The Kid Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 They need many many more troops if theres gonna be a big sale, compare it to the MTT. The RGS is like $30 more than the MTT and the MTT is better designed it has 20 Droids with 20 Guns why does the RGS have no side cannons and only 5 figs! I meen come on! Yes, but Droids are built up of pieces - much easier and cheaper to produce than actual minifigs. This is why TLC can include so many in the MTT and DBP (compared to the CBP). I guess there will not be coming a jedi battle pack or only when all expensive sets are sold and almost everyone bought them. I've said it before and I'll say it again: there'll never be a Jedi Battle Pack in this way. Take, for example, this idea: Jedi Battle Pack - $9.99 Includes Shaak Ti, Plo Koon, Anakin Skywalker and Kit Fisto. Battle Packs are supposed to build your army. Now who here seriously wants an army of Anakin Skywalkers or Kit Fistos? :-| :-P TK
Draykov Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) If you watch the trailer for the Clone Wars cartoon then you will see a clip of clones defending what looks like a sort of jabbas palace, in that clip Ventress can also be seen. So i'm wondering if the new RGS ties into that ep, perhaps it is jabbas palace and perhaps jabba's pet is there mascot or something.I know it's a real stretch but hey who knows. :-/ No, I think you're right on the money about it being nose art. My guess is that this is a lot like the "rancor mouth" RGS that everyone loved so much from the Clone Wars cartoon. My best guess is that it represents nose art seen on an RGS in the new CG series. The SW universe does borrow some real-world phenomena in order to give it that "lived in" look everyone is always talking about (in this case, nose art as seen on actual military aircraft) but gives it a Star Warsy spin (in this case, a creature much like Salacious Crumb, which people recognize from Star Wars...it's not necessarily Salacious himself). xwingyoda Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I've wanted one of those for a while...maybe someday? I dunno. His best chances were probably either in Jabba's Palace or in the Sail Barge...when we didn't get him in either of those sets, I gave up. Never give up hope I say :-P How many years dod it take Lego to make Ep IV rebels :-D Jedi Battle Pack - $9.99Includes Shaak Ti, Plo Koon, Anakin Skywalker and Kit Fisto. Yeay right :-| Do you think Lego would give 4 jedis in one BP ? You know the tooth fairy, santa clause (etc) do NOT exist 8-| *yoda*

BL is averaging $20. and stop giving us R2-D2s!!! we have tons of those already. give us C-3PO. chrome ones too! :-P actually i just want a pearl gold c3po...give us that.... read my lips. No more R2D2 or OBIE. Give us C3PO and Yoda!!!! huzzah!
Shacala Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I think everyone needs to just forget about the prices that are listed. Sam89's posted source ( http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=242680 ) states that these are the prices converted back from an austrailian price based on current rates. Now it has always seemed to me that the aussies have always payed a bit more so I would imagine these prices are a little inflated. If I had to guess I think we might see them something like this (in US $). 7673 Magna Droid Fighter, $25-35 7674 V-19 Torrent, RRP $25-35 7675 AT-TE, RRP $50-70 7676 Republic Gunship, RRP $70-90 7678 Tie Defender, RRP $15-25 7679 Fighter Tank TX 130S, RRP $25-35 I think that would probably be more reallistic range. They could go a little higher/lower on some; but I don't see them raising to the Aus prices that were listed.

