This is in 0 way me saying this will happen but a safe bet would be London toy fair (Jan 24th-26th) or Nuremberg toy fair (Feb 1st-5th)

LTF can be safely ruled out as we never get pics from there, unless you count the outside of the stand in 2012 that gave us a first look at the Fellowship (nice memories).

Nuremberg is a tiny bit more promising, but even then it’s not that safe of a bet. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t all of the official reveals since 2018 like the Great Hall and the Razor Crest take place exclusively at the NYTF? Too bad that one’s in September this year :sceptic:

Sure, they could always reveal the sets online during one of the fairs, but that’s kind of pointless since they may just as well reveal them on a random Tuesday, you don’t need a closed-doors event for that

I think Lego didn't even reveal their new summer sets in the last few year at toy fair, atleast not for taking pics, they did those events in May I think. Anyway, with LegoCon cancelled I hope Lego just reveals their sets at toy fair like they used to.

I was thinking of the April wave. There’s next to zero chance we get to see anything from 2HY, regardless of theme. You can thank those pesky bootleggers for that

To be honest, I’ve taken a continuation of the theme into 2024 for granted, which I now realise would completely break a trend that has been going on for the last ten years. Movie-licensed themes either disappear after the first year (Toy Story 4, Incredibles 2, Trolls, Minions, Angry Birds, Lightyear) or they become evergreen (Jurassic World). Post-movie waves (Cars 2, Indy 2009) aren’t a thing anymore :sadnew:

All I'm saying is that all of those were animated films geared towards younger audiences (and about half of them flopped pretty hard anyway). Indy is definately different. I still think that out of Indy, Avatar, and LOTR, at least one will become evergreeen. (I just hope it's not avatar.)

That’s awfully optimistic  LOTR technically isn’t even a theme, since it consists of BrickHeadz and an Icons set, if you look at the set number. So that one certainly won’t become evergreen.

The last licensed themes to do so were Harry Potter and Jurassic World, and I doubt either Indy or Avatar are able to compete with those two merchandise juggernauts :shrug_oh_well:

@Mandalorianknight Not sure about it being ‘evergreen’, but I think we can all agree Avatar sets will be gracing (no pun intended) toy shelves fairly regularly to coincide with the new sequel films when they release at least. Even if the theme itself takes breaks between new releases.

It’s a hard tie for me between wanting Indy or LotR to become evergreen themes though, both are amazing in their own right. I do think the benefit of Indiana Jones is that across all four films, there’s a defined number of set pieces and scenes that would translate well into sets. Realistically if we get two waves a year covering four sets at a time, you can get some good coverage of all four films within a few years. Unlike Star Wars / Harry Potter / LOTR, I can’t see this theme needing to reinvent itself every few years or having a major focus on things like army building.

April can’t come soon enough, planning to buy all of these.

Something we also need to keep in mind is that Lego could be persuaded to continue Indy and Lord of the Rings if the sets do really well. (Assuming they’re not planning to continue already.) Personally, I think Indy at least has the potential to get a wave each year for at least a couple years, like the Harry Potter return in 2018. There’s going to be new content keeping the Indy franchise alive, even if there aren’t going to be any more films. Lego could always tie-in with that stuff in addition to making more sets for the existing movies. Indiana Jones is a very different property to most of the other short-lived licenses mentioned here.

Sure, those themes might not be the best examples out there, but even popular themes like LotR/TH and PotC only got sets in the same year new movies were released.

Well, at least they have enough confidence in the theme to release classic sets in the first place, that's more than can be said for other themes *stares at 2015 Jurassic World output*

What if Sonic will be evergreen though?

Don't get me wrong I think it's totally likely sonic could become evergreen, but I think it's an expansion of the gaming theme as opposed to something they're pitting against other film themes.

Depends on how the sets themselves sell. The movie ended up doing great, but at least around me the sets haven't done well.

