Sorry about the use of lingo!  The abbreviation is very common in law (my industry), but shows up in entertainment forums too, and I defaulted to it.

Also, I think Indiana Jones is probably less popular or unknown among today's youth than it was in the past.

In the last decade characters like Lara Croft from Tomb Raider or Nathan Drake from Uncharted were probably better known.

Maybe that's also the reason why the Indiana Jones fan community is really looking forward to the releases, but the topic isn't that popular in society as a whole and LEGO isn't making too much hype about it.

What's interesting is that I actually feel as though the same was the case in 2008/09.  I was a young kid at the time, and I still distinctly remember getting the catalog in the mail with the Temple Escape set featured on the front.  I had never heard of Indiana Jones at all, but the sets looked so cool to me.  Interestingly, that was actually what prompted me to ask my parents about the movies, and eventually to rent Raiders on DVD to watch.  So, without the LEGO sets, I never would've become a fan of the franchise (and to this day, they're still some of my favorite movies of all time).

Anyway, point being, I feel like the thing that LEGO has going for it moreso than Funko Pops or Hasbro merchandise is that LEGO's appeal is going to be a bit broader, especially to kids who don't know what the movies are.  I'm not sure if a kid that doesn't know anything about Indy would be inclined to buy a Funko or an action figure of Indiana Jones, but there's a chance that kid might see the LEGO set and be interested.

Hopefully that means we're getting some Indy 5 sets, but who knows?

No problem, that's a common abbreviation. In German, only the abbreviation is different, because the German words have different initial letters than in English, so I didn't recognize them immediately :-)

Unfortunately the LEGO Indiana Jones time was in my Dark Ages. So I had to buy the series very expensive a few years ago.

But when I read your post, I just felt a bit reminded of the beautiful moment when I built these sets, even as an adult I immediately felt like a child again.

That's why I think it's such a pity that not much has been announced so far, I hope that everything will turn out well in the coming hours and days.

A dream would also be a big Indiana Jones UCS set in the fall or next year, like now with Lord of the Rings.

Yes, Skull resulted in a big resurgence of Indy merchandise. I remember getting the films and the truck chase for my birthday. I hope Indy 5 will do the same thing and introduce the franchise to a whole new generation of kids.

The other thing as well is that Indy is not Marvel or Star Wars. It doesn't get loads of action figures, books and sets every year. Whilst the franchise may continue in some form (TV series/spin offs), this might be all we get.

Pretty weird that they’ve started to reveal sets scheduled for May already, while Indy is still nowhere to be seen :look:

Too bad they apparently noticed that we were using the instruction portal to scout for upcoming reveals. The last few reveals weren’t preceded by those updates anymore, and I don’t expect Indy to be any different

Pure speculation, but if the sets don't show up today (in the next 2 hours or so), then there must be something wrong with this theme.

The Super Star Destroyer being revealed a few hours ago really made me worry about the Indy theme.

To be fair, the two Disney 100 sets scheduled for April also haven’t been added to s@h yet

I’m not worried too much about the three confirmed sets as they’re still listed in lots of places. And then there’s the leaked minifig.

Not so sure about the release date anymore though. I know the rumours always said April 1st, but maybe it’s actually April 27th like the JWD and TLaT sets last year, despite the Indy sets not being based on an upcoming movie. The Smyths Toys ad just said “April”, after all :shrug_oh_well:

Here someone drew a graphic from the leaked image of the Indiana Jones minifigure (minus the cobwebs)

I find it both disturbing and annoying that nothing has been announced yet, simply because of the constant fear, even panic fear at times, that it will come later or not at all.

You would think for a theme like Indiana Jones probably the most requested theme that the reveal would be a big deal yet nothing……….

Thinking more and more that Indiana Jones is dead before it even began.

Nah, at least those three sets are coming. No idea when, but at least we know they exist

The first leak from 10316 was on 02/02/2023
The news channels announced the official announcement from LEGO for the set on 02/06/2023
The official presentation took place on 02/07/2023

So I still have some hope that something will come in the next few days, but I also have serious doubts about it.
If the teaser hadn't been in the SmythsToys catalogue inlay, I honestly wouldn't have had any hope at this point

The Disney 100 sets are on s@h now, meaning Indy is the only theme scheduled for April that’s still missing (unless I‘m overlooking something).

No need to panic to though, they reveal sets on random days too, not just on the first of the month :classic:

But not D2C sets like these are usually revealed on the first the month, no? They even revealed the new Speed Champions on January 1st at midnight.

Avatar sets were revealed on July 20th but that was months before release.

Not always. Last year‘s Brick Sketches were revealed on March 2nd, and the Harry Potter 2HY sets on April 8th. There are always exceptions!

The most requested theme? Really for me I'd would have been LotR and I think I'm not alone there but I guess since it's back ( as part of icons though, with no smaller minifig system sets) it doesn't count?

I know it wouldn't be amongst everyone but now we've got LotR (sort of) Doctor Who would be most wanted new licensed theme.

Most requested though? You think after LotR it'd be Indonesia Jones? I dunno, I suppose it could be. Is there any actual survey or anything though, I'm not kidding I'm genuinely interested in that sort of data if it exists.

If nothing had leaked then you'd have just had a nice surprise when (/if? ) the official reveal came.

Among the group of previously retired themes, I‘m sure Indy‘s up there with LOTR. Requested in general? Pretty hard to tell. Since TLG have now tackled pretty much every major franchise under the sun that fit the brand, it’s hard to think of ones they haven’t covered yet and are big enough for people to request sets  Outside of Ideas, that is.

Also, props to your autocorrect software, good one :laugh_hard:

You could be right. If the inlay hadn't existed in the SmythsToys catalogue, I might have been surprised at the end because I wasn't expecting this teaser and therefore wasn't looking for it. I only read it online and then got the catalogue.
However, I would have kept my eyes and ears open from March and April, hoping to see an announcement as it would have been expected at that time.

Actually, after the details of the sets in July 2022, I would have expected that a few days or weeks later the first official pictures would be shown and the series would be announced for April, May or June. I was surprised that no further information became known after that. When I saw the teaser in the catalogue, I was really happy, finally something is happening. And I figured if there's a teaser out now, it won't be long before the official announcement.
After that, however, total silence and nothing more than a few leaks of which you don't know exactly how old the pictures are and a few rumors of a set cancellation.
All just very strange.

I agree that Indiana Jones isn't the most important series on the market, and I asked a few posts earlier whether that might be the reason why LEGO wasn't hyping it up too much. Since Star Wars and especially Lord of the Rings is much more popular.

A slightly higher quality picture of the temple of doom was posted on Reddit 3 days ago (but sure it was cancelled months ago)

Nah, it‘s the same picture, just smoothed over using AI. You can clearly see artefacts when you zoom in

I think you mean these:

EDIT: links by recommendation, based on forum guidelines, removed

Looks like interpolation and smoothing, yes

That the ToD set was canceled is also not confirmed.

I suggest to remove these links as we‘re not allowed to post leaked images or links leading to them

Even if the set is dead and burried, this still counts as a leak

I removed them, thanks for the hint.
And of course, I sincerely apologize
