legoturtle Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Well... I won't give up. I have started to build Indy-Desert-Jungle-Temple-Minecraft (MOC) ... vibes from Adventure & Pharao's Quest. When I am ready I try to send it to LEGO Ideas and send postcard for LEGO... where is image of it. Adventurers are Indy Junior, Indy Senior, Johnny Thunder, Pippin Reed and Doctor Kilroy. BYE for NOW! Quote
TheOGLegoGuy Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 (edited) Rejoice, Indiana Jones fans., a piece from the temple of doom set has been revealed and it was supposed to be the voodoo doll that the maharaja uses. And it is weird that all of a sudden Got leaked. Maybe the set has been put into production and it has passed the point. Edited January 9, 2024 by TheOGLegoGuy Quote
Black Falcon Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 I didn´t want to answer, but whatever. I would advice to read the thread (at least the last sites) before posting "news" then you would have realised that this was already discussed here. ;) As for the figure all is said about it I think and I just hope we don´t start the loop again. Dude, stop trolling the turtle guy. @legoturtle, just a heads up before you see the other guy's info- the piece is the one that already leaked and we already discussed. The "June set list" is a referral to a list of sets rumored to be for June 2023. It's been known for a good number of months that those sets were either cancelled or never existed in the first place. The theme is over, there's no new info. There is nothing wrong with holding out hope, but unless there is actual new information on the sets, there's nothing left to discuss in this thread. Quote
legoturtle Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 First of all he is not trolling anyone. Indiana Jones Franchise is not going anywhere. I really hope that they make Temple of Doom set. What ever was wrong in that set. ALSO... Indy 5 would be only movie where there is not any LEGO sets? Who you gonna explain that for a children who just saw indy 5? Quote

Who you gonna explain that for a children who just saw indy 5? REGARDLESS OF WHAT'S HAPPENENING WITH THE FRANCHISE (even though they HAVE publicly stated Lucasfilm is shifting focus back away from it and other non Star Wars properties, and the only project coming is a game), the theme is over. Doesn't matter whether or not lego/disney/lucasfilm was right to cancel the temple of doom set, THEY DID. We've had the discussion of why it might have been since before april 2023. It doesn't matter. The set's not coming. I dunno, but if there were sets coming, lego would have released them around the time the movie came out. A kid who saw indy 5 last june may have been interested in indy 5 sets... last june. Whatever lego's reasoning was (assumably they were able to see it was going to bomb and didn't want to risk sets for an unpopular film), they made their choice. There are no Indy 5 sets coming. There are no more indiana jones sets at all coming. That isn't to say it'll never again happen, but for the time being, the theme is dead. Seriously man. Quote

Who you gonna explain that for a children who just saw indy 5? Oh my god. I don't want to exacerbate this car crash of a thread but seriously. Those posts were entirely worded as troll speak, nothing more. Indeed the theme isn't going anywhere, but that's because things can't move if you cryogenically freeze them. See also dead and buried. If (and it's a pretty big if I must say) Lego do produce a Temple of Doom set, it a) won't be of the actual temple and b) won't be for some time. Lego have such a storied history of not producing sets for every film in a franchise, or every location, or especially every character, that a lack of sets for the fifth film is a non story. More than that, like a non story+. I would say to a child who had just seen Indy 5, "Sorry about that, honestly the first two are much better than that." Quote
legoturtle Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Well... 1 theory might be that if LEGO would have released Temple of Doom same time than Golden Idol temple - it would have compete together. NOW ToD can come later this or next year. MAYBE the issue was not religion. Or that there is something wrong with set. MAYBE it is just a marketing strategy. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 (edited) For the love of everything ABS, @Clone OPatra can you please shut down this thread? It's gone beyond ridiculous to absurd and is approaching insane... Personally it seems like a select few of the members are trolling the rest of us. No joke, I honestly can't tell anymore. RichardGoring Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Before it get shuts down then, I'm hoping to build an extension to the Temple of the Golden Idol. User softguy on Reddit did one and it looks terrfic. Modified 77015 Golden Idol Temple : lego (reddit.com) I'm still surprised how little there is on Rebrickable for this though. It would be awesome to get a few more sections. Quote

