Deinonychus Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Well with the ISD I found that after being assembled for almost 2 years it had started to show some "nose droop" All that I needed to do to fix that was to take off all the super-structure sections and the hull quarters, then remove the inner-structural triangles. From there I seperated the top from the bottom, flipped them over, then clamped them back together and BINGO, no more droop. I also tore down, mixed up, and reassembeled the plates of the hull quarters, but that was more for my own piece of mind then anything else :P Quote
languages Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 Now that you have both the ISD and the Death Star, which ones the best to buy? I hopefully will have enough money to get either one at the end of the month, but I dont know which..... Quote
snefroe Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 i'd go for the ISD: it's by far the best model of both it also has better parts than the death star; sure, it's large and rather heavy, so you'll need a decent spot in your room/house but the people who saw my isd were very much impressed by it... the structure needs some modification after a while, as already mentioned by Deinonychus, but apart from that, it's a great model to have! :oD Quote
Deinonychus Posted November 2, 2005 Posted November 2, 2005 They're both impressive and wonderful sets, and the Death Star II was a little less aggrivating to build, but the Star Destroyer is the better of the two sets. It just seems to look a little cooler and makes more of a visual statement while on display. I'd get it sooner then later if I were you though. I read somewhere that LEGO was dicontinuing the Star Destroyer to sort of make way for the Death Star II...so I suspect once they sell out of the current stock of them, that'll be it. As for display space...you need a good sized area for it...luckily at the same time I assembled mine we were switching out TVs and TV cabinets and I snagged the old one for my den to put the ISD on top of...fits perfectly Quote
Legoman Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Now that you have both the ISD and the Death Star, which ones the best to buy? I hopefully will have enough money to get either one at the end of the month, but I dont know which..... i think the isd much more inpressive than the death star i think that the death star is just a round ball of grey bricks with a green thing but still a good set but the isd is even better ;) Quote
xwingyoda Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Since I finished the construction of our beloved and overpriced Crawler, I had a feeling of unfinished business ;) So I modified the model !!! Enjoy guys and comments are always welcome ;) 1) I filled in the huge gaps on the exterior keeping the same different color pattern (I really like it) and modified the already existing color pattern to create a parallel on the "lab" part Side gap: Fron gap (I know its not the same brown but I was lacking the proper color, and its still better than a hole ;) ) Quote
xwingyoda Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 2) I modified the crane part to add details and and a tile floor 3) I entirely mod the "lab" to change its look and to add tiles also Hope you like this small mod ;) Quote
MattZitron Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 I haven't got a Sandcrawler, but with your mods in the system, I MIGHT JUST. My biggest problem with it is lack of Jawas. Quote
KimT Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Nice modification :) Love the adding of tiles, it gives a great feeling of a floor..and does something for the visual feeling of the Sandcrawler. [Perhaps it's time for me to finish the construction of my own Sandcrawler...and the RebelBlokadeRunner standing in a corner of my room.] KimT Quote
Vader Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Good mods there yoda, i really like what youve done with the crane section it really looks awhole lot better now :) Quote
snefroe Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 great mods, yoda, even tho you didn't change the cockpit! >:( if it wasn't for the staggering price of the thing, i'd buy one myself... Quote
Ras 74 Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 I like the changes you have made, as all the others. Nice idea to fill that hole. I never really thought of that... I think my mind have been to occupied on the issue of how to change all the multi colours. I would like to change that on mine... when I can... Good job Yoda Quote
Hobbes Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Any of you SW-Fre... Fans seen that already? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=153938 Quote
KimT Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Tks - those customs are awesome - I just love love those custom builders. *wub* KimT Quote
Vader Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Those are good but beware as the person selling those has a reputation of being underhanded. Quote
SuvieD Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 And he charges waaaaaay to much for them. If you want a custom ask redbean or kaminoan's. The will be expensive with quality but not over priced. Quote
Vader Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 The woman who makes these has gone by more alas than palpatine, ebay has shut her down loads of times so she goes away and reinvents herself. Quote
Legoman Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 i like cody *wub* but i never have and never will buy a costom ;) Quote
Backpack3 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 same here legoman :-D . but they're so life like :o . i wouldn't be suprised if they were real. EDIT: vadr post me a link. Quote
Deinonychus Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Those are great...I especially like the Commandos and the ARCs :D Quote
babyjawa Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Do not buy from her! She has used peoples decals and not given them credit. She has been banned by ebay twice because of people complaining about her. Here first name was EZbrickz. Second was The Creature Factory, and now it is Ancient Sith Lord. Quote
Vader Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Shes been around longer than that babyjawa, as i remember seeing her work posted on various sites and she went by another name on ebay. Over the years ive read countless posts from people who have been ripped off either with a faulty decal or just havent recieved there figs, she not only uses others decals but she has also bought weapons from custom sites and claimed them as her own. The short of it is that even though the figs look good she should not be trusted and you buy from her at your own risk. Quote
jonfett Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I remember seeing this sellers store on BL, I've forgotten if they were called Ebrickz or custom minifigs or whatever it was. I first came across the store on eBay, which led me to BL and then the AFOL community (so thanks for that! ;)) Anyway, the figs looked wondeful and I always wanted to buy some, but they were around $10-15 each and I just couldn't afford it. I'm glad I didn't after all the bad things I have seen said. As for the clone above, I thought they looked pretty impressive, but of course these are the master copies! Perfectly crafted, with care and time taken over them.. this doesn't mean as much care will be taken with the ones being sold ;) Jon. Quote
Vader Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 People should also know that the decals used can be bought on there own for alot cheaper from Laminoan and are very easy to apply. Quote
