brickbitz Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 So I stopped by my local TRU today and I spotted this set in an opened box near the LEGO shelves. I thought I'd save them the trouble of having to put it out and bought it straight away. As usual read the full 7628 Peril in Peru review over at Brickbitz Quote
Plural Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the review brickbitz. I'll try and snap this set up. I still can't remember it from the movie though. Quote
The Rancor Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the review also brickbitz! I thought when I found the instructions that it must be available soon, and here it is! I will most likely NOT get this set because I need all the money I can get for Clone Wars Lego Quote
Joey Lock Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Do you live in the UK? I wanna get loads of sets, This, Clone wars, Agents... Quote
brickbitz Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Do you live in the UK? Yes, it was the TRU in Ipswich. Quote
Tacitus Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 I still can't remember it from the movie though. Plural, this is just a model of the cargo plane that Indy and Mutt use to travel from the US to Peru. In the movie, it is mostly seen with a world map as a backdrop, and with a red line trailing behind it. There is also a scene of Indy and Mutt inside the plane- Indy is falling asleep, and Mutt is checking the fasteners on his motorcycle. Quote
mammymarf Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Nice review what I hate is they keep using the same heads for the commies! the plane is awesome I do remember seeing the plane but as tacitus said not in a scene with all these people.(maybe it's a deleted scene?) the review is great god job I wonder if it will come to the US? Quote
Ogel111 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 nice review all have to pick up this set when it comes to the us. Quote
Asuka Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for that nice review, brickbitz. It´s a very interesting set for sure. The plane itself looks really wonderful, and together with these other nifty vehicles it´s a fine playset for sure. Although I guess there´re some a little weird flaws in the design, perhaps, like the strange use of these mudguard pieces on the tractor, and even if these trans black sloped pieces work very smooth they´ll make an interior pretty cramped as well. Why they didn´t simply use these plane window pieces like with the bigger passenger planes.... I don´t know. I´m not sure if they would affect the neat curved look of the plane that much at all.... Anyway, it´s very cool to see such a nice medium sized plane built in an a little more 'oldfashioned' way with a retractable landing gear, even if you (ahem, the MFs) can´t walk through or use a full sized door. Joey Lock Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Ha ha ha Americans! We have a Lego set before you for once! Hopefully its a UK Exclusive! Quote
Zarkan Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for another great review, brickbitz. I like this set, despite the lack of new figures and the lack of an interior in the plane. All the vehicles are great, and there seems to be a ton of acessories. Now, the real question is - where did we see this in indy 4? (we didn't) Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the review, it looks a good set. Can I ask if the 3 for 2 in Indy Lego applies in store or only online? Also would it be possible to get a few shots with the stickers on and of the box art? Quote
brickbitz Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the review, it looks a good set. Can I ask if the 3 for 2 in Indy Lego applies in store or only online? Also would it be possible to get a few shots with the stickers on and of the box art? The offer applies both online and in store but the official end date is tomorrow 5th June according to the website. Sorry but I don't do stickers at all. I'll try and get some box shots in the morning. Quote
Joey Lock Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hey could you put the Stickers on the Window? It would make it look much better, Also all the Bits together? Cheers Quote
Zzz Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Plural, this is just a model of the cargo plane that Indy and Mutt use to travel from the US to Peru. There is also a scene of Indy and Mutt inside the plane- Indy is falling asleep, and Mutt is checking the fasteners on his motorcycle. oh, I do hate it to be Mr Know-it-all tonight , but I just saw the movie and they actually change the plane (during the red-line-scene). The cargo plane is way smaller than this plane which resembles a Douglas DC-3, common passenger plane from the 30s. (They are in this first and then change to the smaller cargo plane) Thanks a lot for the review, Blitz! Also I like this set I do try to concentrate on the old movies though... for space and financial issues. Difficult decision, cause this brings all the important minifigs from the new movie and is a nice model.. But anyway - I was excited to see tonight (in the movie) that they used a plane that just appeared in the travel scene for a set. Might be that there was an edited scene or something, but I have so so high hopes now for the Pan Am Clipper from Raiders (which had several int and ext shots) and the Ford plane from Temple! Come on, if they made this, they have to make them (ugh, clever sentence). High hopes ON Quote
commanderbly42 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the review brickbitz! Although this set looks really good, I don't think that it actually happened in the movie at all. Like the rest of the Indie line, I'll have to give it a miss though which is a shame. When you say that the plane has no interior, do you mean that is is just empty space or do you mean that it is filled in completely with bricks? Quote
JimBee Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 wow, i didnt realize this set was so cheap! i guess i will get it, after all. i really like all of the accessories in the recent indy sets. Quote
Skinny Boy Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thats pretty good. Dunno how i'll get it though. Only TRU I know is in N. Ireland, far away Quote
Svelte Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the great review, brickbitz . Seems like the UK is doing well when it comes to stock appearing early on shelves! As to the set itself, it seems a mixed bag. The figs themselves seem a wasted opportunity though I guess as an exclusive they're not going to fork out too much for a new design. The dark green truck is nice but rather than have all the (repeated) accessories and the sword holder I would have rather had a basic interior. Keeping the price down again I guess. The plane itself looks a little odd without the stickers applied, though I guess this can be modded. However any negatives must be outweighed by the fact we have a decent-sized brick-built plane . I actually like the 2006 Passenger Plane but it is nice to see wings made from lots of pieces rather than one enormous piece. It's actually surprising that it's taken this long since so many of the SW sets have large wing sections made of smaller pieces. Quote
zero1312 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks for the review. I definately pick it up when I find it. Quote
Belloq Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hmmm, the plane looks good for a brick built plane, I like the blocky-ish feel it has. Also, it a pretty good way to cut costs, you know, no windows, just 2 huge pieces and some stickers Nice review! Quote
Batbrick Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Thanks or the review, looks like a good set. That said, I won't be getting it, as the pieces don't really intest me and planes are hard to display. The figs are also disappointing, so it looks like I'll save me some money on this. Thanks for the review though. Batbrick Away! Quote
