ditto Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 i don't understand why they only started releasing the new lightsaber hilts with the second wave of clone wars sets. wouldn't it have made more sense to introduce these new metal-silver hilts in the first wave instead? like make it a "we started to make these hilts with the clone wars sets" kind of thing?
baby Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Looks like Yoda is getting young again, looks like a baby to me. I love all the sets, really stressful especially my wallet.
The Kid Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Love Ahoska's Fighter, Clone BP, Vader's TIE, AAT. Meh on the Hyena bomber. Hate the Republic Shuttle. TK
Commander_Rob Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 (edited) I really like all of these sets: Ahsoka's Fighter and Vulture Droid: Looks OK to me, a new Astromech is always good. Will get one. Clone Walker Battle Pack: :cry_happy: 4, in words FOUR clones in one set, with an equipment pack, a completely new clone and a walker that looks cool despite of its small size. Will get at least 2 or 3. Assasin Droid Battle Pack: Yeah well, I am not sure what role these droids (will) play in the series but they sure look good in black and with the three silver ones and my IG-88 from the Slave I I can have IG-88 A, B, C, and D.... Will get one at least. Hyena Droid Bomber: Interesting design and sure these battledroids look cool. Will get one. Vader's TIE: I am unsure wether we need ANOTHER rendition of this fighter but it sure looks better than the other versions. Don´t think I will get it though. AAT: YEEESSSS! Finally they`ve redone this one. I would have preferred a tan one but with eBay prices for the old one going over 50$ I will go with this one. The cartoony Yoda is not too bad although he could get a Jawa cape Republic Attack Shuttle: Hhmmhm. The vehicle itself is cool. The LEGO version is pretty good. And the minifigs are quite good. A lot of people dislike it but I think the picture on the box makes it look kind of bad. The Mace Windu is not too bad, better than the LUL-version atlest. I don`t count the other one from the re-issued CTT, that was an unfair move. Edited October 28, 2008 by Commander_Rob
halomaster96 Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Here are my ratings: Clone walker bp:10/10 now a great way to get more clone wars cloes Assasin droid bp:5/10 great speeder, terrible minifigs Hyena bomber:6/10 alright but I won't get it RAS:8/10 the lack of an opening hatch. AAT:10/10 this Ashoka's starfighter:7/10 good but a take-off of other sets. There you go.
commander_kitten Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 If we do get plo koon's starfighter it should look like this:

Actually the chrome hilts are the old hilts that were included in sets up to 2007 I think. Then for some reason they stopped about the time the first BPs came out and now we've gone full circle.
trooperdavinfelth Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I put these in the first post and on the front page looong before you posted this In the future why don't you just check the first post before anything else? WtF? They weren't there when I checked. Maybe I'm... He he... Seeing th... things... He he... On an unrelated note(but related to the topic!): I like that new SBD arm! I wonder when we'll get more of it.
darkrebellion Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 similar eh? Thanks for the pics comparision commander_kitten . I don´t know why the people continue saying the Ahsoka Starfighter is the same as all the other . I think this looks way different to any starfighter we have got. The part where R7 sits is very different to the part where R2 sits in the actual starfighter . I think this is the best starfighter the TLC have give us and it comes with the best astromech minifig ever produced .

Ashokas is way better plus it has 2 buzz droids and a vulture. P.S. I think they should sell the vultures sepratley. I need more vultures!
The Who Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I like that new SBD arm! I wonder when we'll get more of it. Wait...what? There's a new arm mould? (checks AAT pic) Wow. The things I thought I would have noticed..... ....Anyway, I'm beginning to hate vulture droids, and yoda is not looking too great now either. Either way, I'll probably get both--even if just to see what they look like. Hopefully we'll soon get a picture of the Solar Sailor and Count Dooku.
Corvus Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Is it just me, or does the decked- out clone on the right in the Battle Pack have black pistols? I thought it might be the light, but then I checked the bottom-left pic of him and the gunner... and he still looks like he has black pistols. If they have pearl lightsabers, anything's possible, right?

JimBee Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Actually the chrome hilts are the old hilts that were included in sets up to 2007 I think. Then for some reason they stopped about the time the first BPs came out and now we've gone full circle. I think he's talking about the new pearl silver hilts that are included in 2009 sets, instead of bley ones. Chrome lightsaber hilts are still in production, though, since Vader's TIE Advanced comes with one (since it's an anniversary set). I like this solution a lot better, actually. The pearl silver is a good compromise of chrome and bley. Yet, limited edition and special sets will still include chrome hilts.
baby Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Do you guys think this is the real Darth Vader TIE? Here's the link for more pictures: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=349464
slimninj4 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Wow that tie looks smaller than I thought. Almost fits in the palm of a hand.
Tinn-man Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) I was about to post that... oh well It says in the gallery that the lightsaber hilt is chrome, like in the death star set, do you think that TLC will switch back for good? EDIT: Yes it is real, its from one of the guys at FBTB when he went to brickcon. Edited October 29, 2008 by Tinn-man
darkrebellion Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Thanks for the pics baby . I think this set looks great but to be honest I would prefer the TIE being the bomber in place of this advanced. I always hope for a Rebel Medium Transport being released so I think I must wait to see what the summer sets prepare.
Matteo Kenobi Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Wow that is smaller than I thought, that isn't neccisarily a bad thing though. For those who want immense detail on the Tie there is the UCS version and this one is super simplified yet still maintains the shape, and it's pretty much guranteed to be $20 now

For those who want immense detail on the Tie there is the UCS version and this one is super simplified yet still maintains the shape, and it's pretty much guranteed to be $20 now I think it will be more like $30. It seems to be a bit too large for a $20 set.
HJR-Holland Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I was about to post that... oh wellIt says in the gallery that the lightsaber hilt is chrome, like in the death star set, do you think that TLC will switch back for good? EDIT: Yes it is real, its from one of the guys at FBTB when he went to brickcon. Ha! Joker... The pictures were taken on LEGOWORLD by me, and yes, they are real pics. And that is indeed a lightsaber hilt with a new silver coating, which is less shiny than the old one, but a lot shinier than the coating used on the agent sets... I guess LEGO found a cheaper way to have silver parts in the sets without costing a fortune. All the better :)
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 (edited) Thank you very much for the pics of the TIE Advanced, baby! It looks really good! Did it really? All the "normal" minifig-scale models are still priced up to 150 Euros/Dollars and there are still UCS sets for rich AFOLs. The only exception is the DS, which is a giant playset. Sure it would have been kinda nice to get every room from the DS as a separate, affordable, little set, but isn't it much better this way? Also, there is no sign of TLG changing this tradition, so I have really no idea what you are complaining about. I am complaining about that - when you look at that list sam89 posted - you can read that the Tantive 4 will very sure be an UCS set but with minifigs (the name "playset" was written there, too). Since legopiotre wrote that the only UCS Tantive 4 some years ago was aalready 200 Euros, this one then surely will be between 200-250 Euros - so again a very, very expensive set! commander_kitten Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 On the August Lego magazine(UK) it shows Obi-wan with a silver lightsaber hilt on the back page gunship promo. I might scan pictures in!
