I don’t know if it will really accomplish anything this time around, but kudos to them. It gives me a good chuckle at the very least. (Though like with the 501st situation, I’m sure a few people will take issue with this and complain about others “harassing” a multibillion dollar brand’s social media page.) Eh, we'll never know if it would accomplish anything because they've got to reveal them anyway, right? ....right? I will say the 501st situation was a lot different because it was A: "we're entitled to this specific set" rather than "can you just tell us what's happening with this theme" and B: at least from what I've seen, it's not as incessant or rude as the constant 501st spam. I know people keep saying this, but c'mon, this is absolutely absurd. I don't even care anymore. The three remaining sets could be hundreds of dollars out of my price range. They could cancel the whole line. I just want to know what's going on. Quote

Whovastron Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Would not take that as acknowledgement of the set, the interns doing social media replies probably don’t know about sets until they have to post them. It’s on a post about bowsers castle so they just mentioned that also a social media “campaign” about the temple of doom is just…urgh, please don’t do that Quote
cehnot Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 (edited) With the various reviews posted I think I take back my previous comments about the fedora. They did a generic tapered hat with wide point in front instead of a closer point. The older fedora had a closer center and correct top shape curves. The only problem I had with the original fedora was the angles on the side instead of keeping it straight. The new hat appears to have been made for future Lego use and not specifically for these sets. They must have used the cheap disney brand hat not the movies for reference. The hat has a round top inside the sides like the new figure. This looks bad. https://www.villagehatshop.com/product/all-fedoras/451139-157772/indiana-jones-officially-licensed-wool-felt-fedora-hat.html?utm_content=datafeed&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6rCgBhDVARIsAK1kGPLI4MpQuupyAqOa0r-NK8erykbKTNW4dEb2ceZs3bj9RhukgcMuj3UaAiydEALw_wcB The crown is wrong and too short. I fixed it in photoshop and made a few variations like the Last Crusade and Raiders style hat. The shape of the minifig head makes it too wide. The solution I am happy with was a mixture of ideas from the films that fit the wide minifig head. The only issue is the top of the crown cannot be modified from the new hat because it's not tall enough. The other part of the new hat that isn't correct is how it had a round top instead of it curving in to form the "m" shape. Instead it follows the wider cowboy hat style that doesn't work for him. They basically used the newer cowboy hat and changed the brim. The only way I think the hat could be molded would be heating it and see if the whole thing would stretch vertically and then sand the front and top. Sadly I did a quick fix in photoshop and they could have easily did this for the new hat since they went for a new mold. My only explanation is that they didn't want it to match so they could use it elsewhere. Edited March 11, 2023 by cehnot Quote

krimimimi Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 @cehnot Thank you for the exquisite hat geeking. I appreciated your qualified and enthusiastic analysis. I think the hat, train, dinosaur and car people (probably in that order) provide some of the best insights as to the moulds / builds. If nothing else, this thread has made me better understand why lego hates leaks and so aggressively guards against them, beyond just the increased risk of fakes flooding the market. It's a pity, as I quite enjoy speculating off them. I'm not concerned about "harassing" a large business, but from an entirely pragmatic standpoint, I have to wonder if the climate is such that they find themselves facing calls to justify product decisions for lines that have never even been announced, won't that just lead to more crackdowns on leakers moving forward? Without the leaks, that conversation never takes place. Whatever else happens with this theme, I'm grateful for the release of 77015 alone. It's a thing of great beauty, and better than much of what most of the other themes can boast. Quote

Another reason I don‘t miss leaked prelim or otherwise low-quality pictures (aside from teasing sets that may never see the light of day): they consistently make sets look worse than they actually are. I’d much rather have leaked descriptions and minifig factory leaks, and nothing else Quote

It's a thing of great beauty, and better than much of what most of the other themes can boast. I basically agree. But LEGO could have just announced the series in time, like all other series. Rather than arranging shipments to retailers and risking something leaking before the official release. It should also be clear to LEGO that the series was long awaited. In addition, SmythsToys already teased in January that the sets should be available in April. At that point at the latest, LEGO could have planned the date of the official announcement accordingly, since it must be assumed that customers are expecting the sets to be on the market in April. Nobody understands why LEGO is taking so long at Indiana Jones. So it's probably not the fault of the leakers alone that everyone is very nervous now. Quote

I'm curious the stats on "in time." I'm a recent returning fan, so I don't know the history of releases, especially for movies. My understanding is that we're also anticipating an April 1 release for Land Rover, and there's been no word. For pre-orders, sets seem to get some advanced warning, but not that much. I don't follow Avatar theme, but some research indicates that it was ~10 days from announcement to release for sets based on the original movie. While some are concerned because Star Wars sets are being announced now for May and August releases, with the release of the Mandalorian new season, there is some built in hype and an obvious date with which to coordinate. LEGO obviously had plans for release announcements for two major lines with Mandalorian show's release date and Mar. 10 being an unofficial Mario day. For the original trilogy of Indy, the streaming rights are not with the owner of the Toy license, so one company isn't controlling the marketing for both. The only date I can foresee that would hype the original trilogy other than the date for the sequel's release is that the Disneyland ride underwent refurbishment and is reopening end of March in time for Easter and Spring Break in the U.S. I want to know about the series, but it doesn't seem that Lego always announces months/weeks in advance, especially for a series of largely playsets that are going to not be limited in quantity and require AFOL fans to budget and to preorder. It seems clear that while some retailers may not get immediate access (the Netherlands store had a June listing), Target (arguably Lego's biggest partner in the U.S.), Smyth's, and (based on early sales) small stores in the US will/already have immediate access to the series. There's no need to announce relatively early to preorder a series that's going to be this available. Quote

Kit Figsto Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Saw a post on Reddit that someone has found the Indy sets at Fred Meyer in Orgeon, which I believe is the first major chain store someone has found them at? They showed a picture of the plane chase and said that they had the others as well (not sure if that's just the plane and Lost Tomb or if it also includes the diorama). Quote
