JimBee Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 what a dissapointment... plo koons head is squished, magnagaurds suck, and obi looks like a kid with a beard. there too cartoony, and dont fit with other figs. sorry, but i hope lego changes them. :-( *sing* >:-( *sad*
Trudop561 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 We don't need that kinda crap here, large font is not cool and adds nothing to your already post |-/Anyone else find it strange that lego yet again goes with a different design for an alien jedi? I mean first we had a kit fisto in the lego game which looked cool, then when we got a fig version it was completely different and the same goes for plo koon. Everything has already been said. And what do you have against my reaction? I'm really excited because we have now pictures of the new minifigures. Just a question, what is the thing that looks like a slide?
Pigbrick Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (Bobskink @ Feb 1 2008, 12:42 AM) Obi Wan looks like a kid with a beard. lol i thought he looked like a drunk old man tramp Actually, I think it's Conan O' Brien! I'm really happy with the sets, way to go Lego *y*.
Brickmaster Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I am pleasently surprised with the sets, and the Arc troopers look amazing, I really want them :-$
Hewman Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I love the clones, but the cartoon look of the other figs is horrible. I assume this is to look more like the upcoming cartoon so it might attract kids which is great but for AFOLs like me, it's enough to make me pass on otherwise great sets like the AT-TE.
ZoL Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Blah! Obi Wan is way too cartoony and the mgna gaurds looks like Lego mixed with a action figure. The new Jedi are ok along with the clone and I just *wub* the ships! But the whole idea of a cartoon, oh come on TLC, give us real Lego, not action figures!
Looking for a display name Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 lol i thought he looked like a drunk old man tramp Actually, I think it's Conan O' Brien! I'm really happy with the sets, way to go Lego *y*. lol yeah there he does but the actual figure looks like old man tramp *y*
Piranha Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 *wub* *wub* They are all so Beautiful! AT-TE - I simply love those new small blasters! I knew they had to be different form revolvers and I was right! - Anakin is good as usual to have, Ashoka though is :'-) - Rex is awesome! With is side capes, pauldrons, and new helmet with antenna! - 1 clone trooper is pretty weak but with all these other new figs I'm not complaining - Rotta is interesting :-D - The AT-TE and the stap are sweet!! 8-
Icesaber Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Well, I'm a little disappointed at the minifigs: The ARC's blue symbol looks great, but why did they get rid of the other great mold *n* . I liked that one because of the slit. On the other hand, the new pauldron and kama and pistols are great *y* . Also did anyone notice that the ARC has a rangefinder on his helm? Hope it swivels down! I love the new visor on Cody. I hope I can modifiy it to fit on Ep. III helms. The Magnaguard's face looks like MegaBloks *n* . Its body is very good and I like the electrostaff (but why didn't they put the trans-purple cone on the outside of the staff-piece) *y* . Asoka's mold and print are very accurate *y* but the face print looks like a piece of crap *n* . Obi's torso print is good, *y* , the hair is okay, and the face I give a big *n* . I love Asajj's new hilts (wonder if they can attach, probably not), cloth skirt, and torso print, but her face looks like Palps...and not in a good way. Plo is okay. Rotta I don't know much about. I really like the new speeder bike and bacta tank. Too bad there are no gunner pods. Also I don't like the way the flickfire missiles stick up. The AT-TE has an ugly gap in the middle, but otherwise it's looking good. The new STAP is cool too.
