PJSKittles Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 one nifty thing about working for lego retail, is the ability to see the cost of each set, compared to the cost to actually produce it. Lego inflates the price about 5-8 times the building cost. The falcon cost about $40 to produce(i can double check on that tomorrow), the new f1 ferrari cost $17 and so on.
Matteo Kenobi Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Wow just looking at these glad to see there are some things being leaked, because i'm not the patient type =] I'm actually pretty excited about the shuttle, with the great minifigs it comes with, however the AAT and battle packs are exciting as well. Can't wait to see any new updates =]
Oky Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 It could be a Sith, for all we really know. Unless you can prove any of us otherwise, I advise you don't scold others for simply speculating.-Chuck- I just did: There are no other Sith than Palpatine and Dooku during the Clone Wars! (Click the link for the proof.) So unless it's one of them (which I highly doubt since the mysterious AAT driver has been said to be alien), it is not a Sith. I'm not saying, though, that it couldn't be someone like Assajj Ventress who is force-sensetive and/or wielding a lightsaber. I hope you understand now. What's the matter with you anyway? I don't intend to "scold" anybody or do any "mini-mod BS"; I'm just trying to participate in a discussion. So please stop accusing me of such things. As for everyone else: I am very sorry if anybody felt wrongly "scolded". I haven't been in the US for too long, and I still have some trouble with the language, so please forgive me for any misunderstandings. Now let us please get back on-topic! Thanks.

I find this very hard to believe. You working for LEGO retail and posting something like this on a fan site. You better have proof of this or I'll call your bluff and then I'll be kinda upset.
KimT Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Edit by Hinckley: If you guys want to discuss the Clone Wars, please do so in one of the community forums. (I've found an appropriate thread right here) This thread is for discussion of the 2008 LEGO Clone Wars products. Let's keep the topic focused on that and not have side conversations for pages, please. Thank you. Ahem! Most of you already post there and this has been mentioned in the 2008 picture thread. Stay on topic and discuss the movie the appropriate place. Now until someone gets info on what sith is in the AAT, perhaps we should let that discussion rest? Now get back on topic or do I have to call in the bounty hunters? "No Disintegration!"
Skipper 24 Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I actually think PJSkittles could be right. Plastic is a relatively cheap material to produce for large companies I believe but when you add on all the shipping and handling it turns out a lot more. (I am probably completely wrong and I don't have and proof.)

In this case in the discussion on pricing in the Embassy Forum. Now let's get back to discussion the 2008 sets to still to come

Im leaving Lego on sunday (due to me leaving for different college) But yea, my manager is going to a meeting in a couple weeks, they might be showing off the late 08-early 09 lego sets (including star wars) so when he comes back ill give him a call and find out whats going on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v257/sni...77/DSC01553.jpg proof i work there.
TheBrickHitHouse Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Simple.Licensed versus non-licensed. With the Taj-Mahal TLG makes ALL the money. With licensed like SW they DON'T. I hope that satisfies your question. No, you know full well that doesnt explain that level of difference Once again £274 for 3000 bricks £199 for 6000 I could well believe the price difference if the number of bricks was the same Lucasfilm are only going to have a cut to a max of 30%

In this case in the discussion on pricing in the Embassy Forum. Now let's get back to discussion the 2008 sets to still to come Now why do you insist on having me quote myself? Please feel free to continue this in the embassy. Actually I suggest starting a topic on this here, as I am sure a lot of members would gladly discuss and talk about it. TLC is in this business for money. I think we all know that. I don't work for free...well, except as a Moderator on Eurobricks. Let's just discuss the sets, this price discussion hasn't really got anything to do with LEGO Star Wars. Also the price for manufacturing different colours are very different. That's why the chrome light sabre hilt was replaced by the grey version.
Derek Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I'm sorry KimT, I was just trying to clarify some of the confusion regarding the Sith issue, I didn't mean to detract from the talk of the new line up. But back on topic, I got the Spider Droid today, and must say, I can't wait if there is going to be a new Clone BP, because the Phase 1 clones are freaking sweet! The little gear pack/polybag thing is just great, and I love how they included extra parts so you could customize your clones. I'm surprised they didn'y come up with that idea earlier, with the Epi. III ones. I really hope '09 brings more of the Phase 1 clones, as I think TLC struck gold with them. darthperson

