Today I was going to make my first visit to a LEGO Store in over a year and buy this set in person, but a family thing came up that kept me from going, so I just ordered it instead. Ah, well.

It's sold out on the UK Lego website, I'm glad it's so popular

Also, this made me chuckle

Madness, when it’s clearly a set to celebrate the NHS!

I managed to get my hands on this one yesterday. I was a bit worried, since it had sold out online, that in store supply might be limited too, but I needn't have feared - the Bristol store was well-stocked, and I had no trouble snagging my copy. I found it to be an easy build, but that doesn't bother me. The parts are useful - imo this has a higher concentration of useful parts than any other set in recent memory, and I'd even include Basic sets in that. When I need the shelf-space and dismantle it, I'll find use for bricks and fig parts alike, so aside from its supportive message I think this is a genuinely great set.

It’s not only an excellent set with a beautiful message, it’s also very enjoyable to put together  You don’t often get to see a pile of bricks this colourful in one set :sweet:

Still can’t help but wonder what that blue hairpiece was initially designed for, it has to show up elsewhere rather soon… I’ve seen Kramer from the Seinfeld Ideas set come up a couple of times, but after having seen the piece first-hand, that option doesn’t really fit IMO

I wholeheartedly agree. In addition it's also a great display set.

I think it’s not a bad hairpiece for the designer, Matthew Ashton 😜

I've seen speculation that it might be for Steve Harrington in an upcoming Stranger Things set, which does seem plausible to me.

That was my first thought when the set leaked, but despite the teaser on Twitter I don't think there's a ST set coming this year :hmpf_bad: At least none of the leakers believe there is, and TLG probably would've revealed the set by now or posted another teaser. It's been exactly one month now and still radio silence, which isn't their MO

A bit exaggerated perhaps, but it's indeed not a bad fit

Looks like the mystery has been solved, thanks to the new Queer Eye set rumour: the hairpiece fits Tan France to a tee *huh*

Wait for real? That would be neat!

Wait. What?

Will get the set later when there's a new GWP offer (I just recent bought the Chinese New year sets before June) but beside the minifigs, I still love that it has very "basic" parts in multiples.

11 Colors :

  • 1x2 brick - x9
  • 2x3 brick - x4
  • 2x2 tile - x5-6
  • 1x2 plate - x2
  • 1x2 tile - x1 or x3
  • 1x3x2 arch - x2

1x10 brick Tan - x8

And even some nice large white plates like 16x16 and 6x16

Why do we need a Queer Eye set :hmpf: the guys are lovely but really?

I don't believe this rumor, One because I don't think there is any demand for a Queer Eye apartment set (maybe I'm wrong in thinking that), but also because they just did the Friends apartment and the Seinfeld Apartment is supposed to be coming out in a few months. I know the crossover of those who would be interested in all these sets is not 100%, but seriously 3 adult-oriented lego apartments in 1 year? I have zero evidence to back this up but I'd bet money that the "rumor" is some idiot being a troll spurred on by the unnecessary controversy surrounding this set. Considering that every third post in "the usual place for leaks" is a blurry picture of a set and a caption that reads like an eight year old who just learned how to be ironic, "The UCS AT AT won't include real snow, etc..." my moneys on Troll.

That being said I'm prepared to eat my words if the QE Apartment is a real upcoming set.

Every leaker on IG says so, including FalconFan, brick_clicker, and lego_fulcrum :classic: So I’d prepare the cutlery if I were you :moar:

Why do we need a <pick most of them at random> set?

Assuming this is true - I think it’s a great addition to the display sets, and will be a power of good for LGBTQ+ representation. Anyone who hasn’t seen the show should really watch some to see what a positive, life affirming thing it is.

Oh, Queer Eye, follow up to the Fab 5 "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" series? I had to google QE. Fab 5, I did have heard of, ages ago.

Huh - Queer Eye? I hadn’t kept up with the thread.

My copy of Everyone is Awesome arrived today, though, so that’s… awesome.   I just put it together, and it’s delightful. I’ll keep it together a while, probably longer than usual since it’s such a nice display piece and even though it has useful parts I don’t especially need any of them for anything else right away. I might get a second copy.

I have nothing against gay couples or gay pleople, but they are overrrepresented in media.

In my kid`s class a girl has two dads and nobody cares, nor the kids neither the parents.

But if 99% of families are heterosexual please keep it that way.

Oops. Your homophobia is showing.

You know, I suspect that if you actually tallied up all the couples in narrative media productions for a given year--television, movies, books, video games, plastic building toys--at least 99% of them would in fact be het couples. Same-sex couples are overrepresented in the discourse, because it's a hot-button issue and it's only very recently that anyone took deliberate strides to make progress in that area...but not in the actual numbers. You just don't notice het couples, because they're "normal."

Take, for example, Steven Universe. Terrific show, highly praised for its LGBTQ+ representation, must be crawling with same-sex couples, right?

You want to know how many unambiguously gay, unambiguously romantic couples there are in the show's five-season run?

One. Ruby (F) and Sapphire (F). That's it.

But Karalora, you might be saying, that by itself doesn't tell us anything! For all I know, Ruby (F) and Sapphire (F) might constitute the only romantic couple in the show, which would make it 100% gay! Right you are, which is why I'm about to list all the other named couples in the series:

  • Greg Universe (M) and Rose Quartz (F)
  • Steven Universe (M) and Connie Maheswaran (F)
  • Lars Barriga (M) and Sadie Miller (F)
  • Priyanka (F) and Doug (M) Maheswaran (Connie's parents)
  • Dante (M) and Martha (F) Barriga (Lars's parents)
  • Marty (M) and Vidalia (F) (not a committed couple in this case, but they did produce a kid)
  • Yellowtail (M) and Vidalia (F)

That's all I can think of--if there are more, they are so minor that I have no immediate memory of them, and I was heavily into the show while it was current.

So there you go--even Steven Universe, a show that went out of its way to provide representation for the LGBTQ+ community, is still 87.5% straight when it comes to actually portraying romantic relationships.
