I can't imagine they will change the design at this late stage ... plus, why would they?! These sets are based on a cartoon where the characters, I assume, look like they are depicted here. The sets are tied into that series ... in fact, were it not for these series, we quite possibly wouldn't know what any of these characters look like!

As for alienating parts of the AFOL community ... that may well be true, but, newsflash, Lego is a kids toy ... the vast majority of sales are to kids. If these sets are popular with kids, which I'm pretty sure they will be, then the fact that a few AFOLs don't like them won't make any difference!

At the end of the day, no-one can please everyone, all the time. If you don't like the sets, don't buy them. If you like the sets, but don't like the figures ... sell the figs but keep the ships.

I understand that LEGO sets are for kids, but at the same time, how many kids do you think really would prefer the anime look? I doubt kids care and the rest of us probably prefer the classic movie style of the black dots for eyes.

And for the record, I am and have always been pro-flesh. I thought it looked right from the start. But the anime look just doesn't do it for me.

Sorry to be the bearer of reality, but kids don't like them. They've said on the lego site that they look "weird and stupid". ;-) I agree with the kids, they do look stupid. They're supposed to look more like the cartoon right? Do the proper figs look anything like the films?

Erm, zoom in on the last pic and there is yellow on the pilot's helmet. You misread XWY; he was saying Why is there a pilot in the V-19 but none in the RGS? ;-) Correct me if I'm wrong, Master *yoda* !

Oh, there is yellow! I missed that! Thanks for telling me. The fin's still there, though, so it's more like a Phase 1 commander. Still, different-colored clonies are nice.

Okay 2 things

1) I do like the minifigs except for Obi-Wan and the Magna Droids, but give them a chance these are only prelimary not actual they are subject to change -thanks xwingyoda. They made new clones and new Jedi it will expand their area of market.

2)Hasn't anybody noticed that the new helmets don't have the holes in them so it shows the black head but a black screen is covering it

I rewatched the CW vol 1 yesterday night and here are some thoughts:

* Pilots do have that yellow markings on their helmets !! All the pilots of V-19 and RGS havre it ;-)

So one grip could be, who the hell pilots that RGS ?? (I think we need a smaller set with that clone ;-) )

* We sure do need BPs: one thing for sure is that we need and ARC trooper BP preferably like the pic I posted several pages before: 2 whities, a blue and a red !!

One question could arise at this point though: when ?? TLC never produced more than the 2 january BPs so far (2007 & 2008). Will they expand on that and give us a mid year BP ? If they did that it would work big time !! Why do I say that ? Because I really want the january 2009 BPs to be Endor oriented (scouties BP and Endor Troopers BP)

* There are a lot of sets that TLC can give us from he CW: the expanding possibilities are huge there !! IMO, these 4 sets are just a taste of things to come ;-)

EDIT: I just watched vol2 and yes there are definitly some sweet sets I would love such as:

* Mace's purple JSF

* Saesee Tiin's gren JSF (yeay I love those ep3 JSFs ;-) ) witha 2 head choice: with and without the helmet !!

* Off course the special ops sharkhead RGS

* couple of other jedi such as Ayyla, Luminara, Shaak and that Ithorien

* Palpatine MF

* Durge (or whats left of him X-D )

* AAT ! Would be a cool idea to redesign one and market it as CW ;-) After all, some AAT invade Coruscant to divert jedi from GG's primary main objective: capture Palpie !!

Also its just in between the 2 vol that the clones change their armour: in vol 2 the helmets are way more ep3 looking (they got rid of the "fin" on top and the "moustache" is rounder...)

So that CW vol 3 happens in betwen 2 and 3 right ? vol1 armour style and can't be after 2 since it ties perfectly with ROTS

Yoda, I don't think that the new CW series is Directly related to the old series, because for one the name is different the old series was called Star Wars Clone Wars and the new series is entitled Star Wars:The Clone Wars and it has a totally different Logo too, oh and if it was a continuation of the old series, which was/is flippin sweet *sweet* , I would think they would advertise it at as SWCW Vol. 3 not SW:TCW. ;-)

But that doesn't mean that I'm opposed to any sets from the old series, in fact all the ideas you listed are awesome!

Why does everyone seem to overlook the fact that the so called Pilot in the V19 has a bloody fin! As I recall Pilots do NOT have fins, so unless he is finless in the final version he is just a clone commander!

