Possibly some hard-reset. Electronic devises normally may have some not-so-easy-to-access button for a hard-reset/reboot operation.

I guess, this button may switch-off the hub, or un-pair the Bluetooth connection. However, once you access the button by removal the battery compartment, you will disconnect it anyways))

My guess is a factory reset in case of failed firmware upgrade. This is usual on programable electronics in order to be able to restore if a update of firmware fails. it probably relays on power in the caps and has to be pressed for a certain time...

But can't say for sure.

Well, with batteries removed (for some time) that "reset button" does not make that much sense - no power - no reset :)))

I'd also go with "detect an alternative battery pack"