He's one of the best Jedi out there + the one we'll get with the RGS is gonna be a new, cartoony one (hopefully with awesome new hair like Anime Skywalker X-D )! Never give up hope I say :-P How many years dod it take Lego to make Ep IV rebels :-D *yoda* :-D SERIOUSLY! Just wait - TLC is going to milk the SW goldmine again & again & again until there is nothing they haven't released and rereleased yet! This means for us poor customers and (Lego) Star Wars nerds that we will end up with any minifig imaginable! :'-) I hope this day will come soon...
Oky Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Lego has said they won't be chroming anymore. X-O Say WHAT? WTF! Why? Since when? I love chrome! :'-(
xwingyoda Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 X-O Say WHAT? WTF! Why? Since when? I love chrome! :'-( Yeay since when since Maul's hilt in the latest Sith Infiltrator is chromed 8-| *yoda*
Oky Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) Maybe the guns are behind these doors on the left of the picture :-| . :-) Without offending anybody, especially not you stealth hunter ;-) , I would like to say that any hopes of there being side anti-infantry turrets hidden somewhere in the RGS should be quite low as there is little space where they could be hidden. Even if there would, it is very unlike TLC to hide such significant parts of a model on a box art. Furthermore, most of you should be aware by now that this is a special modified RGS from the upcomming show, similar to the rancor mouthed ARC ship in the first series (which did not feature any side turrets either), that is supposed to transport the Jedi, so it would be unwise to expect more clones or alternative stickers or anything to come with it either. However, all this doesn't exclude the chance of the actual set to turn out differently from this preliminary picture, although I highly doubt this chance to be very high for these would be quite significant changes, and I have rarely observed such an act by TLC. NOTE: This is an edited post and I would like to strongly appologize to anybody offended by the earlier tone of this post! :-$ Edited January 4, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi
HJR-Holland Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) OK, this is kinda starting to piss me off: STOP DREAMING PEOPLE! Do you honestly think that two 6x6 bubbles could fit into such a space? Even if they would, would TLC hide them on a box art?Don't you get it? We can do without you shouting the odds, i agree with you that based on these pics the RGS won't include the guns. However like others have said these are prelim pics and as such anything can change and most likely will.
xwingyoda Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 THAT'S A LIE!!! YOU TAKE THAT BACK!! THEY DO EXIST!!!! :-D X-D OH no I won't !! Last time I checked the tooth fairy looked like that X-D On topic, I just love those prelim pics because they start some crazy and hilarious discussions trying to imagine how the sets will definitly look like X-D Also its 4 sets down, 4 to go 8-

I would strongly suggest that you edit this post before a mod comes along. Aside from the language issue, that's a really quite offensive tone. Edit: sorry, Vader, not treading on toes. You got there right before me.

Brickwright Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Okay, hopefully this might shed light on things. If you watch the original Clone Wars series, you will notice that those Republic gunships also lacked the side bubble turrets. If the new series follows suit (which it probably will, since the RGS's in the trailer don't have them either), then it would make sense that the turrets will be missing for the set, as it is based on the series, and not the films. In actuality, I am a huge fan of this version. I have been waiting for a Plo Koon minifigure, since he is my favorite Jedi, but I hope it is a molded head, rather than a printed face + hood cop out, but even that I would be still be okay with. Shaak Ti is also exciting, too. The printing on the second cockpit is something that should have been done the first time, and it is an easy fix I'm glad they didn't miss again. The back indeed looks like the possible inclusion of a speederbike. I also like the bubble turrets on the wings, how they are whole, as opposed to the half ones before. The Salacious Crumb graphic is really cool, and I don't necessarily think it has any relevance rather than a homage to pinups in WWII, judging by the kills marker. It would be cool if the Shark mouth is also an option, though it does seem a little too recessed to fit as well as we might like. The compartments on the sides are now thankfully locking, instead of the rather freemoving ones in the first set, and the stickers are better proportioned, too. The one thing that kind've sticks out to me is the rather long size of the laser cannons on the nose, though this is an easy fix, and once again, I'm really happy that they utilized the ball turrets for it. Looks like you can actually point them both forward, too, instead of the perpetually splayed ones from the first rendition. A huge improvement, and I am definitely looking forward to it!
Order66 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 People who are worrying about only 2 clones in each the at-te and republic gunship has it ever occured to you that the fighter tank just might be the ep2 clone battle pack. Come on its around 50 bucks as people say it but if they drop it to 35 or 40 then its probably gonna be a tank + four ep 2 clonies. Most of the jedis are already in the big sets so lets jsut cross our fingers for this tank to have 4 ep 4 clonies maybe thats why its just that expensive.
trooperdavinfelth Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 OK, I was thinking of the fold out hatch and discussing possibilities with my brother, and he drew up a few sketches on paint of where the pod might be: Here's the final one: The yellow circle was either a redesigned pod with a seat for the clone(previously, if you remember, the clone would float around in the pod) or just some missile pod or something. The green circle is one of two things as well: Either a hidden purpose as the yellow circle was or where the pod was hidden. I'm not sure, off-hand, whether or not the RGS, in Star Wars canon, had retractable pods or not, so this is pure speculation. Don't mind the Missiles comment, he did that for the site he made this for. ;-) (my sig link)

trooperdavinfelth Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 (edited) Good spot! I hadn't noticed that. Woah, that's a good point, although it's not another 'window', just some white bricks. Still, they had to do something to get a clone in there! :-D True that, Vader! I bet it'll be that soft plastic KF was made of! Edited January 3, 2008 by trooperdavinfelth

As it looks like the new RGS is based on these pics i would have to give lego a big *y* , they seem to of captured the design to a tee.
Legoman Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 why do all these sets have to be so linked togeather with clone wars??? looking at the current pics, there so CW i won't get any of them...
