It would depend on the extent. If he just showed up at the end? Definately not. If he replaced Helena (Character indy has a connection too, except actually this time. And much more likeable), I think it would have been much better, and I may actually have been ok with the sort of undoing of that end twist with Indy, since it'd come from a place of love.

No, but you're assuming he'd be well written. You have to factor in the fact he'd be written at the same level of quality than the rest of the movie.

(Like I enjoyed Indy 5, but I do agree it's not very good (very bad actually))

Man, it's been a week and a half since I saw this and I already forgot almost everything about it. Just long slogs of empty action broken up by soulless dialogue to further the plot and unfunny quips.

Not a single frame of this movie is beautiful to look at. Say what you will about any of the original trilogy or even Crystal Skulls, there's points where you could pause the movie and it would look like a photo from an art gallery. Just great framing and unique design. Indy staring at the fertility idol, Indy running from the boulder, Indy staring down the snake, Indy on the rope bridge threatening  Mola Ram, Indy fighting with Mola Ram over the sachel, Indy punching the Nazi on the tank, etc.

The new movie had none of that unfortunately, not a single moment that made me think this is something fresh or unique.

Anyone seen a recreation of the Temple of Doom set? I might make an effort at it once I’m back home, but I’m out of state for the month, and if someone has a better one, no reason to really do so, provided instructions exist too.

Thank ye for sharing, lovely to see people recreating a set that could have been. :pir-cry_sad: Praise to the author! :pir-thumb:

I only read this part at first and thought you were dissing the new transformers in response to my prime day joke, and I was about to throw digital hands. We finally got one that isn't terrible!

But yeah, couldn't agree more about indy 5. Nothing sticks out about it, which is funny, because this is arguably more fantastical than KotCS. (Though the movie's fantasy elements are at least more in line with the OT than "aliens skulls from interdimensional beings"), and it's just a gross, empty film. I feel bad for Ford, but I suppose since he's joining the MCU now he's just going for paychecks for his family at this point.

He's one of my favorite actors growing up and he can do whatever he wants, but does he even need the paychecks at this point? He's probably got 9 figures in the bank already.

Oh and as far as Transformers go...I haven't seen it yet, but I was a big Beast Wars fan when that series was getting no attention. But no Rattrap? I get why Depth Charge (my favorite Maximal) wouldn't be in it...but where's the mouse with the mouth?!

Eh, you can always get more for your family. He certainly doesn't "need" it, but I can't imagine he's joining the MCU because he loves the character Red Hulk.

No Rattrap. The maximals don't get much screen time aside from Primal and Airrazor, and my guess is they figured a rat would be confusing for the audience who hadn't seen beast wars and would wonder why a rat was alongside an eagle, gorrila, cheetah, and rhino.

So the the two unknown BrickHeadz turned out to be Sonic and Tails. Dang it, I was really hoping for an Indy BrickHead!

I’m probably the only one here annoyed at the lack of BrickHead representation, but it’s sad that Indy is now the only licensed minifig theme I can think of that doesn‘t have a single BrickHead  Even Minions and Avatar got a few!

Now that Gringotts and the Ahsoka sets have been revealed, my final ranking for this year is:

  1. Disney 100
  2. Harry Potter
  3. Lord of the Rings
  4. Star Wars
  5. Indiana Jones
  6. Jurassic Park
  7. Marvel
  8. Super Mario
  9. DC

Ouch. I really thought Indy would easily take the top spot this year, but not with that miniscule effort  I was thinking about placing it below Jurassic Park and Marvel even, but I like the three sets too much for that.

I‘m not sure if I‘d be less harsh had the cancellation and false rumours not occurred, because this is a weak offering either way.

Finally saw the movie! We had the movie theatre to ourselves because everyone was seeing barbenheimer. LEGO definitely could have made a few great sets from that movie it’s such a shame they didnt

Haha nice ranking, the Ahsoka content single-handedly boosted Star Wars right up there for me as well.

My overall thoughts on Indy are that for the sets we did get, Lego really went all the way for them - with the exception of not giving Henry Sr. an accurate hat, which is of course intolerable. Would it have really been that much of a hassle?

Most if not all of us saw it coming from a mile away that Indy’s return this year had a fraction of the fanfare from both the Lucasfilm / license partner side as well as from audiences that we saw in 2008. 2008 was a different beast entirely and being a kid during that era was truly something else. Even if a lot of merchandise eventually hit clearance prices, both Lego and Hasbro delivered on all fronts back then.

