The new theme turned out to be Animal Crossing (allegedly). No relation to Indy and gaps in set numbers don’t mean anything.

Besides, we have the set numbers for every single theme for the first half of 2024. Chances for more sets in 2HY are virtually non-existent, so stick a fork in it, the theme is done

Sadly you’re probably right, maybe we’ll get some more in the future after Lego realises how well these sets sell. Where did you see that the new theme was animal crossing?

Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing to suggest that more sets are planned.
The sales figures are certainly good among the fans, I myself have bought the three sets many times.
However, it is not possible to estimate the size of the sales in the overall market.
Unfortunately, that will mainly play a role.
Unless LEGO would do some fan service.

The DoD movie flop in sales worries me. LEGO might mistakenly assume a DoD theme might flop and that the franchise might be uninteresting in general and therefore might not be interested in releasing more sets.
That's my big concern.

Or you could look at it and say that if the LEGO sets have sold well, despite the movie being a flop, then maybe LEGO are OK to make Indiana Jones sets in the future without there being a movie tie-in. If LEGO thinks they can only do sets with associated media, then it will be a very long time before they even consider it again. If ever.

If they really thought the sets would sell without the movie „hype“, they wouldn‘t have delayed them an entire year  Chances for more sets were already slim, but with DoD flopping and no sets being listed for 2024, we can safely assume the theme is done for good.

People like to bring up Jurassic World, but that‘s an evergreen theme that had multiple successful movies and a show recently, and kids love dinosaurs. Indy is not comparable on any level

Well, from a strategic point of view, I too had probably waited with my company, even if I had been convinced of the success, in order to take the hype of the film On-TOP.

But regardless of that, I now consider ToD sets to be extremely unlikely.

I still have some hope, or see a chance that LEGO could celebrate 40 years of ToD next year and then 77014 will be re-released depending on what actually caused the cancellation. Or another alternative ToD set.
Another diorama would also be possible, or maybe another revival for "The Last Crusade" in 2029.

Always assuming that the global sales figures were really very good or sensational and LEGO wants to exploit that self-aggrandizement and/or sell it as fan service.

Maybe a LEGO Ideas design will make it onto the market if LEGO no longer uses the franchise or license itself.

But I'm not estimating the chances here either, but I'm not ruling it out.

But I'm afraid that Indiana Jones LEGO is over as a theme.

Depending on where you are you might find great discounts on the 2023 Indy sets at a certain monster e-tailer… I paid full price for “Escape from the lost tomb” when it was released as it felt like good value by current TLG standards (and a great parts pack). I bought two more today because they were 30% off, i.e. below 4ppp, with valuable parts and useful minifigs. For once I don’t think I tricked myself with silly lego maths to justify a purchase:)

77014 temple of doom release date 2024 its been modified to take out some of the stuff that caused controversy.

Whether this happens is a different story, but it is most likely the case.

Let me be the first to say welcome and don't be surprised if your very first post with your brand new account isn't taken seriously.

@TheOGLegoGuy: It’s been confirmed that the set has been cancelled, not delayed. The theme is as dead as a doornail. Time to move on.

Not completely dead. there's still a bunch of listings we don't know.

Um, where exactly? If you’re referring to 77016-19, those sets most likely never existed. Promobricks made one vague reference to them last year and they were subsequently never mentioned again  It’s over.

Agreed on it being over. This theme has ridden off into the sunset....

No, I'm referring to the 2024 Listings

Currently, there are no 2024 listings that are still unaccounted for in terms of what themes they belong to, at least as far as I'm aware. 77046-50, which are pretty close to the Indy set numbers, are Animal Crossing sets. The other unknown sets clearly belong to specific themes based on their numbers, none of which are Indy. Sure, they could theoretically have decided to go the LOTR route and give us one larger yearly set in the Icons range, but there is nothing backing this up, and it would be an extremely weird move.

I am also now almost completely convinced that LEGO Indiana Jones has found its end.

In addition to the reasons I have already explained, there is another indication of this.

The initial batches of 77015 came with a spare hat piece, since around early June the sets are being shipped without this extra hat piece.

I bought the whole SET series a few times between April and today.

Until the beginning of July there were still some leftovers of the first batches.
Meanwhile mostly only sets, with only one hat piece.

Of course, this can also be a packaging error, but it looks like an overproduction was used.

Now, LEGO isn't known for gifts of all things.

Whether it was from the canceled 77014 ToD set or from overproduction, if LEGO were planning to use the hat piece in another future set, they would have put it in storage rather than scattering it onto the market from initial production batches.

In general, this gives the impression that the mold in this color combination would not be used any longer, at least for the time being or in the near future.

Otherwise there is still not a single tangible and really relevant indication that anything is coming in the near future.

As bad as the series has been treated from the start, I think it's highly likely that the sets will be withdrawn as early as late 2024, if not sooner.

I had a extra whip in the fighter plane chase, so that's a packaging error. I also had one of the tomb sets with the extra hat. I don't think Lego would toss in pieces from over production.

As for the future of the theme, maybe we can hope for a adult set every now and then? We'll see. Fingers crossed. Lego works in mysterious ways :pir_laugh2:

It‘s not, the whip is a standard extra part  It wasn‘t before, but they changed what parts qualify for extras and which don‘t a few years back. The jewel piece for instance used to not have an extra copy in each set, but now it does :classic:

I wouldn‘t read too deeply into the extra hat „issue“. I doubt they‘d get rid of excess stock by giving the parts away like that.

I didn't notice an extra whip in the other 4 Indy sets (2x temple, 2x tomb) i bought :shrug_confused:

But maybe i am just unaware of those :pir_laugh2:

If only the same could have been said about the films themselves.

Maybe 20 years down the road, they'll discover some old unreleased Lego sets in the trunk of a vehicle in Roswell, NM.

I'm still mad we didn't get a sand green 50's "US Army" staff car and a Model T hot-rod race set back in 2008... The less said about lost potential for this year's sets, the better.

Oh, that could have certainly been made as a set. However, the Army staff car seems too much of a military vehicle (even for LEGO Indy standards ).

Counterpoint: Sarge from CARS universe is a WW2 military jeep, right down to the star on his hood, and was released in 2011. That same white star is all they would have had to put on it - nothing more. Everyone would recognize what it was.

But it's all moot now.

Ah, I forgot about Sarge. In that case, it could have been done, shame there wasn't a set of these vehicles. :sceptic:
