Yeah, I agree. From now on, significant new finds should be posted in new threads. So I suppose we'll make a new thread when we get pics from American Toy Fair.

they are so sleek and shiney! *wub* wish they came out in may though...

well, now i have all the early 2008 sets that i wanted: hailfire tank, rebel and imperial battle packs, race for the stolen treasure, and motorcycle chase! i would get anakin's new starfighter just for the fig, but he's already in the ATTE, so... yeah X-D ;-) :-P

Probably not. $150-$180 AUD would make it reasonable for me. I am trying to limit my full price set purchases this year and focus on sale sets. For example I wanted the Hailfire droid set but decided that $40 AUD was too much for it.

I have it on very good authority for an authorised seller that the Gunship will be $180 and the AT-TE will be $150 in Australia. These are the prices this seller was quoted from Lego.

I found some new pics and a video here. The video shows the V-19 Torrent's wings folding out.

Excellent, I love the wing mechanism of that V19 and the way all the wings seem to be connected to move at the same time...

but *yoda* , I don't see what you mean by those pneumatics... where are they?

And that closed RGS... *wub* *wub* Even better than with the open doors... *y* *y*

Yeah! The ARC Fighter Mechanism is like these ,, flip out canons" X-D

But the ARC with his Rubber Rings is also on a very high level :-D maybe too high technology for the 22th century *wacko* :-P

I am definately loving these sets the more new pictures I see of them - RGS and ATTE are definate musts for me now, with the great figs and updates style and sheen :-$ I am unsure of the Droid fighter, however - if the magna droids are good, I may look up to it, but if not I may just easily pass :-/

I am definately drooling over the new toy fair pictures though.. the arc troopers are fantastic :'-) Thanks for sharing.

These sets look great, esp the Gunship. While I thought the original AT-TE and RGS were well done, TLC has really polished their original designs. The V-19: while I like it and think the pneumatics are well done, the overall look of the ship is a bit different from the Clone Wars cartoon, which I preferred. Does anyone know if the design changed for the new CG Clone Wars, as I assume this, like the rest of late 2008, is based on the upcoming show?

Looks like there may be a choice in nose art for the RGS. Wonder why they didn't put a clear bubble on the underside of the wing as well?

Alot of posters here complain about prices and compare costs of new sets to the original sets. I don't know the piece count of these new sets, ie AT-TE and RGS, but they appear to be larger and more detailed than their predecessors, as well as inflation over the years, hence a higher price. I'm resigned that LEGO is an expensive hobby, but it's an addiction I feed readily and with no regrets. Furthermore, although I live in the US, I seem to miss all the sales and so buy the majority of my sets at MSRP at the various retailers. At the end of the day, I'm happy with my purchases, with my hobby, and with TLC for giving me more of what I love. If it keeps them in business, I'll keep supporting them with my wallet.

BTW, if you really want an expensive hobby, start collecting Macross Variable Fighters from Yamato. It'll make a dent. Trust me, I know. ;-)

whats the thingy circled:-(

If you read the topic you would find out that those "thingys" *yoda* circled are the pneumatics that open the wings ;-) :-)

What do those pistons do exactly? :-/ I don't think it's pneumatics. I mean, where is the pump and the air tank and tubes and everything? No, I think they are probably springs. Or could they have something to do with magnets? I remember seeing one of those under the hood of one of the first big, red TECHNIC F1 Racers, but since I never had any of those, I don't know what that part does exactly. Does anyone know what racer I am talking about, and do you own it? Can you tell us what that piston does?

X-O Ah yes, that's the one! I saw this thing in the "Silver Champion" I believe. Looking at this close-up, I think I figured out how it works - it simulates hydraulics: as soon as the piston is pulled out by the spring, the air in the piston is being slowly released through the tiny hole at the top, allowing the piston to slide out rather graduately instead of abruptly jumping out. Am I right? ;-) So that means that this will happen as soon as you push a button of some kind on the V-19, making the wings fold out gracefully like in the video! Very sleek move, TLC! *y* I like it! So much, in fact, that I might even get one of those after all... I don't think that a simple part like this is responsible for the Torrent's high price, though. I believe most of you guys don't reallize how big this thing is. Compare its size with the guy holding it in the video - it's almost bigger than the B-Wing, and that one was pretty pricy, too, right? I know it's not fair, but what can we poor AFOLs and SW nuts do about it?... :-|

8-| Looking at the video one more time, I wonder if this mechanism works as good as I think it should as it doesn't seem to work very well there. But I think the demo guy just doesn't know how to do it right and messed it up by getting his finger in the way of the wings! |-/

From what I can see of them you are right; but it still could be a piston. :-/ We'll probably know for fact once we see the instruction book scan. ;-)