Hasbro has done a great job for mature collectors with their Adventure Series lineup - pretty much all the major characters from the original films and DoD were covered. If nothing else, it would have been cool if the Lego April wave for Indy was simply bigger by a couple of more sets or so to truly ‘celebrate’ the older films. I’m sure those would’ve sold just as well as the three sets we did see.

But again, what we did get is fantastic. Even if Lego played it safe with this lineup, who can deny the value for money? Not to mention Temple of the Golden Idol being ‘up there’ as one of the best Lego sets in recent memory. For what Lego did do, they certainly put the effort in.

Some cynic had to come up here and say it; three sets wasn't nearly enough and the cancellation of the five(?) others is my biggest LEGO-related disappointment in years. Three sets, all of which are remakes of existing ones, was far from an adequate tie-in to the new film. Were they great sets, even better than the old ones? 100%. But I'm gonna be ticked off if they cap off the theme at just these three, Indiana Jones was my favorite franchise growing up so I'm blind to the general consensus but going off of the Ghostbusters comparison, we should've gotten at least one set for the new film. Ghostbusters 2016 and Afterlife both did, granted LEGO could probably tell that DOD was gonna fail but the trailers for Ghostbusters 2016 were met with a generally negative consensus yet they still released 75828 and the Dimensions sets. Both Ghostbusters and Back to the Future got a Brickheadz duo when there wasn't even a new film releasing and yet Indy can't even get one when there is. Maybe I just have my head up my butt but I'm not a fan of how they cancelled last minute, leaving buyers to choose from only three sets, the predecessors of which they could very well already own (I have both the old Well of Souls and Golden Idol Temple).

And yet Potterheads get to eat from a silver spoon this year, with nothing in the series aside from Hogwarts Legacy (which got no sets) coming this year. Sigh.

Technically, only one set has been cancelled. We don't know if the other four ever existed in the first place, and my gut says no :shrug_confused: That said, I'll go even further than that and call it the single biggest LEGO-related disappointment in my 24 years of collecting, and by a LARGE margin. I had been disappointed plenty of times before, but mostly at characters being omitted (like Bolg, a lot of HP characters pre-2018, Saw Gerrera etc.) or unnecessary remakes being released (like the 2021 HP wave, which turned out to be much better than anticipated, but I digress).

This is on a completely different level. Of course the (fake?) rumour is also partially to blame, but I would've been disappointed in the lack of DoD sets either way, whether sets were rumoured or not. Nobody would've guessed that they'd bring the back the theme only to skip the new movie.

There is a tiny chance that they might rectify this next year with another wave, but I have my doubts. There is no precedence for a theme that started with such a small wave to continue into the following year.

Technically, it did. The big Ecto-1 model had the gunner seat that only appeared in Afterlife plus all the rust stickers  Too bad there were no playsets

I genuinely forgot about that one!

Everyone really treats that as based on the original film, myself included. I would be willing to bet that the rust stickers are some of the most unused stickers of any Lego set.

But yeah, I have to agree. This has been pretty disappointing to see. Maybe it would have been better to focus more on the adult-oriented sets, like most of the other merchandise? My last bit of hope is another diorama set next year if sales were good enough.

I bought the two Lego IJ games during the summer Steam sale, and was reflecting as I began to replay Original Adventures. Those games, along with the original wave of sets, are really the driver behind my love of the franchise itself. Last year, I was hoping for a remake game using the Skywalker Saga engine. Now, I'm shocked that they didn't even go to the effort of remastering the original games for the current generation of systems. Everything about this revival, even beyond Lego's efforts, is not going to generate the excitement that the KotCS revival did, and that bums me out.

Surprise surprise, no Indy sets in 2024  Time to organise the funeral

Although the 770 set number continues with that new theme. Could be more sets or perhaps the fact they’re  leave a gap between the previous numbers could mean we’re getting a couple more Indy sets.

Surely after all the cancelled sets they won’t continue this theme?

The new theme turned out to be Animal Crossing (allegedly). No relation to Indy and gaps in set numbers don’t mean anything.

Besides, we have the set numbers for every single theme for the first half of 2024. Chances for more sets in 2HY are virtually non-existent, so stick a fork in it, the theme is done