To me CW BP's aren't a matter of if they are a matter of when. :-)

On a side note maybe we will get 2 ARC pilots or regular pilots to pilot the RGS, gee did

Is it just me or are the New Magna Guards looking a bit too real? :-/ TLC did such a fantastic job in replicating the movie versions that they are almost un-lego. They look simply amazing! X-O

However I was expecting them to look like they did in the LSW video games.

Now they make Grievous look terrible, we need a new General Grievous to go along with his guards!

This is wonderful news. I can't wait for them to come out they look amazing. 1. issue I do have though is that it only has one clone in the gunship and At-te. I want more clones. The jedi look awsome. I've already saved enough money to buy all these sets.

Remeber these are still preliminaries. Can't wait to see the pics for the tank, hope their out soon.

Anyway, on to the sets. I don't mind the new minifigs, I love Plo koon. I like a lot of the stuff in the RGS, I hate how it would probably cost 180AUD but, eh, I'll probably get it as a late birthday pressie.

Like the new guns, don't really like asajj ventress, but the lightsabers are well done.

I think the gaurds Piranah showed would of been better to use because it looks more lego-y :-/ but i dont mind these other ones, i don't really know what you guys are talking about and i bet ya it will grow on every one like some other sets and figs have ;-)

Yeah, I prefer the new ones, even if they do look a little un-lego ish, they look a fair bit more like magnaguards than the LSW ones. I must say, though, Kaminoan did a good job with his recreation there.

I don't really like the cartoonishness, but seeing as that is what they are based on, it is understandable (shame they won't fit in with everything else, but, eh, peachies anyone?). Though obi-wan looks stupid. I like plo koon, and ahsoka is ok as well.the new clones are nice, too, although (and I am ashamed to say this) I don't know much about Commander Cody.

No, no, no, >:-( I don't like those magnas from the video game at all! I think they look stupid - Even though they may look more Lego typical, I don't care; I *wub* the new ones! I rather have them looking real, and, hey, with this design they have Exo Force arms which means they will be able to twirl their lightstaffs! *wub* And you gotta love their battle damaged capes! Also, those hoping for a new Grievous fig might just be right! *sweet* I can't imagine how exactly one could improve him, but TLC will think of something - and that would be awesome! :'-)

As for the other figs: I love 'em! X-D Especially Oky, I mean, Obi Wan! :-P I have to say at this point that I am an absolute cartoon nut - I love anything animated and one of the reasons why ROTS is my favorite SW movie is because its mostly computer animated! I am majoring in Media Arts & Animation @ the Art Institute right now and am hoping to be part of the next generation of star wars cartoon makers soon!

Therefore, it is needless to say that I love the clone wars cartoons and that there is nothing greater in the world for me than SW Legos that are based on them with cartoony minifigs! :'-)

So, I am counting the days until I can finally hold these in my greedy little cartoonist hands and hope that it wont be much longer - I'M ALREADY GOING CRAZY!!! *wacko* X-D

Also C3PO doesn't seem to have his gold plating (that he gets in CWvol2).

The last series of the first cartoon ties directly in with the start of ep 3, so they're connected right there. Lucas has stated that the new cartoon will fill in the time between ep 2-3, so again they will all connect.

As for General Grevious i can't stress how much i hate the lego version :-X It's crap IMO and looks nothing like it should, i would love a better version....though i doubt we will ever have one.

As Lucas stated himself, the old SW:CW show was merely a "pilot series" to this new one. The Clone Wars, which will have a tone similar to A New Hope, is set during the same three-year time period the first show was set in. It was created in an anthology format, with each episode being stand-alone. So, I think the episodes will occur between the episodes of SW:CW. For now, we only know The Clone Wars to be set during Vol.1 of SW:CW for sure (with the clones wearing Phase 1 armor, 3PO being silver, and Ventress being alive and all), but there are also signs that it will have episodes occuring during Vol.2. For example, Obi Wan & Anakin have their Ep 3 haircuts and Ahsoka is supposed to be Anakin's apprentice, a fact that proves that anakin is a jedi knight which he becomes during Vol.2. Don't ask me, though, why Ahsoka is featured in a set with Ep2 clones! *wacko*

Well like I said earlier, GG will look puny (actually real crappy and worse) next to the badass magna guards X-D I really hope to have a major redesign of him which I think will happen since he will be a major characters of the CW3 (here is another point I forgot to make earlier - GG's voice is normal, he wasn't crushed by Mace so it will definitly be before Palpie's rapt)
