Yeah. Were there more IJ sets coming, I wouldn't have a single gripe about the figs, but if there's only 3 sets, the mummy is really a waste of a spot. Still a good-looking fig, though!

The map room would have been nice as well. They could have put it behind the wall on the level above the mummy, and it would only have added ~50 pieces.

Only that one, though. The other two were overpriced at first (The tomb was DOUBLE!) but have since returned. At least, when I got the tomb at target it was back down to $40.

Incidentally I went to find a fighter plane chase and I saw that well of souls had the 79.99 sticker on the shelf 🤔

The Target I went to today had all three Indy sets. The Well of Souls had the correct price, but the Temple of the Golden Idol and Fighter Plane Chase still had Target's inflated prices. As tempted as I was, I'm still holding off on getting the sets until June-ish, hopefully during a double VIP event. I did get the Hasbro Adventure Series Indiana Jones figure though.

Hmmm...  OK, so is it essentially agreed that the Dial of Destiny sets are officially delayed, or perhaps just entirely cancelled at this point?

Wouldn't they be listed in the Lego Dealer's Catalog by now (perhaps just showing blank mystery boxes, just specifying the theme, and the part counts, as usual...?)

I think it's agreed they never existed in the first place.

Ahahaha!  I totally believe you, that sounds exactly right...

OK, So new Dial of Destiny sets were just a lazy rumor or hopeful assumption, that never had any real substantiation at any point?

Is that right?

We don’t know. The only thing we ever heard was the alleged set list from Promobricks. But both the reported set numbers and what the sets were supposed to be based on were just assumptions:shrug_oh_well:

I hope Promobricks will clarify that at some point. I suppose the whole thing was just a big misunderstanding and there never were DoD sets to begin with

Right!  If I remember right, we just had set numbers and basic details on those four Original Trilogy sets (with the Temple of Doom presumably canceled now).  Any possible Dial of Destiny sets were just mentioned as a possibility, or a logical presumption, simply because there's a big Summer movie finally coming out this year.

Yep...  Shrug...  Sigh...!

Oh well!  But honestly, I didn't really see anything in the trailers that made me scream "OMG I need to have a Lego set of that"...  Sure, I was hoping to get some fresh stuff from the [Spoilers] Era, but there is a solid chance that one of the sets still currently in review on Ideas might pass, and we do have a bunch of CMFs.

Ah, or maybe I'm being a bit too dismissive...  Is there anything in the trailers (or perhaps in the spoilers) that would make a great MOC, even if it isn't going to be an official set?

And on that note, are we at the point where we ALREADY HAVE all of the elements we could possibly need for any Indiana Jones / Adventurers MOC you could ever imagine?

Simply put, are there any other specific elements or cultures we could possibly need to create the world's coolest MOCs in an archaeological or exploration type of vibe?

The new Indiana Jones hat with grey hair to make mocs of Kingdom and Dial of Destiny.

I do love the new sets. I think I want to heavily modify the Raiders concept.

I want to recreate the entire sequence proportional to the film. Not only proportional in scale, but accurate in set design.

The image below is from the Indiana Jones Ultimate Guide hardcover.

Indytemple.jpg

And a great screenshot from the set design RAIDERS Set Design

The set design photo shows that the boulder is about 10 to 12 feet away from the main golden idol room. It curves around the room leading to the room with spikes. As you can see in the cross section this sorta gives a rough estimate on proportions and size for the entire set. The boulder was about 10 to 12 feet in diameter. If I use that and the golden idol room set photos as a clue to scale. I would say the idol room was about 24 foot diameter. The set photos and screen shots of the movie from the guide book and internet searches sorta clue how large this area was. I would think that the entire set would rest on less than a 2ft length and be easy to develope hinges to open up like a rolling mat to reveal the entire sequence for display. The entire set could be built with a 2/3 ratio display like the current set. The finished area to complete the build as a fully emmerse environment would rolll out and then detach with technic pins. This means the entire right side of the model would not be used when in display mode. I think it would roll out to be about 3 to 4ft wide.