Order66 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Guys i finally know what the blue thing is in the republic gunship in the clonewars series when the jedi where injured they were placed into these sorts of healing facility capsel things and i belive that thats what the blue thing inside the ship is:)
Two-Faced Batman Fan Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Wow I'm so amazed by all the steps LEGO has made forward with minifigs. New helmets, shoulder pauldrons, skirts, guns, Assajj's dress, new Jedi molds, Baby Hutt, MagnaGuards, everything! Btw I'm not bothered by the new clone helmets, I think they are a better improvement so now they can have visors. I think everything is great about these sets :'-)
Starwars4J Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Everything has already been said. And what do you have against my reaction? I'm really excited because we have now pictures of the new minifigures.Just a question, what is the thing that looks like a slide? I can't speak for him, but I can say that if you have nothing to add (i.e. "Everything has already been said") then don't post. What's the point? Your post was distracting and pointless, basically shouting in large letters...this isn't the lego.com message boards you know :-| As for "what looks like a slide", if you read any of this thread you'd have seen it's probably a bacta tank, as it's been mentioned over 10 times |-/
OOM-9 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 After seeing mutley777's pic of the blue ARC on page 108, I am alarmed at how narrow the neck is. It almost seems as though the head is a solid piece on the ARCs and there is no head piece underneath, mabye this is to allow for the removable antenna (because it is in some pics and not in others of the ARCs it has to come out or at least rotate down) and this would be a sad difference. I hope I'm incorrect but that neck just looks too thin.
Piranha Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I just noticed that the black face background of the Clones is now printed on the helmet Does this mean that possibly we could get some fleshy Jango heads behind it? It would add to the detail and realism plus give us a chance to make a flesh Jango *y* Is the Neck pauldron cloth or plastic? It looks like plastic but you never know......... The new blasters will look great with Jango Fett I don't know why the RGS has a bacta tank *wacko* I would have liked 1-2 more clones instead Awaiting the Summer On! P
Legoman Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 WOW! this is very dissapointing - becouse i promiced myself i wouldn't buy any CW sets :-( and they did SUCH A GREAT JOB!!! Well done lego! although i'm very dissapointed they are going to CW, they did a very good job on the sets.
kidcharm Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 2008 looks to be a damn good year. I can't wait to finally get my mits on a gunship!
jp-30 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) I guess it's just another example of the disconnect between TLC and their adult collectors/fans. TLC does not understand that we want consistency and continuity across the line. They've never understood this, and they seem genetically incapable of EVER understanding this. It's terribly frustrating. It's simple and entirely reasonable marketing. A new cartoon series featuring Star Wars characters is going to a huge TV event, and kids (many who have never wanted LEGO before) will be wanting these sets, perhaps starting many off on a lifelong hobby. And kids want toys that resemble what they see on TV, simple as that. Besides, it's LEGO, so if you don't like a head, swap it for a 'classic' style or make a custom decal. If you're careful and skillful with some masking tape in some cases (Asajj) you may be able to brasso off the 'big eyes' leaving the pupil only and that would give it a more classic feel. It's pretty easy to customise figures to suits your own needs. Edited February 1, 2008 by jp-30

It's pretty easy to customise figures to suits your own needs. I am not really sold on the Clone Wars-style face printings, at least not for human characters like Obi-Wan (or as he was hilariously described earlier, Conan O'Brien). But you're right; extra Obi heads aren't that expensive, and I happen to have an extra one from the 7665 Republic Cruiser. A quick head swap and he's fine. Since I've never seen non-cartoon versions of Asajj and Ashoka, I have no problem with their heads. Plo-Koon's is also OK from what I can tell. I can understand why Lego made this decision (aren't the Avatar and Spongebob lines done in cartoon style?), and since most of the CW 'figs look pretty decent, I'll probably buy most of this wave. *y*
MagPiesRUs Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I love how you can fit aerials and visors on, as well as flares (hopefully) onto the new clone helmets. Great idea *sweet* Also, the pauldrons on the ARC trooper would make for a nice Egyptian necklace *wub*
LuxorV Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) Great pics of the latest sets 8- Edited February 1, 2008 by LuxorV
Ras 74 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Sceptic to the new mold of the Ep. II Clones. The new faces of the heroes is horrible. Right now I hate the Clone Wars. Guess it all will be better when the show is out there. The one thing I really like is the aliens. -Ras-
