Redroe Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 edit: SPOILER ALERT. I just tried to hide content and failed dismally. Someone remind me before reading rest of my post? Spoiler Some Quarren would be fantastic but again, nothing in this episode struck me as viable set material. They have done an Imperial carrier before and it was... ok? And the boat is barely around enough to make an impact. Yet again it's a case of top tier minifigs in unremarkable surroundings. Well, another solid episode but I gotta say I was disappointed that (as I was afraid it might) the apparent discrepancy between helmet on/off Mandalorians was dealt with in a single line. Hopefully they dig a bit deeper into that tension and make it worthwhile. Sasha Banks however can keep her helmet off as much as she likes. Phew. That squid looked tasty. Quote
Kit Figsto Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 I think it's likely that Bo-Katan shows up at some point again in the season. I mean, I don't see them dropping a fan favorite character like that after one episode. If we are indeed getting more Mandalorian sets this year, I'd bet she probably shows up in minifig form too Quote

There's a little eye icon at the top of the text box. clicking it makes the spoiler box appear. Gotta agree with every point there. Spoiler Maybe they could do a small part of the boat, like the pit, built almost like a small location set with mando, Bo-katan, and a quarren pirate or two, but it'll probably be nothing for this episode. Bo-katan will likely show up again, seeing as she's after the darksaber. I hope Koska Reeves (Sasha Bank's character) shows up too. The third mando (Axes Woves) was cool as well. Tell me about it! I instantly though 'that'd be awesome made out of lego!!!' I also feel the acting in the fight scenes and in general seems to have gotten a lot better (since episode 2 and onwards) and more like the films, and less like people running around cos playing not being able to see properly and with arm movements restricted by costumes. Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 so I dont know if it has been edited but one of the images from the Mando '21 set which I found on youtube does look like the printing and arms are in the standard silver, while the helmet is at least almost the same in dark metal grey. Oh that would be so not matching. I really dont understand some design choices.. I mean they did detailed molds for random weird figures but possibly reusing wrong barely printed helmet mold after over a year? It doesnt make any sense to push costumers to buy from costumizers How hard can it be? helmet and armor same colour; some print on the sides, on top and over the visor - maybe some shading underneath the visor as well. And in a year they can sell us a better mold instead in a 100+ set or so. Can someone of TLG explain this? A random wookie gets arm printing and a new mold (SW Rebels) but sought after figures get barely any treatment. And yes I know Marvel is worse of - Thanos there wears a Pyjama instead of complex armor. But still; they are doing like 10 new molds for Ninjago each year. And I assume this SW wave wont have much chance for new molds. Ok I stop ranting sorry. Quote

Leaked or prelim pics often have older pieces swapped in, and to be honest the original Mando helmet is probably based on concept or early images hence the lack of accurate printing, I would expect the helmet colour updated along with the rest of the figure. A new mold isn't really necessary. They can fix the problems with some simple additions to the printing. I will be keeping a careful eye on it though as if its off centre or blobby in any way, I will be requesting a replacement off Lego as I have had enough printing errors and blemishes over the last few years to really get my hackles up. In my surge of purchasing way too much - I had just one broken piece every. From the few sets I got in the last 2 years I had in at least 1/3 sets some printing issues. I mean like spots in the face or worse Personally in the last 12 months, I've had more quality problems with minifigs than any other 12 month period but as you say, I've had a bit of a binge (immediately followed by a selling things off spree). In my cantina alone - a high end set! - Ponda Baba's print is so thin it looks like he's got a pink vest on and his testic.... sorry tusks have bled onto his face, and the Trandoshan's teeth print is smeared down his chin (which actually looks ok, it looks a bit like he's drooling or just slopped his drink). And one of the sandtrooper's grey mouthpiece print is squiffy. It amused me that they've gone to the level of dual molding, so that even if the print fades it still has the essential detail fully recognisable, but the print is still in the wrong place so it looks bad anyway. Is there anyone here who disagrees? Anyone crying out for gaps in the sequel lineup to be filled? I find myself wishing I could go back to those days in early 2017 when Star Wars could do no wrong and my TFA shelf was one of the fullest in my display unit.... and tell the me from 12 months later that lapping up TLJ sets on Force Friday would be an expensive mistake. I think the next wave or two will be interesting from this perspective, whether we get any more sequel sets as Star Wars content moves on. Of course we're getting the 4+ set, but that doesn't reaaaally count... By and large the TFA sets are pretty good aside from a few stinkers (looking at you, Rathtar Escape), but the TLJ and TRoS waves were pretty uninspiring IMO, though admittedly I haven't picked any up. I might grab the A-wing from last year but aside from that, there's nothing that grabs me, even though I liked all three movies. Quote

He would be best LEGO youtuber if he showed any side of him or connected to fans or other people in LEGO community. Q&A series or vlogs or something. icm Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 (edited) Jang actually has done vlogs and showed off his city. Not everybody needs Personality. Edit, that was really nice of Ryan to send you the AAT. Good for him and for you. Edited November 16, 2020 by icm Quote

That's a good story about MandR. He's just had a bit of a rinse here but credit where it's due. I find Jang really appealing as a human being. There's a bit of a twinkle in his eye even when his videos do indeed come across as pretty samey. I'd love to get round a pub table with him and have a right good chat. Shame he lives 6000 miles away, on a different continent and probably doesn't drink IPA but it takes all kinds. I'd also love to get round a pub table with Koska Reeves and share a bowl of tentacles. 1 hour ago, BigGuy4U said: I think everything's pretty much been covered at this point. I wasn't asking so much about the missing sets, as much as the appetite for them. Are we crying out for a better FO Star Destroyer? Canto Bight sets? MBS Maz's castle (actually I'd buy that, just because it's filmed on the shores of Derwentwater about 15 miles from my house)? I just don't see any longevity in the sequels, less so even than the Clone Wars which has become its own enterprise within the wider universe. When TFA is 30 years old, will kids be buying Poe's X wing? I don't see it. But when ANH is 70, assuming there is still new content keeping the flame alive, they might still be buying Luke's. Is there anyone here who disagrees? Anyone crying out for gaps in the sequel lineup to be filled? A Black One remake and a normal FO Tie immediately pop to mind, the two most iconic sequel versions of the two most iconic vehicles. Black one came out in 2015 but x-wing design has advanced so much since then it would do well to have a remake, and the basic FO tie has never been released as a set, period. There are other things I can go on about like a new rey's speeder, exogol, etc, but I digress. Overall, I think it'll be almost completely gone for a year or two and then we'll start to see them about as often as prequel sets. I think the real question is mando sets. Even after the series ends (and we know it'll be at minimum 3 seasons), Baby Yoda and the Mandalorian will still be some of the most popular star wars characters for years to come. That said, we've got 4 system sets over the course of 2 years, so maybe it won't be much either. Quote
