Posted June 22, 20213 yr Hi! I present my favorite MOC to date: Blue Fury RC. I really wanted to build a car using Blue and Dark Turquoise parts since MOCs using these colors are relatively rare. It only took around a week to build, but a month and a half for some rare blue parts to arrive from BrickLink. I used a Power Functions XL motor for drive and a servo motor for steering. The front has independent double wishbone suspension and the back has swingarm suspension since I could not fit a driven double wishbone axle in the back. I also wanted to use the futuristic wheels from the '90s which I got three years ago, but hadn't used until now. The doors open as well as the hood. This MOC was a joy to build as I finally feel like I achieved a more retro style and I love using rare parts in my builds. I probably won't create instructions unless several people ask. The car itself is pretty slow but there is no gear clicking or slipping axles. More photos: I used some fun Bionicle parts in the rear suspension, here is a photo of one that limits the rear suspension travel: I loved building this, and I am glad to be able to share it! I am still working on my other MOC, Utility Vehicle, but the floorspace is occupied with items from a cabinet I am replacing. -TechnicRCRacer
June 22, 20213 yr Love the style! Maybe even a bit too 'closed' for the era of those wheels haha. But a great compromise toward the current fashion. I don't know much about the rarity of blue parts, but OH MY seeing 4 trans-clear #3 connectors used for the headlights nearly gave me a heart attack!
June 22, 20213 yr Very beautiful model and interesting color! The MOC somewhat reminded me of the Attika's 8880 EVO Tribute. But the style is certainly old school Lego Technic. Cool! It was nice to see some kind of video of the MOC in motion.
June 22, 20213 yr Beautiful looking car! The wheels and "slitted" headlights&brakelights are just a fantastic combination. It´s a shame that the "standard" blue isn´t much in sets, the models look great in it. My only suggestion would be to perhaps raise the sides 1 stud upwards, to be more in-line with the hood. Lovely sports coupé nonetheless!
June 22, 20213 yr Great car, I love the blue color. Building technic in blue is generally a great challenge, because you have to adapt to the existing parts (And it's also a way to flex on your part collection) And the overall shape is very good looking. 2 hours ago, astyanax said: OH MY seeing 4 trans-clear #3 connectors used for the headlights nearly gave me a heart attack! Same, and the white 2L axle in it.

Yes, it is a bit different then LEGO sets of that era, but I am okay with that. Luckily, I bought those transparent connectors a long time ago for $2 a piece. The more expensive parts were four blue half bushings ($6 total) and one red 14L soft axle ($8 ) 9 hours ago, Igor1 said: Very beautiful model and interesting color! Thank you, I just looked up the 8880 EVO and it is similar! I didn't make a video yet because it is very slow and has few functions and I lost my video editing app (easy to replace though). I will consider making a video. 8 hours ago, syclone said: Beautiful looking car! The wheels and "slitted" headlights&brakelights are just a fantastic combination. I agree with you on raising the sides, that is something I can try to do. 7 hours ago, Touc4nx said: Great car, I love the blue color. Stressed me out for a bit because I wasn't sure if they would be structurally sound enough! My rare part collection definitely got a boost from ordering parts for this MOC. The real rare 2L axle is in old Light Gray, it appeared once in an old Bionicle accessory set. They exist as a non-production part in Orange as well. I don't have either, but I have a very rare Trans-Clear 4L axle.

So I was just checking BrickLink for 2L axles in those weird colors, but here's something you might've wanted to have: there are a dozen sellers that have the non-notched 2L axle in blue...

I've seen those before, usually with BrickLink it's a leap of faith on whether they have the color correct or not. Most of the time I have been lucky but I ordered two 4L axles in Reddish Brown but they arrived as old Brown. No big deal as they weren't important. My favorite part from BrickLink that I got was this prototype:

July 9, 20222 yr Author Small update: I took this to the yearly LEGO convention in my area and won a small award. We don’t really have a Technic category unfortunately so I display under the robots and mechanisms category. I am thinking about revisiting this MOC and fixing some details, especially the sides.
