Hi legofans!

The idea of the TC20 competition seems very cool to me! Several years ago I already made an attempt to build a remake of 8414. Now there is a great reason to build my second set of Lego techniques - 8207. My father gave it to me when I was 7. My joy knew no bounds. And now, after almost a quarter of a century, I want to repeat this set in a new form.

Please read contests rules. In fact, that rule is for each contest.

I read the rules. If you see a violation, please let me know, I would like to speak in detail.

first sketch in .io. I will try to repeat the dimensions. The helmsman used to be easier )

It is not easy to switch to an even width of the model. But I try to keep the proportion. Although the model is small, the steering was not as easy to implement from the new parts and there is also a problem with the color. No yellow discs! I will replace it with red, keeping the overall style. Also, it still does not come to mind how to implement an arc from a flexible axis (in the original yellow)

I think this steering may not work. That may be a stupid question, but why not use worm gears to have a gear rack that is even number wide? You'll have to make the clearance for it, but it should work.

This question is definitely not stupid! I'm still thinking about the steering.

the first prototype is ready! Yes, the steering does not work :))

As @SaperPL said, better go for a 8L gear rack ;-)

Also: Did you try do use the long soft axle or is it too short?

8L gear rack doesn't fall into the idiological outline of the competition. I think that it is necessary to implement the steering on a certain lever

19L is too short. It need 23 stud

Remake of 8207 set completed. The final stage remains - to shoot the material in a presentable form. With the steering, I solved the issue without resorting to the steering racks as in the original set. All on rods and with the transition to an even width. I tried to keep the proportions and size of the original set as accurately as possible, and I want to say that I am satisfied with the result!

So the model is complete. As a result:
- Width, height and length are kept as in the original;
- The yellow color is changed to red due to the lack of discs in the desired color;
- The functionality is preserved - steering and rear axle suspension;
- The flexible axle is replaced by a prefabricated one of two axles and connector No. 4
- 92 parts instead of 86 in the original
- Compared to the original, it is not possible to adjust the angle of the steering wheel.

Really cool little build. Do you plan on making some simple instructions for it or sharing the studio file?

Also, as I needed to see it in yellow :)

I rotated the red colour to yellow. Not perfect though.

Hi,

I'm unable to see any of the photos posted by @filsawgood here as well as in the TC20 Entry thread.

I'd appreciate it if you could re-upload them to an external site and link them again.

Thank you!

hm, strange...
