It's almost sad that SmythsToys advertises LEGO Indiana Jones more than LEGO itself

I think I’m allowed to be upset when something I was looking forward to for so long was cancelled a couple of weeks ahead of its release, and for no apparent reason  And then there’s the botched handling of the theme as a whole.

I’ve come to accept it in the meantime though. Nothing can be done about this, so I’ve moved on.

PS.: The Indiana Jones category has already moved up from Retired Themes to "Current" themes in the LEGO Building App and the three sets are flagged "Coming Soon", so something is happening.

The sets are released tomorrow, so of course they’re updating the app  Not sure what you’re expecting here

I agree that it's highly unlikely that a shop has a copy of the set. But I buy that some retailers have been told there's an error in it somewhere and it's been pulled. What we don't know is whether they're going to fix it. If there is no second wave, releasing a standalone set might not be worth it for them, when you consider how retailers will take themes more than one-offs.

Because it makes sense to expect more than just 3 sets? Like why would they bring back this theme and not use the hype around the new movie to sell more sets... besides no one takes anything as confirmation here, we are just hopeful for more which is understandable.

Got 77012 Fighter Plane Chase and 77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb ordered from the LEGO Shop website. I'm holding back on ordering 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol until there is a Double VIP Points promo.

The availability of those sets is pretty rough in Poland...

The sets are available only through Shop@Home and a single retailer, which for some reason doesn't have the Fighter Plane Chase — although the other two sets are at a discount, but weirdly enough it's much lower than all the sets from other themes (usually it's ~20%, for those it's only ~12%).

And of course, scalpels are already selling them for twice as much

On my way to the LEGO Store, hope they still have some copies by the time I get there. First time I‘m buying sets there on launch day  If they don‘t, back to ordering online exclusively as I‘ve generally done for the last 20 years 

And the first person to think it‘s funny to make an Indy prank today will have their face melted.

So, less than 12 hours after release, S@H has the two smaller sets (fighter plane and Egyptian tomb) on back order until…

….26 JUNE!!!

WTF? However you explain it, that’s a massive ball dropped by TLG. Either marketing/production got their figures ridiculously wrong or the scalpers were allowed carte blanche to buy for resale.

Do back order dates ever come down?

I keep deliberating on the Lost Tomb set. Will definitely be purchasing the other two, but my interest in this one keeps fluctuating!

Might go for it…the U.K. price is absurdly good as it is anyway

@Lucarex From previous observations, backorder dates seldom actually that long for stock levels to meet demand, it’s just Lego giving a worst case scenario. Realistically, stock should return within a few weeks to a month.

Picked up the Golden Idol Temple and the Lost Tomb this morning and they really don't seem to be pushing these, even in LEGO stores. Stock seemed low and shelf space was relegated to a corner of one of those small island shelves in the middle. 

Add in the fact that the line is Smyths exclusive in the UK (and other regions having a similar situation) and it's pretty clear the confidence isn't high in these sets performing well (though what actually happens remains to be seen if they are selling out quickly). 

This still remains a botched launch in my opinion, even discounting the Temple of Doom situation, and one of the strangest moves I've seen with a high-profile LEGO theme. Such a disappointing blemish on a revival to a theme that I'm highly nostalgic for

Lost Tomb is already sold out on lego.com, and it doesn't even appear on the target website. Bummer for me, (especially since I was planning on getting it with a target gift card), but good news that it's sold out so fast?

A Rebrickable user named "marinbrickdesign" has already recolored / modified the white car from Fighter Plan Chase, with instructions for three versions for sale on the site. He's got white (modified with thinner tires), dark red, and tan.

The tan one really reminds me of a certain other Adventuresome fellow LEGO has made...

Thanks, I thought that might be the case but it’s still a messed up release wave IMO (on more than one level).

Can’t be bothered waiting for S@H to get their act together and picked up the other 2 sets at Smyths instead.

Does anyone have a link to the Target listings?  For whatever reason, I can’t find any of them, want to see if any stores near me have them for pickup at all.

I can't find any retailers in the US that have any of them listed on their websites at the present time.  This release is a total cluster.  I could have ordered shortly after midnight EDT from Lego.com once the sets finally showed up but I wanted to see if anyone else was going to have them.  Now only the Temple is available on backorder.  I wonder if other retailers won't be getting them until June.

And now all 3 sets are out of stock.
