, duh! Sorry. The reason it won't work is because you're using the Brickshelf image page, not the deep link for the image. Click once again on the image so that that's the only thing you're seeing, no borders or anything, and use that link. Quote
christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 It works. . . . . . thank you, Bloody_Jay. One more question: Can I edit what I posted before? I want to change all the hyperlink to pictures. Play on . . . . . . Quote

christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 Here's the picture review fro 7018 Viking Ship challenges the Midgard Serpent Before building . . . . . . The inside of the box: The back of the box: Here comes the Midgard Serpent . . . There are 6 minifigures: Quote
christopher110 Posted July 9, 2005 Author Posted July 9, 2005 The side view of the Viking Ship: The bird view of the Viking Ship: The front of the ship: The catapult of the ship: It has 4 red 'bullets'. Each time only one bullet can be fired. The lowest bullet fired 1st, then the 2nd lowest, . . . and the highest bullet will be the last to be fired. The sail: The middle section of the ship: The back section of the ship: The back of the ship: The cage is pulled by a trolley system. If the light-grey-stick (with brown and dark-grey at both ends) is pulled up, the cage will fall freely to the floor of the ship. Quote

I forgot to measure. But the www.LEGO.com did provide some measurement. I'll measure it later and post it tomorrow night. I'm going to my grandma's now. By the way, where's the EDIT button? Governor Mister Phes Posted July 11, 2005 Governor Posted July 11, 2005 Chris, this is a great photo review! Very comprehensive and you've even remembered the little details like the baby dragon and roasting chicken. These photo reviews are a good idea as they show the sets at different angels and magnifications offer alternative perspectives that the official pictures and toy fair pictures didn't provide. Quote
chewie Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 one question how well does the catapult on the viking long boat shoot? Quote

Cyclonis Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Hey, excellent review! I know that you're probably sick and tired of taking so many photos, but can you please give us a photo of the Wolf in the small set. I'm thinking of buying multiple copies of that set, and I'd like to know what the wolf looks like. If your feeling generous, can you take a pic of the viking that comes with it aswell? Thanks a bunch. -Cyclonis. Quote