In the Comic Con thread someone implied that the new BP might be the same as the one put into the Comic Con Exclusive. If so, then it'll surely become a best seller. [and don't be sorry - I am not mad, just trying to gently push you guys back on topic ]
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) I hope the new pack is containing some bricks that we can use better than motorblocks or 1x2 plates with sticks on the sides. My favourite building would be the new Speederbike in brown or the mentioned Republic colors. P.S. Who started this stupid Sith in AAT thing, anyway? Edited August 10, 2008 by Navy Trooper Fenson
Skipper 24 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I think it will be a speeder bike that has grey, light green and red. It would go with the already released fighter tank pretty well.
Lego12 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 The BP will probably have the same speederbike as the one in the Republic Gunship. I will buy multiples for my Gunship and AT-TE. I just hope they come with commanders!

Idk. I would love to get 4 regular clones with each BP I get but I wouldn't know what to do with multiple copies of Commander Rex. IMO, it would be better if they would include a Rex fig without those hook-like markings on top of his helmet, so that it looks like a regular ARC gunner - that would be awesome! - or if they would at least just include a regular clone with commander gear (like in the Fighter Tank) instead, so that we can choose if we want him to be a commander/Arc-trooper or not. Also, I want a clone pilot in the new BP! I hope the new pack is containing some bricks that we can use better than motorblocks or 1x2 plates with sticks on the sides. My favourite building would be the new Speederbike in brown or the mentioned Republic colors. Seconded even though I don't think that a speederbike counts as a "building". I'm really hoping for some lime green pieces - it's my favorite color! And I don't really care what kind of speeder bike it is (they're all awesome), but the one from the RGS does look pretty good and accurate. But wasn't the rumor that it's a Rebel BP-type speeder? P.S. Who started this stupid Sith in AAT thing, anyway? It all started here and then got intense half-way through page 7. But let's not blame anyone and move on, shall we. I just hope they come with commanders! That would be great. A BP with a useful addition. I hope you're right in assuming that. It would certainly raise the quality of the BPs. So far we've not gotten anything useful alongside the minifigs (my personal opinion). Idk. I would love to get 4 regular clones with each BP I get but I wouldn't know what to do with multiple copies of Commander Rex. I think we might be getting a few different clones. Just like the former BP. A mix of clone pilots, regular clones and a commander of some sort. I'd love to get more pilots - I like the yellow stripe on the helmet.
Oky Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Thats Captain REX to you! Whoops, sorry about that. Anyway, clone pilots ON (even though they shouldn't have fins )
The Rancor Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) We can assume the clone battlepack will come with no more than 4 minifigures - - 2 ordinary troopers - One commander or captain (maybe ordinary clone in commander gear) - One PILOT The droid battlepack would probably also come with - - 3 battle droids - 2 super battle droids - 2 special droids (may be magnaguards!) - Destroyer droid Sounds like the AAT comes with- - >2 battle droids - A new Separatist/Sith minifigure - A destroyer droid I really hope that when Lego turn their attention to the Original trilogy, the sets will be mainly Endor based, just to start. (This at least would save confusion between battles (the earliest 2008 sets were from episode 2, 3, Force Unleashed and 4) I would much rather have Lego concentrate on one area/period like the Clone Wars range when selling Original trilogy sets) Edited August 10, 2008 by The Rancor
commanderbly42 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 - A new Separatist/Sith minifigure As others have said, I think that it is safe to assume that this is General Whorm Loathsome but I may be wrong (as I so often am) .
Faramir Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 (edited) I also have a feeling that the new BP will be the one from the Comic Con exclusive. We know that it was made up of two separately released sets, so why not a third? I doubt they'd do this, but I wish that they would do something like the old Bionicle masks with CW figs. What if, instead of giving us Captain REX each time, they gave us a random Clone Commander? That would be pretty sweet Edited August 11, 2008 by Faramir

But I think there would have to be more different commanders for this to work. We only have three, and one of them is a captain. Edited August 11, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi
PJSKittles Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 falcon cost $110 to make average inflation is 500% on lego sets.
KimT Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 falcon cost $110 to makeaverage inflation is 500% on lego sets. Whatever . This is the last time I ask: Take this discussion on manufacturing cost somewhere else. Lego News & General would suit you fine for this. As I mentioned in the above post. Which You app. didn't read or chose to ignore.
