Meditation chamber is really pretty until you get to the top panels and the studs kinda throw it off. Eh. Wasn’t gonna buy it but it’s pretty.

I'm gonna go the opposite direction - and I know this is an unpopular opinion - but I like studs on a Lego model. Studs are what make it lego. If it's too clean it looks like a nice piece of moulded plastic but somehow to me not lego. But each to their own.

Agreed. $US70 will be $Au150 and half of the pieces are the base. 75183 Vader transformation is a much better set. The chamber itself is not too bad as a set but not at that price and 18+.

Yep, that's gonna be a big chunk of AUD for a lot of interior building and black tiles.

Pretty unspectacular set overall, but still a nice addition to my collection

I love that the Meditation Chamber includes the viewscreen with Admirals Ozzel and Piett.

Without a doubt my favourite part of this set. They should include an alternative sticker that shows Ozzel getting force-choked :laugh_hard: It‘s an 18+ set after all

I thought this was Piett?

Unless he made a short trip to Kamino, that wouldn‘t make much sense given his appearance on the sticker right next to Ozzel

Big yikes on that meditation chamber. Note that none of the photos show it in it’s closed position, that’s a massive red flag right there. Will wait for reviews to make the final call but IMO this could be a contender for worst Star Wars set ever based on the price alone, what could have easily been a $20 set has been completely overblown. It’s like the designers asked themselves “how can we take this model that we’ve made out of a handful of pieces in the past and make it needlessly expensive?” Honestly, it’s worse than I was expecting given the screen is hiding at the back where it’s hard to see, I was thinking it would be off to the side instead. Hopefully it brings down the price of arm printed Vader on the aftermarket.

EDIT: The chamber is closed on the side of the box and you can see quite a bit of white poking through the gaps...

Oh yeah... Whoops. Well Rebels did re-use a lot of imperial officer character models, maybe its more common in the empire than we think!

I think he did make a short trip to Kamino as the face print on Veers seems identical to the one on the screen!

I think the addition of admiral Ozzel and Piett would have been nice as it would probably be our only chance to get him for some time

I guess I’ll start off the inevitable complaints that there are no dual moulded legs for the officer

Also, the Lego leak post said that the set was on the Mexican official site, I went on there but couldn’t find it

Well this ain't no 700$ Star Destroyer, why would you expect something like that in this very cheap and affordable display stand?!?

This set... sucks to say the least.

The build itself is ugly as hell. I love the bottom part, especially the circle, but from then on... absolutely terrible, horrible build. And that awful crane in the back

Minfigures are also terrible. I mean it's such a bland selection made of 2 minfigures, and it's a 70€ set...

Lego put those dual molded legs in many 30$ sets for batman in the past, and 10$ Spiderman mech set this year, so I can't see why they didn't put these legs in Vader set.

Lego has a weird policy with this. They did dual molding for like a year and then drastically reduced it with the super hero sets immediately. Batman hasn't seen dual molding in a long time, except for more special sets/CMF's. Yes, they did for Spidey last year again until they didn't for this year, until they did again for a 20$ set. It's weird. There's no logic. Miles Morales has the right legs, this admiral figure should have had in a 10$ set.

As always - I think there's more rules we are not aware about, leading to sets without much better - already existing - hairpieces, leg pieces and so on...

The box has thumb tabs - I don't know if anyone has pointed this out.

It’s a European thing I wish they’d stop doing because for some stupid reason those boxes keep ending up in the states and they’re a pain in the megablocks.

I'm guessing LegoCon's reveal for us is probably just going to be the Gunship and nothing else knowing how Lego runs. The timing is right with what that designer said in that interview about a "big reveal" in August. Also, if they reveal a UCS set like that they're going to want to have it front and center, so they won't distract with system sets.

I’m pretty underwhelmed by Vader’s meditation chamber. It sounded cool on paper but now that I have seen it, I’m not sure I’m willing to pay £60-70 for that. It looks like a £35-40 set at most. Maybe on a sale I’ll pick that up.

does anyone else feel the value of some of these newer sets just isn’t that great off the bat?

Might get a look at the UCS AT-AT.  That should be a pretty big announcement when made and if it launches in the fall, August reveal could make sense.

Indeed, the UCS Millennium Falcon was revealed on August 31st, Cloud City on August 21st, the UCS Star Destroyer on September 5th and the Cantina on September 9th. A late August reveal for the AT-AT would be on par with previous, 2HY UCS set reveals.

An early summer reveal for the Gunship followed by another UCS Star Wars set reveal a couple of months later - that's a lot.

I know it's got 660 something pieces in there for $70USD and close to the mythical $.10/p ratio, but this is definitely a case where ppp isn't everything. I'm guessing most of those pieces and small and a lot in the base construction. For this price the set really needs to have Piett and Ozzel, even though they're on the monitor already (and hell throw Needa in there for good measure to get all the ESB officers).

This might be just the slightest exaggeration. If we're going off price alone, there are other sets that are much more overpriced for what's actually included. If we're going off overpriced as in the set didn't need to be as large as it is, it's essentially a UCS meditation chamber. They've had much more oversized builds in the past (basically all speeder bikes, AT-RTs, etc).

Personally I think the set's pretty good, I don't know how people were expecting it to open like it does in the films without some sort of "crane". Based on the amount of parts I think it's an alright value, as well.

Not the worst set ever, but certainly not great. Open it looks okay, I guess, but closed it looks pretty bad with all the white showing. And $70 is a bit much for it, it looks like a $50 set

The 2020 version of General Grevious's Starfighter is so much worse when it comes to that set's pricing. It's £75 ($80 in the US) and it only includes 487 pieces.

There must be some sort of reason for that though, as maybe Grevious as a minifigure is expensive to make?

Grievous is expensive. His pieces are very complex and are only ever made for him, they have no use outside of his fig so the price rises. I have a feeling Lego takes advantage of how infrequently they make him tho.

I'm kinda worried that Omega will use the new Jurassic World Sammy head instead of getting a new face print. Then again this is Star Wars and not Marvel so they're less likely to cheap out there

Oh my god, just saw the other pictures of the meditation chamber on Lego.com. Yeah, bad set. Way too gappy and WAY too expensive. Like the hologram though

It does have arm-printing for Vader. So it has that going for it!