It would be awesome to get a few more sections. That's not a bad modification, and a pretty sweet mechanism. It speaks to the unfortunate comparative lack of interest in the theme. Indy's a great film franchise, but as a college student right now- the majority of my campus hasn't seen the films. If early 20-somethings haven't seen em, I doubt the current Ipad generation's watching them. 1 hour ago, Murdoch17 said: Personally it seems like a select few of the members are trolling the rest of us. I'm sorry, man, but there's no way this is the case. They're completely different sets, marketed to different age ranges, with different figures, overall shapes, action/play features, etc. They're no more likely to overlap than any two star wars ships of similar sizes. The reason it was cancelled doesn't matter- IT WAS CANCELLED. IT IS OVER. You've got to let the Grail go... Quote
legoturtle Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Maybe those people are trolling who come to this topic to tell... hey!! that is a troll, that one also! and so on... Go AWAY!! ok? ... Indy will continue. I'am 100 % sure of that. BUT we don't know when and how. I also wait for Temple of Doom set and SETS (yes, you heard right) sets from Dial of Destiny movie which is a Digital Movie success (for example in Apple TV, where I have almost 400 movies). And obviously all indy movies. We will have a indy game. Maybe indy TV-serie and after that only sky is a limit. ... Think about this for 1 second. If Lucasfilm, Disney, Bethesda.... or others who own this franchise - IF they don't make another indy movie, tv-show, game, animation... SOMEBODY else will AND yes it is always their worst villain company. For example in this chase Apple or Amazon or Google or Microsoft. Then Disney loses market % ... for their competitors. Not good :/ Quote

Not good :/ Sorry to everyone saying the thread is done, I have to reply to this because man, this is just objectively not how IP works. Disney has a copyright on indiana jones. Other companies cannot make Indiana Jones media unless disney allows them to. 9 hours ago, legoturtle said: I also wait for Temple of Doom set and SETS (yes, you heard right) sets from Dial of Destiny movie which is a Digital Movie success (for example in Apple TV, where I have almost 400 movies). Alright this is gonna be the last time I post in this thread, but look man. Doubling down on how concretely you believe new sets are coming, when new sets aren't coming, doesn't actually make them more likely. The sets are not coming. Dial of Destiny's streaming numbers- which aren't anything spectacular by the way- won't make lego decide to produce another line of sets. The theme is, for the time being, over. I have no more ways to explain this to you. Maybe we'll get an Icons set in a few years if we're lucky, but the indiana jones lego theme is dead, and with lucasfilm actively stepping away from new indy content, and as such there being no plans for a new film or show, it's unlikely to return anytime soon. Quote
legoturtle Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 How you all know that new sets are not coming? For example Bethesda is making an Indiana Jones video game. Then in summer 2023 Kathlyn Kennedy said that they have been considering to develop Indiana Jones TV-show. BUT not series where there is indy as. similar person. It could be Indy junior as young OR something completely different. Like now with Star Wars, if you have heard the latest news... :/ Quote
legoturtle Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 This is my next step... or even some custom legos? ( . . . . . for example: Custom LEGO Indiana Jones: Colonel Vogel (Last Crusade) ) Quote
legoturtle Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 Ok. My journey continues... I found this guy! LOOK how much Indiana Jones Related LEGO videos... https://www.youtube.com/@MiniSuperHeroesToday/search?query=indiana jones Quote

Mandalorianknight Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 The new game looks AWESOME. It almost certainly won't lead to new sets, but it's nice to know indy lives, even if not in plastic form. (Plus @legoturtle has a lot of enthusiasm for the franchise and I thought I'd post so he could share his excitement about the game in a post) Quote
legoturtle Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 (edited) Trust me... Indy is not going anywhere - it newer has. Playmobile, HASBRO and other toys / minifigures, movies, tv-shows, animation shows & movies, LEGO games and other games, even LEGO makes sets... and how long it is that you can watch indy in movie theatre or like me Apple TV - where it has been 1 of the most best selling movies. BUT like moderators said - I am no longer able to write this topic, otherwise they will throw me away. (I still hope that temple of doom is coming BUT also sets from the new movie). 1 interesting thing is that CITY will have 4 Jungle based sets in summer 2024. Well I will now go and find video clips about the upcoming BETHESDA game. It is very sad that the moderators here don't want us to talk about indy... those who complain, they could take a break from this topic or ignore me / block me for example. PEACE and INDY my friends <33 Edited January 19, 2024 by legoturtle Quote
RichardGoring Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 I really could see LEGO doing a series of Icons sets from Indiana Jones. One per year or two, aimed at adults, fairly large, iconic scenes. It seems like the right kind of market for them, and it's a Disney property, so the rights should be easy enough to make it worth it for infrequent sets. The issue with playsets is that LEGO takes such a long time to get things into production (for various good reasons), and so trying to plan based on the popularity of a new movie or game is hard. They've been burned with enough movie flops, and it seems like they react late to popular culture, when they do at all. Even Star Wars doesn't get the volume of sets you'd expect for some of the new shows they're doing - but again, some are really popular, others less so. Which is why you end up with a stream of land speeders, X-wings, Falcons etc. To prompt a real discussion, what actual adult-focused, larger sets (probably $80+) do you think LEGO could do in the Icons range? The Holy Grail temple is the obvious one, and you could do the journey in a similar way to the Golden Idol temple. Nice one on LEGO Ideas from a few years ago - LEGO IDEAS - Indiana Jones: The Temple of the Holy Grail Quote
