El Bucanero Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 They are cheap now, but in eight days when the auction ends, they'll be just as expensive as everything else on ebay (especially now that you informed the entire world about this *sweet* ) I have my reasons for that... >:-) Mr Tiber Quote
rexcal Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 They are cheap now, but in eight days when the auction ends, they'll be just as expensive as everything else on ebay (especially now that you informed the entire world about this *sweet* ) Yeah, that's what I thought, too. But thank you anyway, Mr. Tiber! I also began to dream and smile when I saw his auction for the good old pirate ship 6285. I own that one, too, bought it as a teenager and still love it. Maybe i should build it sometime soon, because I haven't done so in years, it's waiting in all it's small pieces in some bags and cartoons... :'-) Quote
El Bucanero Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Anyone considered bidding on one? You would do me a great favor if you bid... Mr Tiber Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 I won't because I can't read them! They're all in like germin..... Quote
rexcal Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 "like... german." Yep, that's german. Do you want me to translate? ;-) Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I won't because I can't read them! They're all in like germin..... To make it short and simple, it says something like this: This set is no longer available in stores. Bricks are in mint condition, comes with box and instructions. Then it says they have more sets up for auction. Shipping is 8 Euro in Germany, you have to ask them how much they are for shipping to foreign countries. Quote

And BTW, if you want to bid for the Eldorado Fortress, you have to bid more than 30 euro, because I tried bidding less before but it wasn't the highest bid... Mr Tiber Quote
Landlubber Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Anyone considered bidding on one? You would do me a great favor if you bid...Mr Tiber Hows that? I noticed he has about 30 pirate sets, Rock Island Refuge, Trading Post, a shipload of Ships. Quote

Someone else placed a bid for me, but higher then I wanted... I thought I should wait till others would placed bids, and 4 of the 5 overbid me, but that skull Island is still there with me as highest bidder.. Well, I see the prices got a little higher since this thread was created... Except for the Skull Island Is there anyone of you who placed a bid? The skull island is still quite cheap for a set with box... Be fast because the auction ends in 4 hours!! Mr Tiber Quote

Shadows Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 There's a little bit of everything in there, even new castle. I wonder if we're looking at a future AFOL who will regret this auction, and somewhere, a current one who'll never forget how wonderful it was to buy. Quote
oDDerFisken Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Oh my.. thats a nice bunch of bricks.. I'd like those.. but I'm not sure I will be able to pay for it (and all the shipping costs) if the bids continues as they've done so far. What is the average price of 1 kilo of mixed bricks on ebay? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted June 20, 2008 Author Governor Posted June 20, 2008 Interesting you should mention oil because LEGO is made from ABS plastic which stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. Butadiene is a petroleum hydrocarbon obtained from butane - and what's the primary ingredient in petroleum - oil... Quote

So, no oil, no Lego? Or can butane be sourced independently as a natural gas? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 20, 2008 Author Governor Posted June 20, 2008 I would presume so, but I'm not chemist so I'm not sure whether that's suitable for producing Butadiene. Someone who has more knowledge on this matter will need to comment. Quote
