Dreamweb Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 The Vikings are now available in shops in my country (Poland) as well. I think I'll buy one set for now just to try them out :) Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Bought the smaller boat too. And I ordered the fortress for only 59 euros (!) Quote
KimT Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 There's only one thing to say: "If You haven't got 'em - get 'em" It's a perfect theme for once and my money is put on several Viking sets to come in the future. There's only two things that bother me... The helmets - why the h*** did they (TLC) only make one type? - need different helmets (other than colour) and the other thing is that those helmets they did make don't stick to the heads of the minifigs very good - THAT'S BAD LEGO SHAME ON YOU. *sick* KimT Quote
christopher110 Posted August 17, 2005 Author Posted August 17, 2005 and the other thing is that those helmets they did make don't stick to the heads of the minifigs very good - I do feel the same way too. . . Too bad that the helmets are so loose. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I agree on that one. Don't like the helmets and the KK swords. Plus, I think the actual Viking buildings aren't spectacular. I'm buying these sets for the minifigs and the monsters... Quote
blueandwhite Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 These sets look incredible! Its too bad that we have to wait so long to see them in Canada. I must say, the torso prints are amazing, and it is nice that LEGO didn't skimp on the prints for the minifigs wearing armour (unlike KKII). I'm not big on the monsters themselves, but the set designs seem to be nice for the most part. Overall, this is the nicest line LEGO has released since the Star Wars line! Go figure. Quote
gusmoore17 Posted September 15, 2005 Posted September 15, 2005 :oD Awesome sets, aren't they????? Thanks a lot, now I have to wait until October to buy this sets from USA to Mexico, yeahh Quote
keetongu Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 Dragon babies come from dragon eggs.Nice review Christopher110. ;) Quote

Zane Posted September 27, 2005 Posted September 27, 2005 Hm. Now I want all the Vikings. Again. Thanks a lot. |-/ Just kidding, seriously though, nice reviews. In what order would you rate the sets, i.e 1 being the highest? Quote
christopher110 Posted September 28, 2005 Author Posted September 28, 2005 Before I bought the sets, I thought the order would be: 1. Viking Fortress 2. Viking Ship 3. Viking Catapult 4. Viking Boat 5. Viking Knights and the wolf However, after i've bought the sets and seeing the real things: 1. Viking Ship 2. Viking Fortress 3. Viking Catapult 4. Viking Boat 5. Viking Knights and the wolf What do you guys think? Quote
The Middleman Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 1. Viking Fortress 2. Viking Ship 3. Viking Boat 4. Viking Warrior 5. Viking Catapult Quote
Zane Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Hm...the boat is rated highly. Surprising. BTW Are there any alternate model ideas for the ship and the fortress? And if so, could someone post scans? Quote
sam89 Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I don't have a lot of space, so I doubt I could get the Fortress AND the Ship, but I could probably get either of those two sets with some smaller sets. So if I were to buy some Viking sets, what would everyone recommend? Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Definitly go for the boat and the Fenris wolf Sam ;) These are fantastic sets !!! Quote
MattZitron Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 Definitly go for the boat and the Fenris wolf Sam ;) These are fantastic sets !!! *viki* I concur. I'd say to avoid the catapault its the most disappointing. The longboat, Fenris and the short boat are great! Haven't got the fortress. Quote
jonfett Posted October 2, 2005 Posted October 2, 2005 I own the 3 smaller sets and IMO Fenris is great! Probably the funnest set (and the cheapest). The captapult is really neat too! I want to buy the ship, and I'll probably get it soon as its still Quote
christopher110 Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 The ship ranks the highest because of the chicken-grilling inside the ship..... (hahaha, I'm that simple) The fortress comes in 2nd is an unavoidable consequence as i always prefer the larger (or largest) set in the theme. The catapult ranks higher than the boat and the warrior is solely due to the dragon.... I like its colour..... though it looks a bit small compared to the dragon of the fortress set. So, I would recommend u to buy the boat cos u get two small boats in a reasonably priced set. (though i dislike the dragon of that set) Quote

The dragon is fantastic. The catapault itself is a bit lame. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 1: Longboat 2: Catapult 3: Warrior vs. the Wolf 4: Fortress 5: Small boat Quote
Zane Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Hey, does anyone know what the chain on the Catapult is for and what the Fortress's dimensions are? BTW There are 360 spins on S@H for the fortress and Ship. Check 'em out! Quote

Check 'em out! The dimension of the fortress: Length: 40cm or 15.8inch (from base plate of right side to base plate of left) 44cm or 17.4inch (horns on the walls are taken into consideration) Width: 40cm or 15.8inch (from base plate of front to base plate of backside) 48cm or 18.9inch (horns on the walls and catapult are taken into consideration) I'm not sure about the function of the chain on 7017. Perhaps in the real world, it serves as something like the string on a bow to fire the 'elbow'.....but in the 7017, it does not have any function. Just some guesses. :-D When I think of Vikings people, ships and boats will come into my mind. Therefore, it's not suprised a lot of people (including me) would rate the 7016 and 7018 higher than other set. Quote
Zane Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Thanks! Also, if it's not too much hassle, do you know the dimension of it's box too? Quote
christopher110 Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 Thanks! Also, if it's not too much hassle, do you know the dimension of it's box too? No problem at all, the dimensions are: 576 x 384 x 96 mm Quote
Kahgarak Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Nice pictures, they are all great sets! Quote
