Ross Fisher Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 (edited) *Your entry has earned 7 XP* This is the thread for all of my "The Lone Stormtrooper" CYOA entries. For my first build I'm picking the "This town is in shambles!" option. Things quietened down a lot after that. The Clan was settling into territorial government. Gone were the days as a roving warband. I began dreaming of that retirement again... But I wasn't about to leave those guys in the lurch. Started recruiting the next generation of Mandalore diplomatic corps. And when they were ready I sent them off to handle missions across the galaxy. Make us some new friends. But, as our most experienced ambassador, I'd saved the hardest job for myself. The Iotran Expanse sits right in the middle of the area we'd earmarked as a buffer zone. Even worse; Iotrans are a highly militaristic society, and they idolised the Empire. The last thing I wanted was for Clan Eldar to find themselves dragged into a war of attrition with these guys. So I set off to find some common ground with them. Maybe a mutual-assistance treaty? Or perhaps a contract to guard something or other? All fun and games. What hopes I had died a surly death when I stepped out of the spaceport. That whole "industrial degradation" chic that most Outer-Rim docks seem to have? Yeah, that was the whole planet. Well, I figured they might have need of a talker for once, so I decided to make the rounds with the local honcho; introduce myself. I realised early on that I wanted to do quite a claustrophobic street scene, but I wanted it to be accessible for photos. So I figured the best solution was to have a street that split right up the middle: I wanted to have some decent looking Iotrans in there, too. They look like this: The Sherrif in the office has a misprint where part of the mouth wiped off. On the plus side, the remaining ink kinda looks like nostrils, so hopefully that works. The one in the turban ain't so great. Also, I know I've criticised people's chairs a lot recently, so I threw one of my own in that back office as a fair target for you guys. marvelBoy123 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Really nice! Love the cross-section and the way you have captured the "industrial degradation" is a massive improvement over past builds! Quote
n1majneb Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Chair? Chair? he clearly doesn't deserve a seat! Great build, the solution to allow access works really well here and you've captured Star Wars' used real perfectly. A real backwater dive! The cloth pieces add alot of detail here Quote
RocketBoy Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Those iotrans really are great. Very cool design with the hinges. I want to rip on your chair but it's a fine seat if ever I saw one. (Though simple, you lazy goon! There we go, I got a hit in.) Quote
MKJoshA Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 The Story: After a few wrong turns you finally find the Sheriff in his office. He welcomes you in and quickly gets to the point. Despite his best efforts, the town is largely run by local gangs and bribes to corrupt officials. The Harvester gang has been in control recently, but the Blue Moon gang has been encroaching on their territory. The Sheriff says he would be happy for the help of a diplomat such as yourself in resolving the situation. Choice: How would you like to tackle the situation? [Try to meet with the Harvester gang]Player MOC Requirements: The Harvesters are known to wear dark red and the Sheriff knows where their headquarters are. Show your character trying to gain entrance into their base. [Try to meet with the Blue Moon gang.]Player MOC Requirements: The Sheriff doesn't know where the headquarters for the Blue Moons are. Show your character meeting with one of the Sheriff's informants who has more information. [Maybe it's best to get another perspective before you go any further. Head to the local cantina to try to get the local's perspective.]Player MOC Requirements: Show your character at a local bar/cantina asking the locals about the two gangs. Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted January 23, 2021 Posted January 23, 2021 This hinge setup is really clever! I love it! Quote
Ross Fisher Posted January 27, 2021 Author Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) *Your entry has earned 4 XP* For my second build I'm choosing the "Try to meet with the Blue Moon gang" option. A human in charge of the Sherrif's office indicated serious cachet with the powers-that-be. I got a whiff of ex-imperial, but I'm not one to judge. Probably at the root of his inability to get control of his precinct, though. A lifetime in jackboots can leave you with a certain... inflexibility. Anyway, he put me onto a couple of the local gangs. The Harvesters were the established power in the region. But the Blue Moons were wrestling for the turf. It's a situation I've seen a million times; rival powers fight over the same region and, as long as they're at it, the region suffers. The way I figured, if we took the new guys out of the equation, the Harvesters could relax back into their organised crime role, and my new friend the Sherrif could focus on the petty, obvious crimes instead. So, I got the Sherrif to put me in touch with one of his informers, see if they could get me an in with the Blue Moons. He set the meet up in a graveyard - charming - and I strolled headfirst into a gang war. Edited February 7, 2021 by goatman461 Quote
MKJoshA Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Story: It's a trap! The Blue Moon gang had figured out who the rat was in their group. They follow him to your meeting and take you both at blaster point. You try to resist but are knocked over the head. When you wake up you find yourself in a cell. The informant's body is in the cell with you. The leader of the Blue Moon gang comes up to the window and starts talking. He gives you a choice. He says you can become an informant for him and worm your way into the Harvest gang or you can leave the planet and stop meddling in other people's affairs. Choice: How would you like to tackle the situation? [The boss is tired of loosing his own people to the Harvest gang. He wants someone expendable to try to infiltrate the rival gang. You know this isn't exactly what the governor had in mind when he agreed to let you help. But it also seems like a good way to understand the situation better.]Player MOC Requirements: Show your character in a meeting room getting intel on known Harvest gang activity. Also show your character receiving a disguise from a Blue Moon gang member. [You realize you're in over your head. Maybe it's best to leave Iotra and let them figure out their own problems.]Player MOC Requirements: Show your character being escorted through the streets by Blue Moon gang members who are there to make sure you leave. [You try to use your diplomatic skills to turn this situation around. You offer the Boss a 3rd option. You promise that you can get him a one-on-one meeting with the leader of the Harvest gang. This is a bold faced lie, but you're sure you can talk your way out of it when push comes to shoove. The Boss laughs in your face, but there's something about your confidence he likes. He agrees to go with you to the Harvest gang's headquarters.]Player MOC Requirements: Show your character and some Blue Moon gang members at the front entrance to the Harvest gang's headquarters. dvogon Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Interesting build. I like your "round" scheme for all the build. Quote
