icm Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 And there's no insignia on the suit to clearly mark it as the Nazi-era Luftwaffe or even as German. It's only recognizable if you're really into the weeds of different flying uniforms. Otherwise it's a generic tan flight suit without any markings. I don't think this particular flight suit is a problem. Again, we've hashed this out before. Do we really need to argue about Indiana Jones minifigs for the umpteenth time? Quote

Blacktron or Voldemort didn't kill anyone's relatives(in the real world). While the Nazis and Soviets have killed and plundered all over the world. My family has lost several members fighting against those two ideologies so therefore i find it highly inappropriate to have Nazi or Soviet minifigs and also because Lego policy prohibits depiction of modern warfare. Of course new interest in the franchise could revive it, but until that happens, the theme is done. Quote

This doesn't change the fact that they DO put those figures in sets, just not labeled as such. They did it with the original line and they did it with the reboot this past year. I don't understand why we're arguing whether or not lego would do it when they literally did so in the most recent wave of sets for the theme. 15 minutes ago, legoturtle said: How you know this? He doesn't mean it's legally unable to come back or anything... but seriously, dude. If it's gone for 10-15 years, for the time being, it's over. Also they don't really put themes "on hold". They're getting sets or they're gone. Doesn't mean they can't revive em- bionicle came back 5 years after it's death, and there are rumblings it'll return once more in 2025 after 8 years. Indy itself returned after what, 14 years? But that doesn't change the fact that for the time being, the theme is functionally gone. TLDR, for what feels like every comment I've left on this thread- They have already produced lego nazi figures in both iterations of this theme, just not labeled as such. There is no reason to argue whether or not they would- they HAVE. The theme is gone. There's no reason to argue semantics over whether it'll return with a reboot of the franchise, or 5 years from now, or 10 years from now. It is over for the foreseeable future. Quote

legoturtle Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 Hmm... Adventurers. I think that horrible Dreamzzz is problem. It is very far from more original adventure theme. It is sad day for us if don't have Indy or Johnny. Quote

We are getting off topic, but (as others have said MANY times before in other places) you do realize you can have multiple action /adventure themes running at the same time? Ninjago AND DreamZzz for example, are running concurrently and BOTH are doing quite well. If you think it's horrible, don't buy it... somebody else will probably pick up the slack! Back to topic: Disney put out an hour-long documentary on IJ around the time they released DoD to streaming. They make it emphatically clear in said documentary that IJ is over when Harrison Ford retires rom acting and or dies (which ever comes first) and they will not be recasting it. This edict comes from Kathleen Kennedy and the Disney / Lucasfilm execs directly. In my opinion: It would be insulting to Harrison Ford's legacy to recast. If they had decided to recast Marcus Brody or Henry Jones Sr. in Crystal Skull it would have divided the fans. Do that to Indiana Jones himself, and you just killed the franchise in one swift shot. In fact, I can only think of one successful franchise that does this (with multiple characters to boot!): James Bond. If you want a example in the other direction, look at the bad guy (I can't spell his name for the life of me) from the three Wizard World / Fantastic Beasts films - three films, three actors and one franchise deader than Harry Potter's parents. It is clear they won´t do something the next years (although even there you never know if they aren´t just doing some animation series of whatever, where you don´t need to recast anyways). But that won´t hold them of from doing so in lets say in twenty years. 15 minutes ago, Murdoch17 said: In my opinion: It would be insulting to Harrison Ford's legacy to recast. Sure there are many that think of him as the only one that can play Indiana. But in the end everyone can be replaced if they want to and even make a good film from that - the real problem I see there is they need a good story. I finally watched IJ5 yesterday, and well. While it surely had good moments, it also had clear weaknesses. And storytelling was one of those. Quote

We do hae Ninjago and Monkie Kid themes. I LOVE non-licensed themes and I only like very few licensed themes. Sorry that I got you upse that I said I’m glad Indiana Jones theme is dead. legoturtle Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I believe that when Harrison Ford has past away - they will reboot whole franchise. Dreamzzz and Ninjago take so much time and effort from TLG... and that's why other adventure themes don't get attention. BUT there is a light in the end of very long and dark tunnel. We have to follow 2024 what happens in Space subtheme. It can change everything. Quote

DreamZzz was just launched this past summer while Ninjago is an evergreen theme (it came out in 2011). I mean, sure DreamZzz takes a lot of efforts and time since the theme has alternative modes but it’s a very new theme. I’m not just sure what is your point about DreamZzz tho. I’m surprised that you don’t mention “Monkie Kid” at all… it’s an adventure theme too. Sorry, folks, for random subject here. Quote
legoturtle Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I am trying to say that we 3 boring and quite similar "adventure themes"... (Ninjago, Monkey Kid, Dreamzzz). Some could argue that those 2 are made for Asian market. Dreamzzz is this new, how to say it... what movies ja tv shows are in this time. There is now sense. Kids have really amazing dreams - and those are quite basic. We get these bit more traditional adventure sets from CITY subthemes. I have heard that maybe Jungle in 2024. BUT adventure themes at the moment are very limited :/ Amazing thing of course it that for me adventure is Orient Express and Natural History Museum. I try to get those. Quote

You are spot-on about Monkey kid being made for China- IIRC it's become lego store exclusive in the west, but that's about all you've gotten correct here. (Ninjago is definitely not made for china or relevant at all to asian culture beyond the word ninja being part of the title- the theme reads like an 8 year old's fever dream. Mechs, race cars, dragons-and not asian styled dragons at that-colorful heroes, ninja, robots, etc) This isn't remotely how lego distributes themes. They have many different designers who tend to work on different themes. The existence of other themes does nothing to impact Indy unless it's covering the same general niche, like Adventurers would. Monkie Kid, Ninjago, and Dreams are nothing like Indy. There is no worry about competing with Indy sets, and their existence does nothing to alter the chances of getting indy sets. Space also really has nothing to do with the odds of getting Indy sets either. It's a new way of doing a "theme" in that it reaches across multiple existing themes, but they're all unlicensed. Lego can't put the space triangle on, for instance, a star wars set. We're not gonna have an "adventurers" version of this that involves Indy sets. Edited December 27, 2023 by Mandalorianknight Quote

DreamZzz has been given a second wave and produces some great parts. Monkie Kid has been around since 2020 and has produced some jaw dropping sets in size and execution. And you could argue that it was made for the Asian market? Really? It's a Chinese story that was first published some 430 years ago, one of the greatest works of Asian literature, and most of the characters in the theme come from the story. There's no could argue about it. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 They can reboot the Indiana Jones franchise at any time, even without Indiana Jones. Just imagine a university student, who's last name is Jones by coincidence and is from Indianapolis, finds some artifacts (that are linked to Indy) in the archives or depots of the university and the story goes from there... Everything is possible in Hollywood Quote
RichardGoring Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 I really hope they don't reboot Indiana Jones. They've done some great movies, but leave them there and come up with something original, rather than a movie that will always be compared to nostalgic excellence. But for LEGO, nostalgia can be great, and they could easily do one off sets in the future, especially if the adults branding continues for the next few years. They've done Back to the Future and Lord of the Rings sets with no new movies (RoP notwithstanding). Plenty of other licensed one offs that they are happy to do to speak to that audience. Play sets may be trickier to come by though. Quote
legoturtle Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 This video is a bit older BUT something went really wrong with launch. Did Disney make this on purpose... first bad marketing with the movie and then with the theme. Quote
