I believe the Town Hall had an elevator.

I don’t. Have that one, unfortunately.

But it’s good to know it has an elevator tho.

I know this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but I'd like a parking garage.

Namely, it would probably be a little bigger than most sets, but a little more open. You can add a couple small shops near the bottom to keep it slightly unique. I'd probably have it roughly 3 stories, add some stuff like vending machines and an elevator amongst a few other things, but the goal is to keep it simple.

To save space, it could actually be one of those robotic parking garages!

Robotic? You mean like the one in Fast & Curious: Tokyo Draft movie?

I don't think a robot parking garage is going to happen, as it's too modern. Remember: the modular series has a timeline at some point in the '20's thru late 50's. It doesn't go beyond the early 60's... ever. (except for that computer in town hall, that was a fluke) We also got a parking garage in CITY in 2012 (set 4207) which could only work with four-wide vehicles, and it was massive (16x48 I think?)

This. Realistically, I jsut don’t see Lego designing a futuristic or modern building like the robotic parking garage. Although, it would be pretty cool to see a few modern stuff being added to the  future Modular Building sets, such as a digital billboard stationed outside a hotel that is tied to the past. Future meets past, we get present (gift)!

However, remember - this is a wishlist thread, so I guess it’s okay to post their wishes here.

Funny enough, I figured that out when I saw the corner garage set. I was like "So if we were to put all generic themes on a timeline, Modulars would take place before City/Speed Champions/Creator 3in1!". Just because of the styling of the buildings and vehicles. The police station, especially looks like something from a 60s version of New York City.

I think I have a few ideas to share with you. What if some Modular buildings would have references from other in-house themes (Pirates, Space, Castle, etc)?

Here are examples I can think of:

1.) Seafood Restaurant - Imagine that, a built-brick ship sticking out of the building above entrance door, a portrait of Captain Redbeard inside the eating area, a host/hostess dressing up in a pirate costume.

2.) Museum - it’s a perfect place for all mentioned themes bu I would like to suggest an astrology. Imagine that… First minifigure’s landing on the. Moon, meteor rock, a roccket that kids can climb into and “explore” the outer space, a model of Solar System (or Systar System?).

3.) Daycare -  Okay it may be lame to you but, wait, allow me explain! What if daycare has a play set castle in a playground next to daycare? A female employee has a book (with an image of King Leo and Princess Storm) to tell young children, children play with hobby horses and toy swords.

Ok! So taking into the fact that modulars is supposed to take place in the 50s or 60s, I'm thinking of just a plain 50s style office building, of course with great detail on the outside. On the inside, instead of computers, they can have type writers and switchboards. It can also have a meeting room with the head manager in a bowler hat. Adjacent areas can be a buffet and a gym.

I like the way you think! Maybe it could be OCTAN regional offices, or something. If it were, it would need a billboard / logo sign on top.

Not bad! You know, most of modular fans have been asking for skyscraper (maybe 4 floors, who knows…). This office is perfect for it.

I think its time for:
- A museum

- A theatre

- Postoffice

Or, a very wild take: a new and proper market street with shops and stands :)

Regarding inversed corner/L shape: while it would be welcome for all of as and would be new, this would not sell well because the "display-able" nice side would be too small and most of the building would be the back wall... so I don't think they will bring that ever out.

Now we’ve had a cinema, and a jazz club, I can’t see another performance based modular for a while.  We do need a Doctors, since we have a vet and a dentist.  I’d like to see a ‘corner shop’.  For those not in the UK, these are usually small grocery stores, often found at the end of a row of terraced houses.  they would sell pretty much any food & beverage, plus household essentials.  TBH, I’d love a full width grocery store, but can’t see that happening anytime soon, primarily since TLG seems to moving more to the split into two buildings.

This is India unpopular but i wish that Lego would give us some dystopian sets. You see, the retired and current Modular sets are so….perfect and utopian - I don’t see any damage (except for a very small damage in the back of Police Station where the criminal attempts to esape) or a sign of economic recession (out-of-business  sign or homeless minifigure on street)

So here are few ideas I hav -

1.) Burnt-down building (half top of building is burnt while half botttom is saved)

2.) An empty place on the ground floor with “OUT OF. BUSINESS” and “FOR SALE” signs on window while apartments above are stll occupied. Maybe a small building will be good instead of a big one.

3.) Any building comes with a cracked sidewalk

4.) Homeless people camping out in alley

5) Abandoned run-down townhouse haunted by ghost

6.) Car accident (i think it would be a good GWP) since we have a towing truck from Cornner Garage set

okay, I know it’s 100% unlikely for Lego to give us dystopian Modular sets. But I’m glad that Police Station has a criminal minifigure stealing donuts, kinda petty dystopia there.

Now that Lego is doing a Disney x Brickheadz x CNY crossover, why not do a Modular x CNY crossover? I vote for a 'Chinatown' building. I would like to see a Chinese cold cuts/take out shop, as well as a Boba shop on the ground floor. Perhaps a paper mill (calendar factory) on the second floor, and finally, either living quarters or mahjong place on the third.

