Posted March 11, 20213 yr Hi, Since I got the first 8-wide Speed Champions - it was the 1985 Audi Quattro - I have been modifying my collection of 6-wide Speed Champions. In this thread I will post them, but feel free to post your own too! Starting with the Ferrari F40 (75890): Ferrari F40 by Jens Peter, on Flickr Ferrari F40 by Jens Peter, on Flickr Ferrari F40 by Jens Peter, on Flickr Mercedes AMG GT3 (75877): Mercedes AMG GT3 by Jens Peter, on Flickr Mercedes AMG GT3 by Jens Peter, on Flickr Mercedes AMG GT3 by Jens Peter, on Flickr
March 11, 20213 yr Nice, these cars look really good. I just wish somebody would modify 8 stud wide cars to be six studs wide.

The conversion really works.
March 14, 20213 yr The F40 is a little boxy for my liking, but the Chiron looks amazing - excellent job! I'd put the Mercedes somewhere between the two. Nice work! Also this is my 600th post on the forum! Edited March 14, 20213 yr by Vilhelm22
April 21, 20213 yr Hi guys, so I have been thinking about converting the 6 wide Chiron to 8 studs although I want to do it in a different colour scheme. Now I can’t do it in the proper colours like the technic set as dark azure wheel fenders do not exist. I of course want to have it in dual tone colours, so I was thinking half white and half dark blue however another one of my mocs is dark blue so I’m not sure. Curious to hear some ideas.
April 22, 20213 yr Author I'd say just build it with whatever colors you have available - then you can always bricklink the parts in a different color later. I really like the yellow/black version of the Chiron, but for now I'll just keep the model i've build :)
April 26, 20213 yr Would it be possible to have this thread as just a general Speed Champions collection thread, for everyone, whatever the stud-width, without necessarily the exclusive 8 - wide rule? Or is there already a 6 - wide thread? Apologies if there is and I just haven't found it. I very much enjoy the challenge of restricting myself to the 6 - wide Speed Champs scale. Using just original Lego stickers and pieces. And really, in that sense my 'creations' are only ever really slight modifications to the original design philosophy of the six- wide scale models. As you can see, I only really enjoy making quite subtle modifications to the original designs, so they don't really qualify as Moc's in that sense. And probably only just scrape by as Mods. The differences are there though, but you just have to look really close. Edited April 26, 20213 yr by McLaren
