I don't understand why the Dark Apprentice mini-fig has a regular face, and not one of the new cartoony Clone Wars faces. For heaven's sake, if TLC is going to completely redesign the style for the mini-fig heads, it would be nice if they would at least be consistent about it.

Everytime I see that new Anakin head, I die a little bit inside. I've never NOT bought a set simply because of the mini-fig head, but this might be the first time.

Umm, perhaps because the Apprentice doesen't appear in the Cartoon and his face doesen't look like that in the gameplay vids? 8-

My sincere apologies. I humbly bow before your superior knowledge of arcane Star Wars lore.

So ... we're going to have sets based on the movies, sets based on a video game, and sets based on a cartoon. What's next, sets based on the Star Wars lunchbox I had in second grade???

I'd buy them. ;-)

I'm happy with Legos new direction. Sets based on all three of these things allows for so many more sets, especially EU sets we don't usually get. I think it is really cool.

I really like the female Imperial officer minifig,I'll have to put her in my star destroyer bridge as the new commanding officier...Grand Moff Tarkin and co will have to vacate to the nearby escape pod :-D.

The Rogue shadow doesn't look as bad now we have better images, the hellfire droid set looks horrible apart from the spider droid, the Rebel scout speeder is a amazing troop builder and now Stormtroopers have something to shoot at,the imperial dropship is a decent troop builder as well...shame it didn't have another female imperial officer instead of the imperial pilot, the AT-AP looks average though I will most likely avoid it due to price and the Jedi starfighter...it just reminds me constantly of Exo-force and not in a good way.

Something in my ears detects a scent of sarcasm. >:-( :-P ;-) Allow me answer your second question: Unless the lunchbox featured something not featured in the movies, game, and cartoon, it will not be featured. ;-)

I smell that scent as well.

I'm happy with where Lego Star Wars is currently, Heck, I was happy when they made a Kit Fisto, Even though I don't own one yet!

Yeah, maybe a little sarcasm. I just think that all these non-movie sources (cartoons, video games, lunch boxes, ;-) etc.) are a sign that the Star Wars license is running out of steam. I suppose that's to be expected after almost ten years. Most of the iconic ships have been made TWICE, and just about every conceivable character has been made (except Admiral Ackbar, dammit!!).

I dunno, maybe I'm just a grumpy old man, but I don't care about EU sets. For me, the appeal of the Star Wars license has always been two-fold: 1) nice set design, and 2) nostalgia. With the EU stuff, #2 is non-existent. And while #1 might still be there, I'm not sure that it's enough to get me purchase.

Well i don't know about you but i can think of a lot of figs they have yet to make, the number of jedi left is huge alone. As for ships well were always gonna get re-designs, i don't always want them but a lot of people didn't get them the first time around.

I look at it this way: If you like all of the SW universe then your gonna be happy, if you only like the OT or PT then your not gonna be happy. But remember this is just 1 year and next year it could be the other way around.

Today, when I visit a local LEGO shop (not ToyRus), I notice that from shopowner's buyer guide (for merchandiser only), there are new sets of SW 2008 containing Clone Trooper Ep2. One of them is a re-released(modified) AT-TE which shall be released at the second half of the year.

Great news for all EP2 Clone's fans!!!

I'm not an EU fan at all but if the sets are well designed, I don't really care where it came from. I'm pretty excited about these new sets, they're well designed with great pieces and cool figs! *sweet* *y*

Thanks! This confirms the list we saw a few weeks ago:

Thanks Sam! Wow, that's a lot of great sets this year. I guess that blows the theory that the SW line is running out of steam. :-D

It sure does! The list sounds pretty sweet! *wub*

You're right, I should have clarified ... it's running out of steam for me personally. I totally understand and respect that others are excited about the EU sets. That's awesome, and honestly I wish I could share the enthusiasm. But to me, they may as well be generic Space sets, and that's not a theme that I generally buy.

Man, I sound old. Yeesht. "You young punks with your Rogue Shadows and your Clone Wars ... pfft. Back in MY DAY, all we had was X-wings and TIE fighters, and we LIKED IT!" (shakes walking cane)
