They've said on the lego site that they look "weird and stupid". ;-) I agree with the kids, they do look stupid. They're supposed to look more like the cartoon right? Do the proper figs look anything like the films? I've not seen this, so perhaps you could provide some evidence?! Anyway ... you can't take what a few kids say on a forum to be indicative of the whole buying population. Just the same that you can't take a few AFOLs not liking them as fact for everyone. Clearly these figures are like marmite ... you either love or hate em. :-P Time will tell anyway ... if these sets don't sell well then they'll know that they're not popular and they'll go back to making sets purely from the films. On the S@H site, you can see reviews for Anakin's starfighter along with the vast majority of reviews saying they hate the new heads. I don't think anyone would be complaining if they had left them the same. Nobody would be asking "why didn't we get animated faces?," and everyone would be content. I think these will prove to be a lot like the LULs from Ep III. The sets will probably sell well, but that doesn't mean we are happy with the minifigs. They'll eventually see and correct this error.

Thanks for the pics, the figures look amazing and the alternative stickers are cool, if I get this set, I am going with the dancing Twilek!! :-D It is a shame I have never seen The clone war series, it sounds good.

If you want complete accuracy, go and buy some Hasbro :-P Chill out there ;-) No need to start arguments leading to nowhere (even if I do agree with you ;-) ) I was thinking of something regarding the stickers: at the very beginning of the trailer you see both versions of the RGS: the "regular" version (the actual set) and the "cargo" version designed to airdrop heavy cargo, such as the Republic's AT-TE so maybe we'll have instruction for both models and each different RGS has its special stickers ;-) How sweet would that be !! *yoda*

yellost Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I've just read another thing I find particularly stupid on the same page Sam89 linked to : We raised the controversy over the dynamic new Lego minifigure faces with the Lego rep, and he explained that the flesh-tones and detailed expressions were intended to reflect the animation style more closely, and to develop a seperate and distinct 'universe' for the movie tie-ins. Where the hell did they get that idea???!! I mean isn't Star Wars supposed to be one whole big universe in and on itself no matter the media?? *wacko* Why on Earth (or not :-P ) would they want to split it in lots of different lines hardly compatible with each other?? That doesn't make any sense to me... But if they really follow that idea to the end, I hope they won't do any set from any of the books... I'm sure I could do without a minifig with only writings on it.. |-/

Anyways im still stickin to the original republic gunship at the moment unless they change the minifigs a bit then i might get the new one but for now until the release date im savin for the classic gunship and gettin new at-te EDIT: they should also make a clone battle pack ep 2 style and have something on it like "put your minifigs in the gunship or at-te" not only will it make people buy the battle packs but it might encourage them to get the rgs and at-te as well(if they dont do well in sales but probably will) Edited February 3, 2008 by Order66