I would love to see any of these. Still hanging on to hope for a museum modular. we are getting close to reveal time for next year. Counting down..

Was looking at the list of Bricklink Designer Program finalists and there really isn't a modular building. I suppose you can consider the translation, but it is more of a freestanding one, no? I wonder if Lego generally doesn't want any competition whatsoever to its own modular line that only comes once a year???

I recently visited Seattle this week and I made a few off my wishlist.

Seattle is well known as “Rain City”, I’m little surprised that there is no pudding or umbrella or raincoat…

How about a coffee shop building with seafood market? With the sidewalk that will have PRINTED metallic tile that mimics watery puddle. Add a minfigure wearing a raincoat or a recolored Jack Davis’ cap+hood piece! And add a lovely oak tree.

i don’t care if you already have Cafe Corner and will skip another coffee shop…

  • 2 weeks later...

Living almost all my life in the PNW (not Seattle), I've never heard Seattle called the "Rain City". Yes, it gets a lot of rain (twice as much as Portland), and everyone complains about it in both cities, but Seattle is the "Emerald City". I do like your ideas about a seafood market with printed water tiles and raincoats though!!! No need for a coffee shop too, just a fresh seafood market with seafood restaurant (or maybe a bait shop or aquarium fish shop as a secondary instead of a restaurant?) would suffice.

FYeah, we do need seafood market and restaurant would fit together very nicely! A bait shack as a small business would be nice. It needs some Seattle-vibe market, like Pike Market. :) I guess a rain coated minifigure coming makret wiht coffee then! I still like to see another coffee shop sine I don’t have Cafe Corner as my own.

Lego has always been a toy depicting an idealised life, so having signs of an economic recession (something which few kids would understand and that few adults can accurately explain) would make little sense.

As for your Ideas

1) would make for a building much reduced in size, and since modulars are always about interesting architectural techniques, this idea would cut down the number of interesting building space in half (and would result in who knows how many complaints about Lego having cheapened the set by removing a floor

2), 3) and 5) could absolutely work, though this would have to be in some sort of haunted house setting (so not a modular, since those are always supposed to appeal to a broader audience), but 3) could be done with say, a construction crew working on repairing it in front of a regular modular, but this isn't what you want.

4) would not work at all, since Lego always tries to depict people living in near-equality and with little suffering, even those that do cause harm are usually not human and are causing it to someone who is either defending themselves or who is being defended, never would it make sense for TLG to release a set where someone is suffering in the alley while someone else is in a building enjoying themselves.

But 6) is the only idea I find to be terrible, since many people know someone who lost their lives in such an accident, so why would they want a painful reminder of this in toy form? I know you are going to say that the accident needs not depict death, but it indirectly does whether or not it wants to. A broken down car could work quite well as a GWP, though.

A dystopian steampunk style is still possible, as Lego did something like that for some rather popular Lego Movie 2 sets, just saying...

A Post Office would be wonderful. Lots of potential interior details: mechanical features like conveyor belts or a grand marble entrance hall. Hopefully enough people still remember what letters and stamps are!

I have fond memories of classic Lego post offices, especially 6689.

Keep in mind that Modular Buildings only target AFOLs, not kids. Recently, there are alcohols in both Boutique Hotel and Jazz Club. Of course, some AFOL parents would let kids build those Modular Buildings with them.

1.)  I would love to see blackended, destoryed top section of the building. If there is no fire, then why we have Fire Bridage then? How about this: if it burnt down, what if it includes a play set - replacing it with a rested/renovated top floor (just a secondary building).  It may not work but I love that idea.

2.), 3.) and 5.) A cracked sidewalk can be seen everywhere in cities. However, I LOVE haunted houses. This modular could appear to Halloween- and/or paranormal-loving audience. Cracked sidewalk is often seen around and in cities.

4.) and 6.) I guess Lego wants Modular Buildings to be a “happy, perfect, orderly” city… This doesn’t reflect the reality we live in. I get that Lego tends to avoid ANY way that involves death. For example, Cedric Diggory from Harry Poter movie died in that graveyard and there is no Cedric minifigure in the graveyard set. Death is too dark, I guess. Maybe you make a good point about homeless people camping in alley.  How about a modular shelter for homeless people to sleep in?

I guess Unkitty wants to convert Modular Buildings into New Cloud Cuckoo Land.

P.S. I’m not so great at explaninign in writing becuase English conflicts with American Sign Language (I’m deafblind AFOL her) so please excuse lack of clear responses I made…

Your responses are clearer than many native anglophones... (though I have corrected any mistake in your message for the quote).

Yes, there's alcohol in some sets, but no drugs, no display of violence, torture or dismemberment, and no display of drunkenness, so it's always kid-friendly

I understand your point for 1), but I still feel like it would be disappointing to have a set where parts of the build are missing. As for the fire brigade, I always thought it was one's job to just use a few fire pieces to create one for your display.

The modular homeless shelter could probably work, but even then, they'd be much likelier to make a long-term care or physical rehabilitation facility.

Fun talk, and I'd love to see a courthouse...
