Hello all Wild West fans! :sweet:

I thought it would be interesting to know whether we WW fans here on EB would prefer a licensed or a non-licensed theme if TLG brings the Western theme back.

So please vote.

Comments are welcome! :sweet:

im not a big fan of wild west but if it came back i'd say non licencsed but im sure they should take inspiration from varios wild west films

Well, I am not hoping to see a licensed theme. Seriously if Wild West were to come back, and I do hope it will come back compared to the 3 limited options we had.

Just to point out, why I choose non-licensed theme. Non-licensed theme are not subjected in paying royaltes for making use of its design. I think we should TLC designers expands its thoughts and explore on its past theme. It gave them much wider perspective too. They don't have to confine limited channels. Most importantly, we don't have pay extra money for the expensive licence. Star Wars and Indiana Jones are some good examples. :classic:

Definitely non licensed.

Firstly which license would they use? Modern westerns are not overly popular these days and they're not exactly child friendly either.

Secondly there's obviously a wider ranging scope with no tie in, plus of course the already mentioned cost.

Wild West, like so many other classic Lego themes, was a great theme without a license. It provided endless opportunities for creative and unique sub-themes with endless historic and fantasy possibilities. I voted for non-license. While I'd be happy just to see a simple theme like that of WW 1996, a license linked to a good WW movie (intended for kids), would help the probability for a new WW theme. It appears that Lego Factory is our only hope right now. Let's see what transpires.

Bring back the WW!

Non-licensed of course. That way lego can unleash a lot more creativity, and there wont be fleshies :classic:

I'm not sure exactly what you'd license.

HBO's Deadwood? Not likely, way too adult.

Lone Ranger? It'd be the rare kid in Lego's target audience that would have any exposure to that.

Well the vote is quite clear at this stage with 90% being for a non-licensed theme. For me it has to be original, firstly as that will make it cheaper less with not license costs and also as mentioned Lego can be far more creative without a films restriction and thousands of the same character I have enough Indys already!

I could tell right away how this poll would turn out  . There isnt really a western movie or show that Lego could realistically liscence.

A non-liscense them, of course! TLC's already proved with the new Agents line that they can make an awesome theme based on popular culture without actually buying a liscense to movies or televison shows.

I'd love to see sets that take their cues from shows like Bonanza and many of the old cowboy classics. It would be fairly easy to do a great theme, and I sure hope it comes back! :classic:

I totally agree with you, Cardinal Brick and Grievous!

Non-license means:

-much more playability and imagination

-not that expensive

-much more possibilities for different and numerious creations

I'm curious who voted for a licensed theme and what they think should be licensed.

Steve

Definitely non licensed.

Exactly.

Not to offend but did you think of any western shows that could be licensed Klaus-Dieter? After all, it pretty much HAS to be non-licensed if there is nothing to license. Still, I would've chose non-licensed anyway.

Batbrick Away!

Klaus-Dieter, I respect your fight to restore the WW theme. I'm one of them who wants it back. But seeing a topic like this... made by YOU in particular- makes me cry. No offence, but a LISCENCED WW THEME?! With FLESHIE SKIN??!?!?! No way! Yellow Skin or else, Lego! What would they lisence it at all anyways? Buck Rogers? Too Old. 4:10 to Yuma? Too Violent. Star Wars? No joke, I'm sure they would. WW would be a lot like SW- swords in different colours like KK2, futuristic looking guns... can't wait! Sorry for the sarcasm, but honestly, it's non-lisenced or not making it at all.
