I was at the official website for the new LEGO Castle series, and there you can watch the commercials for some of the sets in the "Fun Zone", Anyways the title for the Troll Warship commercial is: "Orc Ship", so is this a simple mistake, or something more?

He's obviously referring to the fact that the word Orc is a licensed word... Cough cough...

I REALLY hope this is an easter egg; maybe the elf line will let it all out of the bag!

For me, a troll is a big beast tall of at least 3 meters. The smaller soldiers are orcs for me.

If you go to the character section, they are called Trolls. Probably a mistake.

Personally, i'd love lego elder scrolls. a lot of people like the series, and oblivion got Goty last year as far as RPGs go, so why not?

to me, trolls are the big brutes, and the orcs are the smaller warrior cousins, as said by Trudop561.

Orc (been around in games for years, including World of Warcraft)

If Lego's own in-house staff are getting confused, then it's probably because the way they've marketed the troll thing *is* confusing, if you know what I mean. Hopefully someone will notice and there'll be a rethink.

When I see this talk about trolls, I don't think of the green monsters at all. The first thing that comes to my mind is certain annoying people I know on internet forums. (none on here though )

Well, there are some people who don't like it, and others who haven't even heard of it.

Anywho, this is probably an error, maybe all the people calling them Orcs here have gotten to them. As for me, well, TLC calls them Trolls, so do I. They call the big guys Giant Trolls, so do I, no matter how weird it sounds.

Same hear....maybe they should have just consulted anyone with a shred of an idea into mythology. Trolls are big, Orcs are elves gone bad (normal size minifig)

Orc isn´t a copyrighted word. It is used in every Fantasy Roleplay-game and in the movies for that plus Lord of the rings. I don´t think that anyone had the rights for that word when it´s nearly everywhere.

I mean that when people use words like 'orc' some people may think that it belongs to them and that's why it's dangerous to use it because some people may want to sue over it.

Fenson, you are right and wrong: It IS a copyrighted word, and it IS used in all sorts of fantasy games, LOTR and WOW at the head. However, when a pair of guys living in their basement want to make a new fantasy game(not referencing anyone in particular ) they can't just call the enemies 'orcs' and call it a day.

The big guy himself, J.R.R. Tolkien, is generally credited with inventing the word "orc." I have no idea whether or not the Tolkien estates have any sort of copyright on the term. Probably not, since every Tolkien-inspired fantasy rip-off in the past half century has used the term.

It's clearly an odd mistake, though I wonder if it could be a translation error of some kind? I’ve always assumed the site was designed in Danish and well translated then into other languages so maybe it’s a translation slip up.

I agree with Athos. I've seen no evidence that it's a copyrighted term and it's used all over the place by loads of different companies.

Have to agree with whats been said so far, Orc is not a copyrighted word. Tolkien invented it as part of his Quenya lexicon. But, every fantasy genre has used it in some form or another since then, mainly games like Warhammer Fantasy (which was using it waaaaaay before Warcraft had been created :D).

I'm undecided on what to call them. I wanna say Orc, but my blind loyalty to TLG makes me say Troll :P
