snefroe Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 the death star looks like an unfinished ball. there are almost no details, what so ever. the black board underneath it says "15000 turbolasers, 15000 heavy lasers, 7500 canons,... can anybody show me? they should have done better... the ball is simply not attractive... i really need to see more of it before taking a decision on buying this thing. and i probably won't assemble it. 8-| Quote
Darth Drew Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Well it is not as bad as I thought it would be. But still at $300, you are better off buying the many, many other great sets coming out this year. Quote
snefroe Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Sam, i'm not sure if you've noticed, but you're link only shows one page of star wars lego . i think the rebelscum gallery has at least four pages... Quote
mutley777 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 i like it but it does not have the wow factor of the star destroyer. i will get it but won't be rushing out to buy it. i think bricks would have been better than plates. Quote
mutley777 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 it is a shame none of the pics are taken from the one postion that it is ment to be seen from. i mean half finshed half work incomplete view. Quote
Stormtrooper Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I Like the set! But I live in germany that means +40% from the price of $300. ~400 Quote
sam89 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Mutley, FBTB has a side pic of it: http://www.fbtb.net/toyfair/2005/sw/ds_1_m.jpg Quote
ImperialJohn Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I think we should all "not" buy this ;) Then they would have to put it on sale :oD But it looks pretty awsome *wub* Could I have one in old grey please. :') Quote
CopMike Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 This one is on the very end of the "Must buy now"-Legolist! *wacko* I think Lego gave it a good shot but this one is in "reality" to big to make a model that gives it credit. I like the mini Star Destroyer and the green laserbeam though. When Lego has them on sale for $50 it will be a killer for greys! :-D copmike - another Swede in control Quote
ApophisV Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Hm, I really don't like it. The unfinished side just doesn't look "natural". And the hull of it is missing greeblies what makes it looking very boring. And this little Star Destroyer thing is just ugly... Sorry, we have seen so much better versions even that small. But what is that Vader fig? It's just some goodie to make the shelfes look more interesting, isn't it? Or is there a chance we will ever see this as a set? Quote
sam89 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I think it's a prize for Celebration III. Quote
mahjqa Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I think lego gave it the best shot they could. To the folks who want to see the thing built entirely out of bricks, would you shell out $1200 for that? 'cuz that's what it'd cos, and I'd doubt it'd look better. Sure, it's not as smashing as the ISD. But I think it's quite impressive nonetheless. Quote
jonfett Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I am not too keen on this set. As Apo said it looks too unfinished and the plate built sphere just doesn't work :/ I hope that this is actually a proto-type as I would love to see a lot more greeblies and other parts like on the ISD. Jon. Quote
OOM-30 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Has anyone noticed that all of the minis that have been released, have a larger counterpart: Anakin's + Sebulba's Pods -- Mos Espa Podrace X-wing + Tie Advanced -- X-wing fighter, UCS X-wing, "Dagobah X-wing", Tie fighter and Y-Wing AT-ST + Snowspeeder -- Snowspeeder, Rebel Snowspeeder, UCS Snowspeeder, AT-ST Jedi Starfighter + Jango's Slave I -- Jedi Starfighter, Jango's Slave I Tie Bomber -- Tie Bomber MTT -- Trade Federation MTT AT-AT -- AT-AT, Dark Side Developers Kit Millenium Falcon -- Millenium Falcon, "Hoth" Millenium Falcon Republic Gunship -- Republic Gunship Y-Wing -- UCS Y-Wing, Tie Fighter and Y-Wing Sith Infiltrator -- Sith Infiltrator Star Destroyer -- UCS Star Destroyer Imperial Shuttle -- Imperial Inspection, Imperial Shuttle AT-TE -- AT-TE Boba's Slave I -- Slave I Tie Interceptor -- UCS Tie Interceptor Rebel Blockade Runner -- UCS Rebel Blockade Runner Ep.III Jedi Starfighter -- Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid Super Star Destroyer -- ????? If this keeps up, we should be seeing a UCS Super Star Destroyer, or some kind of SSD :-D Quote

Remember, this is the size of a moon. And it is an unfinished ball. Can go too detailed. Quote
mutley777 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 i am really in two minds about this set. :/ i think i am just going to wait till i see it on display in my local lego store. Quote
The Dark Brick X Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I think we'll see some kind of Super Star Destroyer set before this one's out. They did it with all of the other mini's, and I think they'll do it here too... I don't really like this one though, doesn't look big enough to be worth 300 $ either.. Quote

We're already getting a UCS Death Star and Sandcrawler in the same year, I think asking for an SSD is a bit much ;) Quote
The Middleman Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Rebel Blockade Runner Star Destroyer w/ mini Rebel Blockade Runner Death Star w/ mini Star Destroyer So there is a pattern among those sets. Now what'll be the set with the mini Death Star? :P Quote
sam89 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 The one with the Death Star is a MINI Super Star Destroyer ;) Quote

The Middleman Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 The one with the Death Star is a MINI Super Star Destroyer ;) They probably couldn't MAKE a mini Star Destroyer in scale to the Death Star. :P Quote
