mutley777 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Awesome find *wub* !!!! I wonder why the side gun pods have been left out? It could be like that in the new cartoon i suppose. As vader said it does not look too much different than the last set but if it isn't broken :-D
Piranha Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) Like the AT-TE there are only minor updates and mods, nothing too major I was really hoping for a New color Scheme(ARC Style), and why is there a weird creature on the front? :-D The other thing is the amount of Clones, if they are ARC troopers than that would be great but standard EP2 clones is *n* and only 2! I guess they rely on the Jedi more than troopers :-D This set will have some great figs, I'll grab this and the AT-TE on clearance for $60 next year just like I did with the original RGS and AT-TE :-P This must mean more Cartoony Minis with the inclusion of Obi :-/ The only other set I was hoping for was the Azure Angel *wub* P Edited January 3, 2008 by Piranha
Derek Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Why did TLC decide to include Obi-Wan? Two Jedi, one Dark Jedi, and Two clone troopers. :-/ We don't need Obi-wan in there. |-/ Yes, but it will probably be like the Clone Wars Anakin, so It's a new Obi-Wan! DP8
Vader Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I think that it's pretty safe to assume that any new figs (apart from troopers) will most likely have cartoony faces etc. It's just a shame that 2 new figs will only be included in such a big set :-/
Legoman Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 i have to say the RGS is a real letdown.the build needs heaps more SNOT if you ask me.it could do without that sticker too. but i really can't wait for the death star, General grevious, and most of all, the Homing spider droid *wub* anyone, let me know if you know where i can find them Movies ON! EU/FU/CW OFF! legoman
Siegfried Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 As a non-RGS owner I love it... but I bet that I don't buy it. Going by the price of the new batch of Star Wars sets for Australians this will cost around 200... :-/ Since I want Ep. 2 clones the AT-TE seems a better buy for me. I do agree with Mr. Mandalorian that it looks too long and the wings seem too short. I like the sticker though. Remember that it doesn't have to be Crumb, it could just be one of the same species... Thanks for posting this Benk!
iamded Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) Remember that it doesn't have to be Crumb, it could just be one of the same species... You mean a Kowakian monkey-lizard? X-D Anyone else see those big flick-fire missile pods on the top rear of the ship between the two engines? ~Peace Edited January 3, 2008 by iamded
Looking for a display name Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) could this be the missing gun? i saw the turret when i first saw the pic so i decided to highlight it also how much is the rgs and at-te gonna cost? these and the bps are the only sets of sw im gonna get (this year maybe) i got all 4 indi sets today :D there grate Edited January 3, 2008 by Looking for a display name
Oky Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) This is sweet! A gunship with Asajj and Plo Koon. *wub* I'm not a big fan of having Salacious Crumb on the side, but, perhaps, in the new series, he establishes himself as a clone wars hero. X-D I'm also hoping that the flick-fire missiles on the top collapse in somehow as they seem to protrude a bit too noticeably for my liking. I'm a bit gutted that the big sphere turret things that should be on the sides are missing. A final point of interest is that it looks to be a bit thinner than the other version, I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but it's interesting nontheless. :-) Phew, I'm out of breath :-) I agree with you 100%! You should work on your typing, though ;-) . I had a hell of a time correcting your post for my quote and I still haven't figured out how you managed to get a 9 into the middle of "good"! X-D However, I, too, think that the monkey-lizard might seem out of place, but it is definitely linked somehow to the new series, and therefore we shouldn't complain. This, and the fact that it lacks the 2 anti-infantry turrets on the sides (yes, that's what they're called! ;-) ) and has two known Jedi on it instead, reasure my theory that it is some specific modified version of an LAAT from The Clone Wars. I still wonder though what is up with those radar dishes on the side... :-/ I was also thinking the same thing about those flck-fire missiles, but even if they don't collapse or anything, that should be an easy mod! As for the thickness of the model: It's not thinner, but it sure is longer! On a side note: I wonder if the rectangular door wing on the left is movable like the triangular one on the right. 8-| I really look forward to this set and hope for some nice cartoony Jedi & Sith - it would be great if Obi Wan had a cool new hairpiece like Anime Skywalker! *wub* Cartoony Minifigs On! Derek Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I was thinking the same thing, LFADN, althought it probably isnt. :-/ Dp8
SWMAN Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Sweet set. I agree that it looks a little too much like the original, but the figs sound cool. Also, looks like you can now but figs into the turrets on the wings. Pretty sweet.
