I think you're missing one vital point. It's a transport. All your listed sets only have one type of person in them. Pilots, so it'd make no sense to include anything but pilots. Except the slave 1. That's a unique ship. Belonging to a popular character, so it'd be stupid to not include the character. But they also included other figs too. So, while yes, boba was the pilot, it's more the fact its his own personal ship. Not because he piloted it.

The gunship? Well, its not unique to any specific character or pilot.

So, while I understand your points, I don't feel they hold any weight for this case.

If it's a fake leak/rumour, and we get a pilot, that's cool. I got no issue with it. If its true, then tbh, I'd actually much rather have a unique looking clone and hopefully unique jedi...

Alright, well since we're making the bad decision to argue over a fake list and I've got nothing better to do at this point, let's bring in some evidence.

Looking on brickset, out of the sets are primarily of a vehicle or something that at least could be considered to have a "pilot", the sets containing figures (every one since like 2013) are as such:
5 without the pilot: Imperial shuttle (imperial officer is included, but not wearing the correct uniform to be a pilot), Obi-wan's starfighter (obi wan's astromech is included), X-wing (r2 included), b-wing, super star destroyer. Note that the most recent of these was in 2013.

9 with the pilot(s) (11 if you include the death stars, which need a pilot of some sort that would assumably be one of the officers or gunner): Millenium falcon 2007 (han and chewie), Sandcrawler (jawas), Slave one (boba fett), Tie fighter (TIE pilot), Snowspeeder (multiple snowspeeder pilots), millennium falcon 2017 (han and chewie), Y-wing (y-wing pilot and astromech), ISD (imperial crew, closest thing a star destroyer has to a pilot), A-wing starfighter (A-wing pilot).

One thing is immediately clear: Every UCS set since 2013 that was a model of a vehicle came with it's pilot(s). You might argue the specifics, maybe that the sandcrawler shouldn't count, or that the millenium falcon should only count once and not one for each model, but from that one fact of every UCS set in the last 8 years that could have a pilot has it's pilot, I think it's obvious the gunship will.

If it's not a new DS - and looking at the history of UCS DS, a new one is highly probable - i would be overjoyed, if they did a new planet series.

The OP says a sentence later that it's actually fake. Also, if you go to the source and read through, it's very fake. They claim the top selling themes of 2020 included "lego brains" and nexo knights

Yeah, read completely, before you write. My bad. Still i can think of a longer period without UCS DS.

I would also argue, that every now and then, lego changes their ways.

I'm just saying it's no guarantee. Perhaps highly probable, but definitely no guarantee. Even if they have done it since 2013, doesn't mean they'll Co tinue that way forever. At some point it can change, and who's not to say this point it'll change?

I do totally get why people assume a pilot will be included, I'm just not one for assuming anything with lego at the moment :sceptic:

I actually really hope the Knights of Ren helmets are re-used once the TROS sets start going out of stock as it would be silly for Lego to not recoup the costs of the new moulds and include the Knights in another set. They did the same for with the Praetorians in a battlepack so it seems obvious that a Knight of Ren battlepack would make similar financial sense. One thing I expect we could see eventually if there is a lull in new Star War content is a big themed wave focusing on all the Sequel Trilogy films with slightly-updated character designs and repackaging of any sets that sold well the first time, like their 'greatest hits' they occasionally do with the other trilogies

late answer: For some reason they rarely do so. Battle packs seem to be on ice and yes your idea for KoR BP is great BUT as many hair and helmet molds; these might be irrelevant long enough to be taken out of production.

It's ironic as one new mold for Mando or for the Armorer or many other figures, would have been so much more useful than the monkey mold from Solo or the several KoR molds.

The worst thing with those henchmen is that in the movie they always wore a helmet, and there were two different prints.

When it comes to arm printing, I will reserve my judgement until I see the figures. I think some figures really shouldn't have it (the imperial technician from the UCS ISD for example), while some minifigures in the past should have had it and didn't (like the mimban stormtrooper). I think though it is a step backwards for Vader to have had it then to not have it, same for recent figures like Greedo.