Palin Jax Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 (edited) Anakin was no longer a Padawan when his braid thing was cut off in the original Clone Wars TV micro-series. I think it's safe to say that something happens to her because there's no sign of her in Episode 3. So it really does make sense that Anakin would have a Padawan during that time period. Bingo... 2 things then. First, the CW kinda will become Canon. George Lucas is having a much larger interaction with the design team/ directing crew, and it has been mentioned at the official website via the production profile videos that he has even changed the course and direction of the series. Then, assume that CW will become Canon, we must then apply the same rules/formula/motifs that Lucas likes to show/follow. I think Ahsoka might be a reflection of Anakin's dark decent. It will also be a device of the Master/Apprentice motif. Anakin is the most powerful Jedi ever to be born according to Lucas, and was on the path to being made a Master. Luckily, or rather, darn, depending on your swing >:-) , Master Yoda sensed to much of the dark side in him and put the real kibosh to that. Second... I think that this might be a play on the whole Force Unleashed saga. Remember, Anakin has been tempted by the dark side before he finally submits to it. (Remember those poor Tusken Raiders ;-) ) If that is true, then in my opinion, Anakin will, through his teachings, show signs of that decent. It will also allow to show some of the dynamic of his teachings, and how in the future he will interact with his Apprentice. (Donald Trump... watch out!!! :-D ) I think Ahsoka might have a very short life indeed. We know she doesn't appear in the films, and that nice bit about Obi-taking-out-Maul thing might be a precursor for a Ani-waking-Ventress revenge debacle. Just a very wild guess. BTW Ahsoka is a fox... but come one... Amy Allen is way more hot... Aayla Secure needs a figure Lego... Cowboy Up... Or else... >:-) Sorry this is from the way back, but like the rest of you... I had to get a mop to mop up the pool of drool beneath my stool here... Way to Go, Lego... I will now dream about that RGS until she sits safely on my shelf... and I WANT that new speeder... In Black *sweet* . And what else can I say, but that V-19 looks hot. Speaking of that... I want those visors, shoulder pauldrons and Hip markers in Black too!!! Edited February 1, 2008 by Palin Jax
Nonpoint Fan Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I'm mixed on the new clones. On one hand I like that the helmets can now have accessories added to them, but on the other hand there is a higher chance of botched paint jobs now that the visors are printed on. I'm also a bit warey that the helmets and Ahsoka's headtails will be the same rubbery molds as Kit Fisto's head was and not proper plastic. I hate the anime look of the human minifigures (remind me too much of those horrible NBA minifigures a while back) but Ahsoka and Asajj look amazing. The Magna Droids are decent, but the mecha arms are too big for them. Lego has opened up a load of possibilities now that they've released leg accessories as before you could only add things to the neck joint. I can see plenty of upgrades in the near future for figures like ANH Princess Leia and the Snowtroopers. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the slope piece gowns the women wear in the castle theme go the way of the dodo and Asajj's soft goods dress replaced them, much like the cloth capes did in the 90s. The only concern I have ATM is the cost of all these new molds - not just in Star Wars but other themes like Indiana Jones, Agents, Castle and Mars Mission. There are a lot of them this year and it would suck big time if the company got into financial trouble again like they did a few years back. The AT-TE looks like a big improvement over the old one. The Gunship looks slightly more detailed, but I'm worried all those plates might make it too flimsey. The speeder bike is a MASSIVE improvement and may even be a definitive design. The STAP is a mix bag. The body looks more accurate but the wings/flag things that the pilot's feet go on are far too wide. I won't comment on the others as I haven't anything to compare them with.
Vader Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Everything has already been said. And what do you have against my reaction? I'm really excited because we have now pictures of the new minifigures. Like i said above the size of the font used was not good, were all excited but we didnt all use large font. It added nothing to your post other than to make it stand out and look ugly, if you cant understand that then perhaps you need a time out......... *vader*
Sir von Lego Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Well, nice sets until now. he card in front of the V-19 says: release date: August. So I think that all these CW Sets will be released in August. The same time when the TRU exclusive sets should come out. So lets hope that we`ll get some more (and smaller) sets in June... The kids should have the chance to buy also cheap and small CW sets. Otherwise these line is only made for presents at christmas, but I don't believe that.. greetings Hendrik
