I think that‘s a stretch. If minifigs of Soviet soldiers are indeed an issue due to recent events, they had plenty of time to remove them from the set and just include Spalko & Dovchenko as the antagonists. And triple agent Mac

Speaking of which: Would be really nice to finally have Mac and Oxley as minifigs! If the $150 set is based on KotCS, the chances aren‘t even bad!

Didn't think about that, but I'm not sure it'd be a huge issue. The Soviets have been gone for decades. Sort of an Empire/First Order thing. That said, lego's pretty squeamish about that stuff sometimes, so maybe they would remove them. Or make them super obviously soviet with the red star and stuff, which would be nice.

Definately would be nice to have a Mac figure. Though he's not a triple agent, he was just lying about the double.

I think Lego can pretty easily avoid the Soviets. I still doubt that the biggest set in this wave will be dedicated to most people's least favorite film out of the existing four. If Lego was going to do a set for each movie in this initial wave, they would have probably just dedicated the smallest one to KOTCS. Since they didn't, I doubt we're getting any sets from that film unless they do more Indy sets in 2HY 2023 or beyond at least. I still think the most likely option for the $150 set is the temple from the opening of Raiders of the Lost Ark, basically a giant, more detailed version of 7623. I just don't see Lego bringing this theme back and not representing the most iconic scene in the whole franchise. Maybe it's even an 18+ styled set and details surrounding it could be a bit more secretive.

Lots of potential there.

I could see a New York Parade chase set with Indy on the Horse, the car and the guy on the bike.

The Nazi train would make a good set. (Still waiting on the Circus train from TLC ).

I think that last scene could make a nice little battle / duel set.

Am I the only who has low expectations when it comes to the new movie sets?

Personally I think Lego has dropped the ball with licensed sets lately, those wave 1 Avatar were certainly disappointing.

Maybe Indy will have a better budget we'll have to wait and see.

So far I haven't seen anything that could potentially be a big hit but don't think there would be shelf warmers either, it has potential.

I thought those Avatar sets where prettty good, despite not being bothered by the film (unless we are talking about original Avatar, which reigns supreme over the rest :pir-grin:).

Hey, that trailer looks really promising. I'm trying to keep expectations low since Lego has had a pretty shaky track record with movie tie-ins in recent years and we're only getting four sets, but here's my wishlist:

  • A smaller set with the Tuk Tuks and maybe a couple market stalls
  • A set based on Indy riding the horse in the parade with some period accurate cars or maybe some parade floats (we've never really gotten those in Lego aside from the Lunar New Year stuff)
  • Something from that cool under water sequence (been feeling a little nostalgic for the old Atlantis sets lately)
  • The train scene with young Mads and Indy in some form. Unfortunately, set photos show that it's absolutely plastered in swastikas and eagles so I don't know if that's all to likely

I'm assuming we're still pretty far out from official pictures since we're just getting January reveals at this point, but here's to hoping Lego teases us with a minifigure or something by the end of the year :excited:

I'm not expecting anything this month but hopefully we finally get to see something next month, even just Indy minifig would be enough for me.

Name for the film released by the official page over on Facebook: "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny"

What next? Indiana jones and the Ringtone of Fate?

Quite enjoyed the trailer and with Mangold helming this, I’d be shocked if the film didn’t deliver. Can’t wait for the set reveals!

On the topic of the largest April set - if it is an Icons / Buildable Object, the only thing I can see it being is a Fertility Idol. I just can’t see a buildable whip / fedora appealing to anyone at all? Though of course, a system-scale playset would be much better :sweet:

Do you recall those abominable brick built figures from Harry Potter last year?Don't doubt for a second that TLG isn't willing to charge you 150$ for a brick built whip.

At $160 I could see it being multiple iconic props - Didn’t harry potter have a set like that? They could probably do the idol, the holy grail , one magic stone and a hat at that price

I really enjoyed the trailer. Derivative as it may sound, I think it really looks like what you’d hope for a modern Indiana Jones film to look like. I am very excited for it.

As for our $160 mystery set, I would personally be very surprised if it is anything but the Raiders opening scene. I think that is a sure-fire hit for the company. That said, I don’t dislike the idea of having a Hogwarts Icons-esque set with some MacGuffins; the fertility idol, the Holy Grail, and/or the Ark of the Covenant perhaps?

For a quite a while I was also thinking that it is a remake of 7623 but with lego you never know what to expect nowdays.I highly doubt we will ever see a brickbuilt macguffin only because the crazy amount of controversy that it will cause.

As much as I'd love a new Temple Escape, to me it really doesn't seem likely. The original was only 550 pieces, and, while a new version would undoubtedly have more detail, I don't really see how they could TRIPLE the piece count, especially since there isn't really an iconic exterior. Not to mention there's only a handful of characters in the opening sequence to include as minifigures.

Personally, I think the scene would work better as an 18+ diorama at around $100 (which is also the max cost I could see them pushing for a playset version), but that's just me.

As for our $160 mystery set, I see only 3 sequences that could really fill that cost: Castle Brunwald, the Temple of the Holy Grail, and the Akator Temple. (I'm excluding the Circus Train, as I imagine that if we're getting an Indy train this year it's more likely to be the Indy 5 train.)

I wouldn't mind Castle Brunwald or the Holy Grail Temple either; I honestly love The Last Crusade even more than Raiders. Having the Hovitos temple as such a large set is admittedly a bit of a headscratcher to me but I also just think it'd be incredibly weird for Lego to not represent that scene at all in this wave. It's also far more iconic than those other locations which is why I think it's the most likely, well besides more buildable objects that would have zero interest for me. If it were to be an Icons type set, I guess that would just save me $150 and be the one set from this relaunch that I pass on.

Posted

I would love a Castle Brunwald set but I have a hard time imagining it as a set. It's most recognisable location is the interior and it's mostly that room with the fire place that most people remember about it.If it ends up as a set I expect a basic exterior with the interior being focused on the fireplace room.

Posted

I could see Brunwald done as one of the quote/diorama sets like they've done in the Star Wars line. You could have the fireplace room with a spinning fireplace as a feature or something. (And they'd be many quotes to choose from).

I'd really like it if was the Grail Temple. But I'd be up for an Icon's set too.

Unlikely but… What if the reason they’re not including the biplane in the fighter plane attack set is so they can include it in a $160 big blimp set

Be still my heart! That sounds like an awesome idea, but it's unlikely as the tail end of the zeppelin (not a blimp, as a zeppelin has a steel skeleton whereas blimps do not) of it has a giant swastika on it in the film. Plus the plane is very TINY compared to the huge zeppelin, as shown when they do the famous "Fly yes, land no!" scene. You'd also almost need to include an actual cloth skin to have around the frame for it to look good, as the days of Adventurers set 5956 are long gone, and one - or two - piece assemblies that aren't going to be used but once and are that large just are feasible anymore for LEGO. (Sorry to let all the air out of your argument / zeppelin!)

All that aside, I'd buy one in a heartbeat, and can think of a few other Adventure-loving people who might too!

Yeah I figured lego’s steel skeleton budget isn’t super high these days so they’d have to make it a blimp

Yeah, you're probably right. LEGO hasn't made any steel skeletons since 2014, and even then they were actually just light bluish-gray.
