Jonas Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 I want to show you my new robot. Its construction has been inspired by the robot seen on the webpages of the German company Orange Apps - link. It is their 3rd version of the robot, the older one could be found on their Facebook page. They sell the robot either as a building kit or already assembled. (Both are pretty expensive, though.) Anyway, the robot is really elegant, with eye catching and smooth orange shell. I looked at their videos and designed something similar, but not the same. My primary goal was to build a 6DoF robot that would be lighter and more compact than my previous one inspired by Akiyuki. Here are several pictures: And a video showing the current state in programming. The program written in Pybrick micropython includes modules for automatic home-positioning, sequential control between pre-set points and optional manual control via IR beacon. I am still working on the implementation of inverse kinematics control. Here, I must thank MrJos for showing us that it is manageable and giving us some hints. Quote
Mr Jos Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Nice slim design, the panels make it look good (I don't have any panels). Once you get the IK control working you will love the robot, seeing motion where all 6 axis end exactly at the same time, and where the end-effector stays flat is so nice and brings a long smile Quote
dunes Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Excellent work. I have built the newer version of the OrangeApps robot arm to use it with the new RIS 51515 set. Quote

I provided also links to my work on youtube and Bricksafe. This could be also a factor in their decision. Quote

Someone who created his 6 DOF with the basics of my program (I helped him understand my code so he could modify it to RI). All these robot arms of me work with full kinematic control, and can even be teached with a PS4 remote, it will then find the shortest straight path and move 'smoothly' to the positions learned. Instructions are available on Rebrickable Edited July 7, 2023 by Mr Jos Quote