I don't about evergreen but I think the Indy theme could definitly last a long time depending on how well the sets sold. Even thought there are only 5 films LEGO could still get pretty creative. The Hovitos Temple for example, can work both as a playset and a diorama set.

They could even do something like Henry's Grail diary in the style of the "Hogwarts moments" series where you open it up to reveal the Grail Temple or something.

My hope for Indy is that it doesn’t become evergreen but it stays around for a couple more years after this initial wave, that we can get most of the key scenes and vehicles made available.

@Atrius Kain Going by the trailer alone and Hasbro’s Worlds of Adventure toys, I can see most of your predictions coming true.

The Greek Tomb absolutely needs to be a set and I can’t see it struggling to hold a presence with the Well of Souls / Temple of Doom sets as they’ll all look quite different I’m sure. Plus, concept art for the tomb was shown at D23 last year, so it’s not a stretch to assume Lego would have received it too prior to commencing their design work.

Voller’s plane is another likely one, and no Indy lineup is complete without a ‘chase’ set, so perhaps something with motorcycles and tuk-tuks? The train from the flashback sequence could also look pretty good.

So, what do you expect the 4 Dial of Destiny sets to be? Things we saw in the trailer or something more spoiler ish? Perhaps we get another wave in 2024 with more spoiler sets. I expect the plane we saw Hasbro make toys of, a greek tomb though would they really do it? We already get the egypt tomb. Perhaps the Nazi castle with young Indy? A submarine set, so many possibilities.

Personally I don't see us getting another plane in this years wave as TLC set is going to have a plane included.  I can see this lasting two years at least.  We are getting a large Submarine in the City sets this year so it may be chance for Lego to cash in on using the design for that.

I think the plane is a definite yes. There's already another toy of it and it pops up a few times during the trailer.

I don't know about the castle but the train we see in the opening sequence could be a set. Maybe accompanied with some motorbikes/cars.

I think we'll also see something from the New York parade as well.

I have just seen a post on Instagram saying that 77015 Is The Temple Escape Diorama but it is in fact from KOTCS and comes with four minifigures.  Has anyone else seen this or can confirm if this is true?

Where? Can't find it on legoleaks. What is the user name?

It's shown up on a couple of mine now and it's right at the top of my page.  The username I am looking at is legen.dleaks.

Yeah, obviously fake. It's from an account with literally a single post.

Well I didn't know that did I.

And yet, some of your typical repost accounts report this BS without a second thought :laugh_hard: They never learn, will they?

What do you mean?

There are accounts on IG that only repost stuff from leakers. I don’t mind them, live and let live, but they often fall for fake leaks because they don’t look into these “sources”. They just repost whatever they find. This can then snowball into more and more people believing these bogus “rumours” :snicker:

True, I'd seen 2 or 3 posts on it so that's obviously what had happened, first time I've ever fallen for a fake.

WOW, so this movie is STILL going through major reshoots, with major changes to the core story arcs.  Apparently, they shot four or five possible endings, and the test audiences "disliked" them all...  The current rumor is that the CEO of Disney is threatening to just cancel the whole movie completely, the same way that DC just totally cancelled "Batgirl" last year!  If they did, they would just take part of it as a tax write-off, and deduct most of the rest from the directors "golden parachute" payout later on, as per the contract, so perhaps they mean business.  This is all straight from the rumor mill, so make of it what you will...  Personally, I kind of believe it!

Plus, that would explain why Lego is keeping everything under such super strict secrecy!  I don't think they're going to voluntarily reveal anything until June.  But there could be leaks...

@The Real Indiana Jones: This pathetic garbage "rumour" has been debunked weeks ago by James Mangold himself :laugh_hard: Don't believe any old crap you read online

...Hmmm, "debunked"? or just "fervently denied"?  Remember, James Mangold has a vested financial interest in denying it all!

Obviously he is going to say "hey, guys, everything is fine!  This is fine!"  [cue dog meme]  =D

[edit: OK, it might be the film director's golden parachute payout, or the head of LucasFilm's golden parachute payout, or both!]