Oky Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) I really can't wait for the death star, General grevious, and most of all, the Homing spider droid *wub* anyone, let me know if you know where i can find them Movies ON! Fordo Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I Honestly hope the figure selection gets revised, because only two clone troopers is pretty odd. The last one had Jedi Jimmy, four clone troopers, two super battle droids, and a destroyer droid. As in the older cartoon the gunship didnt have the anti infantry turrets. Also as far as the Cumb goes it'd definately has to be in the new cartoon somewhere, but i'll end up no putting the stickers on anyway. In the end i'll probably still get three or four of these and put the doubles of the jedi on bricklink.
Clonecommando007 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Did anyone notice the 8-10 flick fire missiles between the engines? I hope they are the sticky ones that don't fall out mid-swoosh. Great find! Remember this is preliminary so there may be hope for a turret yet!
Smithy_Boy Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 the only thing i don't like about it is the creature on the decal and the no ball gun thing on the side.
Sir Schvatts Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Im really going to have to wait to see the final set. I am a big fan of the first RGS and this one looks very similar but to me its not better. I also wonder why is this set $100, I remember paying $70 for the first one. This new one at the moment has less figs that the first, is about the same size, then why $30 bucks more? I think the price this year are a little higher. Thank goodness I did not sell the old ones on ebay. X-D *crosses fingers in hopes for a great looking tx-130 fighter tank* *wub*
iamded Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) Btw: what does "FU" stand for? Force Unleashed, a new game coming out. (That's where the Rogue Shadow comes from.) To be honest, I actually prefer the look of the original Republic Gunship too. Here's a reference pic, for those who don't have the time to search. ;-) ~Peace Edited January 3, 2008 by iamded
Corvus Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Re-examining this, the monkey-lizard sticker looks easily replacable with a Sharkmouth custom sticker... 8-
baby Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) wow, nice ship but i think old ones looks better. but where is the round thing that can fire on the both side of the ship? I like some parts from old Republic Gunship though. & why is there only 2 clones? :'-( Hopefully TLG will include more in future Edited January 3, 2008 by baby
baron Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 it's cool, but I also kinda prefered the old one's design a bit better
Legoman Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 *sing* Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleeeease let me know too!!!I so can't wait for Grievous! Btw: what does "FU" stand for? i partly aggree, but it just wouldn't work out... OT, and PT/EU? no no no no. more like, OT/PT, and CW/EU/FU but what's it worth, it's never gonna happen... legoman
Big T Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I don't mind the RGS at all, although the Crumb sticker is really weird... I'd buy the set almost purely for the prospect of Plo Koon, as he is one of my prefered Jedi's, and to have a minifig scale one would be awesome, not to mention Anime Obi 2 Clones is a let down, but I'll bank on the prospect that that will grow. Otherwise it'll have to be Episode 3 Clones for the Gunship
Smithy_Boy Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 ok so i had a thought. i think lego will produce more clone wars sets in winter 2009. think about it. it will make sense for lego to due that. and maybe the reason is to put little # of clones in the sets is because they'll make a new battle pack for the winter.
the enigma that is badger Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I don't mind the RGS at all, although the Crumb sticker is really weird... Actually, I sort of like it. It makes for an interesting bit of SW nose art we haven't seen before. badger
johnsocal Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) All these new Clone Wars sets have so few EP2 Clones included with them almost guarantees we will be seeing a 4-minifig $10 battle pack with EP2 clones very soon!! LEGO is obviously not using EP2 Clones to sell these type of sets this time around and instead they are using 'exclusive' Jedi's to help sell them. Actually, I sort of like it. It makes for an interesting bit of SW nose art we haven't seen before.badger I thought we were going to see this (pic below from the CW trailer) on the side, but the little 'Crumb' dude is more family friendly.