This was always weird, especially with SW. I think Bescar Mando was the first NOT super expensive fig to get armprinting where it was really necessary. In Rebels we saw Kanan, never getting his shoulder pad-printing but weird never-to be reused wookies did. Also Sabine didnt get and so on..

I'd be fine if just necessary, important characters would get the special treatment. The monkeys we can only ever reuse for a classic planet of the apes MOC.

So MandR hopped on the Windu and red clone rumor, so that’s looking unfortunately more likely. Honestly, I get the “UCS isn’t about the figures or play features” and “it was never going to have a million clones” but come on. P2 Cody and a few 212ths would have been a no brainer. At least enough clones to man the ship would have made sense. I seriously hope this is a fake rumor; I don’t have Windu or this rumored clone captain but holy smokes.

P2 Cody has been a highly requested figure for years. Putting him in a $350 set is a terrible idea.

The most iconic appearance of the Gunship is Attack of the Clones. Marketing it as anything but an AOTC set just doesn’t make much sense to me. P1 Clones make far more sense than P2, regardless of how much more people may want P2. There will be other opportunities

Why? The set is based on it's appearance in the battle of geonosis, and the clones didn't have legion-specific colors yet (and were p1).

I'm still calling that it'll be a clone pilot or two and a shiny clone trooper, with arm printing and maybe a new pilot helmet mold.

If the minifig rumors are true, this mean that out of the original 6, ROTS still is the only one with no UCS set.

Even if they aren't, lego's been very clear the set is based on attack of the clones.

Especially as a "fan-vote" figure, which is the only way he'd get in since it's an AOTC set. IMO the fan vote would be best used on a figure we'll never get again in a normal set, not one that should be able to fit into any clone or separatist set based on clone wars.

Wait, were people honestly expecting this to be based on ROTS? :laugh_hard: That’s completely delusional. Hm, which film could a Republic Gunship be based on, the one where it’s on every single poster, featured front and center in the climax of the film and which the picture on the voting site was based on; or the film where it basically appears in the background of one scene  I DoNt KnOw

Yeah I know it was kinda wishing on a star but it would have been nice. I guess I was hoping it would have been more Falcon-style where it's a mix of a playset and a display set but I guess that comes with the $800 price tag.

That's actually super true and I can't believe I didn't think of that. Putting Cody in this set would be like making the 501st pack $100.

Yeah I guess I got caught up in the hype around this set. I'll still probably grab it, and grab another 501st pack or two to man it.

This certainly is not the first time we've gotten a UCS set with disappointing minifigs (UCS Star Destroyer, TIE Fighter etc.)

They could have done more there of course, but the main attraction should be the ship itself, so I will hold judgement until we have pictures.

Same. Hopefully it's a really well designed display piece, since I have a ton of 501sts which will man it nicely, but it's still annoying.

In RotS it appears on Coruscant when Obi-Wan talks with Yoda and Mace Windu, also in the Jedi temple hangar, during Obi-Wan's briefing with Cody and the 212th, and in several scenes on Utapau.

For the record, I only thought it might be ROTS because of P2 Cody and the fact that it has never had a UCS set before. That said, it’s much better known from AOTC, but that was my justification.

On another note, how did the P2 Cody rumor get started? Was it MandR’s video? It had Cody and Bob on the front of it.

Probably a combo of that and wishful thinking on the part of Instagram/Reddit/Youtube.  Part of the problem is that people on Instagram like to use #legoleaks for EVERYTHING that they post, so people will just assume anything posted under that hashtag is legit.  I've seen people post customs or concept box art/set designs or whatever to that hashtag, which opens a whole can of worms in terms of causing misconceptions about what is and isn't real.

