so the five sets that are coming out in january are: Droid Battle Pack, Clone Battle Pack, AAT, Tri-Droid and Assault Shuttle. Those were the five I picked like 3 weeks ago but i didnt call the battle packs battle packs. Nice!Id get all these sets and judging on previous january star wars lines, they will be alot cheaper than the most recent sets.

So the information of the TIE Bomber and the TIE Fighter (as written on Jedinews) is false, isn't it?

Dunno. But that does sound interesting.

Two Ties :thumbup::thumbup:

I'll quickly add that to the 1st post for future rumour reference

Even though all the Clone Wars sets sound great and I hope that they're all real, I hope that Lego does come out with the two TIEs. I'm an OT fan too, and I don't want TLC to lose its Star Wars roots in all the of the new movie hype.

I agree, but I would rather see OT sets other than more TIEs. Like some more Endor and Hoth sets. But I do think TLG will do Clone wars for most of 09 an some of 2010. I dont mind either way, as long as they're good, I'll buy 'em.

About the battle packs, what I could see LEGO doing is maybe putting in two or three normal phase 1 clones, and then something like a sergeant, with the olive green colors. So that way we would have tons of "specific" clones, just some sergeants, or maybe any rank, just no specific clone.

Since during the time of the Phase 1 clones, there weren't any real types of clones, just a few ranks, unlike phase 2, then there aren't many posibillities as to what else could be in it, except a pilot, which would be great. But then again, LEGO isn't exactly known for making its clone movie accurate

The thing i don't like about this new droid battle pack is the Manga guards, sure two are nice in the fighter but putting them in a droid battle pack isn't that somewhat...excessive. They really don't fit in with the majority of all our armies, and that's what battle packs do BUILD OUR ARMYS! Anyone agree or disagree with this? I would rather have 2 droideka's ad 4 regular droids then throwing Manga guards into the mix.

no i never said that the ties weren't true but i highly predict that there will only be 1 tie.

Couple of things:

  • First of all: It's Magna Guards!
  • Second: You're kind of right: two of them might be a little too much since I (like many others) will get multiples of this BP, and I don't think that we will need more than two guards. :sceptic: Besides, in Battlefront II, they had the same rank as a commander, and why would we need a whole bunch of commanders?
  • On the other hand, this will be the only affordable set these come in, while you can get normal droids from any other seperatist set. Therefore, it would probably be a good thing that there are more than one in there.
  • This would still serve the purpose of army building - only that it is an army of Magnas.
  • There are enough normal BDs in there, considering that you get some in pretty much every other set, especially the MTT. :sadnew:
  • I don't like the new droideka design too much, so I would rather have a second one of those sweet Magna Guards than another destroyer. Besides, in Battlefront, Droidekas are more rare than Magna Guards too.
  • A BP with two Magna Guards is still better than one with none. :sadnew: So, I wouldn't complain.

I have found this sight on this site http://www.intertoys.nl/epages/intertoys.s...go/Show/Submerk just this brings me face is not known.

Who can help me figure out what set this face to come

LOL. That's Obi Wan's head from the Episode III sets. I didn't know he was a Nazi! Currently, you can only get it in 7661 Jedi Starfighter™ with Hyperdrive Booster Ring.

Well, at first I thought maybe this was perhaps alluding to future German Soldiers with that head and hair but if you look at the rest of the promo pics they are kinda messed up.

For example, there's a Skeleton head on R2's dome, and the Knight representing the Castle lineup has a Skellie shield.

Thanks anyway for the ten seconds of heart stopping excitement, legomilk.

We are not 100% sure what is coming in any of the future sets, and Magna Guards wouldn't be to bad, if you don't like them, sell em on ebay.

Considering the number of IG-100s that were fielded in the Clone Wars, I think having one or two in the droid battle pack wouldn't be that crazy.

1. Ahh Magna, thats better, i new Manga sounded a little weird =p

Well i guess i see your point, i can certainly live with them  I just thought it might be a little bit wasted space, but i guess its fine. The fact that Droidekas are more rare in BF is a valid point, but still if you look in the movies there much more common (i don't know about EU, EU is just to much for me to keep up with  ) Well i guess having a few won't be awful, and as always, as justin said, i can sell them on ebay and probobly turn a bit of a profit =]

Uh why do you use battlefront as your only reference? You do know that Battlefront is considered Non-canon and that the Magna Guards don't even have the right weapons in the game?

Perhaps there's a few Ties in the Clone Wars?

We could be facing a brand new design, pre-Empire Tie fighters and bombers.

I can't wait to see what the new sets will be and what they'll look like

I actually doubt that there will be Magna Guards in the BP. It seems to me (and Lego probably knows it) that pretty much one of the main reasons for buying the Magna Guard Starfighter is for... well, the Magna Guards. I think that putting them in the BP wouldn't really help them much.

PS. We could stop this whole Magna/Manga simply by making it so that a red line appears underneath manga only, not both.

Sine our discussions here are beginning to concern themselves with the 2009 line, I've decided to "unpin" this thread and let it slip. Please continue discussions on the upcoming sets in the "Late 2008 / 2009 Picture and rumour topic"

I've updated the 1st post to contain a few more pics of the minis and the Brickmaster CTT (has that been released yet?)

And please no more Magna Guards. I've got more than plenty in my Magna Guard.

Clone Troopers  and that's it.

I disagree on the Magna Guards. You can never have too many of them, IMO. I would rather have them than a bunch of Super Battle Droids. Otherwise this battle pack will just end up being a repackaged Droid Battle Pack 1.0 with a new speeder/STAP/etc. What they could do is forego the whole droid bp all together and give us two different clone battle packs. One can have a speeder bike, the other can have some sort of troop transport. We might disagree on how many Magna Guard we need, but we both can agree that there is no such thing as too many clones :P

I personally don't want Magna guards simply because I'd rather have SBDs. I just don't think of magna guards as something that would be in a battle pack. Since LEGO is encouraging us to buy multiples of BPs, and I don't think you will ever see more than four magna guards at a time in the new series, it just doesn't make sense.

You know, I agree with that, there simply not in armies, their grievous' body guards. I mean we all have army's of droids im sure, super battle droids im sure we all have a decent amount, and they blend in well, destroyer droids or more uncommon but im sure we have a few and they work very well in the frontline! But Magna guards? It just doesn't fit, i like the few we get in the starfighter and their maybe some more that come in another set down the line I'm sure, i just don't think they're necessary in battle packs.

Oh and thanks Kim T for the merge =]

Actually in the Clone Wars cartoon, they are depicted as General Grievous's personal army. There is a scene where Shaak Ti is fighting no less than sixteen of them, and that is after a bunch of them have already been destroyed. I can't get a screen shot for you(I don't really know how, but it is when the Chancellor is being kidnapped). Also, it is pretty obvious that Grievous has a large amount of them, since he has IG-101 and IG-102 on the Invisible Hand, and they perished with that ship, only for Grievous to have four more on Utapau.

I remember that scene from the cartoon. But if someone who wants to start a droid army starts buying tons of Droid Battle Packs, their army will get disproportional fast. How can you stage a good battle if one third of your army is a group of independent droids used mainly against jedi?

That is a very good point. I suppose there are people out there that have bought a large number of battle packs, and something like two Magna Guards in every pack would be ridiculous. Two per pack would be too many, but one per pack wouldn't, IMO. The Droideka faces the same problem though. Seing as we haven't seen too many of those in a group on screen either.