The boulder sequence isn't as long as it appears to be in the filmnwhen you see the set design photo. It may only be 30 to 40 studs wide. I would need to do some blue print design ideas to mapnout the concept, but I think it may solve the scale issue.

The nice part of doing it this way you can do gears and such under or behind the set without an issue by raising it up about 10 bricks fir a nice pit effect or leave it flat like the set. The floor would be able to be pressure sensitive and activate different items or just have motion to them. The floor patterns and stone work could be displayed nicer with this concept as well.

May attempt to moc up a layout or floor plan to see what looks right.

I have bought the two smaller sets a few weeks ago, and they make a fantastic display.

They have some of the best value I've ever seen in LEGO sets. I still genuinely can't believe that The Lost Tomb is priced 40€. If it was a Star Wars set, they'd sell it for twice as much (they actually would, that's not an ironic statement).

I was cruising across Baltic Sea and the ship I was on had a gift shop which also sells LEGO, turns out the two smaller Indiana Jones sets were there with tax free price. I would have bought them if I had some space in my luggage. Now I must wait till June for them to be released in my country. :sceptic:

Sad to see that the new movie is getting obliterated by critics. Perhaps Lego dodged a bullet not releasing any sets for this one?

Hopefully the three classic sets have been selling well enough for Lego to consider continuing the theme in a limited capacity, even if that means only getting one 18+ set per year under Icons.

I’d love to be wrong, but I think for some reason that this wave was a one and done :(

There’s been no chatter at all about any potential future sets from LEGO or the leak community, it’s sad to see because I think they could’ve had the potential to make this an evergreen theme like Star Wars and like Harry Potter has become.

The overall review spectrum seems to indicate that it’s a competently made film, just not a very impactful one. Really thought this one was going to blow people away, but I’ll reserve my opinions for after I see it myself. No doubt I’ll enjoy it even if it isn’t the best.

But yeah, not surprised anymore that a lot of companies chose to forgo full-on DoD merchandise.

I guess the issue with any Indiana Jones film (regardless of who makes it) is that it will always be compared to Raiders. I think if you look back far enough Doom and Crusade also had a fair share of negative reviews.

Hopefully we'll get something in the future.

This is so true, and I say that as someone who prizes The Last Crusade above everything else!

The more I think about it, the more I feel DoD should’ve at least got one set just for some sort of representation. Getting the tomb from the trailers at a similar size and price point to the Well of Souls would’ve been lovely to see, and Ancient Greek / Egyptian tombs are clearly different enough that they wouldn’t cannibalise each other’s sales

I’m just glad we got some solid sets out of this line, even if it was short lived.

Just realized that with the movie releasing in around a month from now, it's far too late to announce a tie-in Lego video game. Even a remaster of the first two games for modern consoles (similar to the HP collection a few years ago) would have been great. Another odd missed opportunity with this reboot.

Unfortunately I don’t think a video game was ever on the table, there just isn’t the same sort of interest in Indiana Jones the way there was in 2008. It’s not just Lego that’s being incredibly minimalist with their Indy merch either, Hasbro is too - although admittedly they are producing a fair number of 6” figures on the classic films and a handful from Dial of Destiny.

I’d say the way they treated Indy was less than minimalist. What I consider the bare minimum would have been one set per movie and at least one BrickHead

Also, if Reddit is any indication, there are still A LOT of people expecting more sets to be released :laugh_hard: Who’s gonna tell them?

Sure, but I would argue that the intense marketing push before KotCS was the reason that the franchise had more interest back in 2008. It reignited the movies for an entire new generation, including myself. The first Lego IJ game may have been the first introduction to the series for many people.

Same with me! Lego was actually the reason I got into Indy back then.

2008 was just something else, not just in terms of toys, but with books too. It was a great time for IJ.

@BrickBob Studpants All it takes is for Lego to release a formal statement definitely confirming this is it for the theme. They chose to obfuscate things further with their ambiguous press release after all, haha.

I really would have loved to see more Last Crusade sets.