Agree, it was never going to be a Clone Wars based set, so that knocks out every clone but Cody, and even if they did appear in ROTS, they had pretty much no role.  I'm a little surprised it's Mace Windu and not Yoda (since he was the one that brought all of the clones, after all), but this is what most people on EB have been saying for like a year now, and I really wonder if the set will sell poorly because people didn't think about what a UCS set actually entails.

My prediction is that this will sell poorly because most people that are very into the prequel sets want figures and a smaller scale, not a giant ship that has to be put on a stand and can't be handled very easily, which will probably kill prequel UCS sets.  I mean, look at the ATT - the build is okay but not amazing, but it has Ahsoka and a 332nd, so everyone wants it.  Nothing wrong with that, that just seems to be the common thread among prequel sets that sell well.  Call me a pessimist if you must, but I feel like with no appealing figures, a high price point, and no playability, this thing will probably have like a year and a half shelf life, max.

The fact that very, very appealing new sets are coming this summer and there's two that are $100 or more mean that I think people might opt to pay $200-250 for a bunch of system scale stuff rather than close to $400 (after tax and all you wind up paying nearly that much) for one set.

Is it fair to say this is because Prequel Fans are largely considered to be of a younger generation?

It could be, I don't really know.  But I think if you scroll through most of the communities that really wanted this set (the aforementioned Youtube, Reddit & Instagram), the number one thread was minifigures, and that's also a common thread of other discussion there too.  Heck, look at the prices for clones or prequel figures (other than the common ones).

Which is why I say I feel like people were voting for what they think a massive gunship should be, not what it's going to be.  Maybe I'm completely wrong and the leaks aren't right and this thing will sell like hotcakes, in which case the crow will be delicious for me, but this thing just seems dead in the water if the largest demographic of prequel set buyers is out from the beginning (and also I wonder how many of these people were really going to put down $350 for a UCS set in the first place, even if it did have the ideal number of figures, since a ton of the comments and stuff on the videos were always talking about how it's super expensive and all).

#legoleaks is such a bloody mess lmao. Decalers will use it for new decals, concept artists, leaked figure lists dropped ages ago made with old figures, it's a disaster.

Honestly I'm in support of this. The UCS Falcon is a great example. It's so...big...that it doesn't feel like a lego set anymore, and therefore I'm passing up on it. My AT-AT, Slave One and Kylo Shuttle, on the other hand, are smaller, yeah, but they're fun. They're a good size, and they display really bloody well. The UCS A-Wing, on the other hand, is just too big. There's a level at which Lego gets too big, but that could just be that I don't own any UCS sets (the Gunship will be my first ironically tho bc I don't have one)

Ok, but you can see how that's not much compared to it's appearance in episode two, right? What's more, they clearly showed in the vote articles that it'd be based off attack of the clones, the film that the ship is most well-known for appearing in.

During the fan vote you could write in a figure and they would take that into consideration for the figures in the set, so it's speculation that p2 cody may have one (bob was another likely candidate). So there's literally no evidence the set would ever be based off rots. I'm assuming that MandR's video was just him putting them in the thumbnail for clickbait.

Perhaps the 75286 Grievous Starfighter would have been PERFECT.... I cannot fathom how LEGO has blown this.

That was never "a rumor". It's what most people voted for in the poll but it has never by any stretch of the imagination been "a rumor" tied to the set. The box art was a concept a fan made based on my wishes for the set IIRC.

I agree. They were willing to redesign a perfectly good (and still readily available) 212th airborne trooper figure, so why not invest in a figure more people want? the grievous fighter should have had another figure for the insane price.

I'd argue that the exclusion of a Clone Pilot is a bigger mystery than Cody being absent, if this rumor is true. As for his exclusion from the Grievous Starfighter, I think Lego thought Grievous was enough of a set seller, though I doubt it sold well.

Cody in that set would have been absolutely perfect. I can’t imagine how well it would have sold, even at $80

They remade the Wheel Bike and the Grievous Starfighter. One more Utapau set would be perfect. A remake of Boga and throw in a couple Crab Droids and some great minifigs including Cody and there you go
