At least these sets are all system scale unlike the buildable object / sculpture mania other licensed themes are indulging in this year.

Ssshh! They've still got the Indy 5 wave to go. Don't spoil it! ;)

Nah, that would be too sensible, have you SEEN what Star Wars and Marvel have been doing. We'll be getting a $700 UCS bust of Colonel Dietrich.

The controversy that would be induced because of this would make me buy alot of pop corn

Regarding the criticism about the sets,I did say earlier that this is just the case of TLG trying to make a quick buck out of the whole thing.Do not expect the remaining sets to have better quality built wise.

UCS Hat and Whip. You heard it here first!

With a display plaque describing the technical specifications of said hat and whip, of course don’t forget storage space for a brick separator!

On a more serious note, does anyone anticipate any new minifigure moulds for the Dial of Destiny lineup? All I can think of is a combined hair/hat piece for Helena.

I bet it will cost 300$ and to sweeten the deal, they will include an exclusive version of indy with cobwebs printed on him so you can have a match with the Temple Escape set

You laugh, but a set with the fertility idol, the crystal skull, the journal from TLC and maybe a hat would be one of the few (probably the only one) object/sculpture sets I'd buy.

This discussion makes me wonder if a D2C set could actually be in the cards for this theme at some point. Most likely not this year as we would’ve heard about it already, but maybe if it continues :classic: It’s the only theme I’m collecting that never had one!

All of that together sounds pretty cluttered, but imo the Fertility Idol or Crystal Skull would make for amazing "helmet" sets.

Temple of Doom set might be cancelled or postponed according to Promobricks.

Why?

The only reason I can think of is all the flagrant racism, in which case they should've just not made a set in the first place

It's the flagship set of the new line, they are going to be burning money for NO LOGICAL REASON

It literally comes out in a month, by now they'd already have the sets in warehouses ready to ship out

If the temple of doom is ACTUALLY cancelled because “it fails to meet guidelines” just cancel the entire Indiana Jones wave at that point because almost everything Indiana Jones goes against the “guidelines” this is just beyond pathetic from lego.

Really? Personally, it was the one I was least interested in (it's also my least favorite movie in the franchise), but to get this far and then cancel it is such an odd decision. They've presumably got them produced and stacked up ready to go. Into Hangar 51 with them?

It's also a shame because now the line is an 18+ set and two pretty small playsets, only one of which has a location. And it's not as if you can't predict any controversy that might come from things associated with Temple of Doom.

Doesn’t make sense. I sincerely hope it’s not out of something similar to what happened with Jabba’s palace 🙄

The difference there is that nobody had taken offense to Jabba's Palace prior to the LEGO set, so the backlash was unprecedented. It was stupid, but LEGO's decision there was understandable.

Temple of Doom, by contrast, has been infamous for being incredibly violent and incredibly racist for nearly 40 years. There's no excuse for putting it into production and then deciding to cancel it in the 11th hour.

If we’re playing this game of it not being “politically correct” what about the fact 2/3 of sets feature NAZI’S and one of which has a NAZI plane! Oh and the lost tomb goes against the “guidelines” on religion by having the ark so cancel that as well 🙄

Well, they're excusing the Nazis by having them just be generic "Enemy Soldiers" like in the og line, but you're totally right that the Ark violates their flimsy guidelines just as much as ToD's depiction of religion does.

Again, I honestly wouldn't mind if back when they were brainstorming these sets they ruled out Temple of Doom for these reasons - honestly, I could fully understand. But the fact that the set was in development for YEARS and is getting pulled a month before release is ridiculous, and just feels really incompetent on the part of LEGO's leadership.
