a 2022 exclusive set? Are you talking about the new city grocery store? When and where it is said to be a 2022 exclusive set? Can I have some sources of information? You got it for $80? I am shocked because I'll never, ever pay $80 for 404 pieces. Sometimes buying Lego is like gambling. As I said I could never believe that the wildlife rescue (i.e. 60302) would now drop to $50 now while I got it for $65 and thought it was the lowest price ever. By the way, I've got the new city police station for $40, which I thought it couldn't be this cheap before.

Was it announced by TLG to be sure that they were going to retire in Dec 2022? Or is it just a rumor that is widely believed?

@ks6349 Brickset gets it's data from official sources, and as far as I know nobody has said who those sources are... but they've been right before, so they're trustworthy. LEGO themselves doesn't usually announce when things are retiring, they just go away with little to no warning. It could say "Retiring soon" or Hard to find" on the LEGO website for a few days or a couple months before leaving, or it could just go "out of stock" / "not available" one day... never to return.

they've been right before... but did they get wrong too sometimes? I didn't pay attention to these information before.

It's not "wrong", it's that Lego has said one thing and gone and something different before. A couple older modular buildings were supposed to end of line (EOL) around now, but are still being sold and the end dates got moved (I think, but don't quote me on that!) because they're still apparently selling strongly. Whereas some 2022 sets aren't selling well and will not get another production run as far as we know. What is true this month maybe not true next month, though! Remember it is a PROJECTED end date. Things happen to change that, like selling out the last stocks a week / month before the end date in your country, but in mine it's still around warming warehouse shelves until it get's EOL'ed.

LEGO might think they have enough stock, then change their mind and do another run in the future. Other sets that might live longer get a shorter life after it turns out the numbers aren't there.

Plus just being 'retired' means it's not going to get another production run. There can be 3 million of a set in a warehouse somewhere. For all we know LEGO hasn't made a match of Assembly Square in years.

This is getting quite a-ways off topic, but I remember Huw or a moderator being asked about it in a comment on a article about something maybe a year back. (not sure which one, it was quite a while ago and I read every article, so my memory fails me on this point) That was what they said "official sources", but not anything further. By the way: Brickset has only been wrong when the info being fed to them was "wrong" (changed)

After all, do you think the new city grocery store will retire this soon? (i.e. in Dec 2022). This is a set that I must get but the price now is too bad.

What @TeriXeri said pretty much sums up what I was trying to say in regards to the sets retiring. Now in regards to pricing, I'll admit....I was an idiot. I guess to me, it was just worth it given that City never got a grocery store and probably never will again. It was a similar situation with the school.

Probably there was no city grocery store before but how do you know that there will be never again? I do not agree with your point about the school because the new school doesn't sell well here and there are often special deals exclusively for this set and the price is not unattractive.

It was mainly from a personal standpoint that I was speaking on because I spoke from the personal experience of getting sets before they were taken off of the shelves. On top of that, I said "probably". That doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Wrong is still wrong. Which is my point. Things change. I also don't trust anything Huw does, he's immature and bad at his job. When people correct him he has a hissy fit. He's not a reliable source.

I'm sorry! I don't really understand your question. Would you mind telling me what you mean? 

EDIT: Nevermind, I get what you're saying now. Yes they did back in 2012. It was when City was beginning to expiriment with emergency situations that were based outside of the City and it was part of the Forest Fire subtheme. However, it wasn't referred to as a command unit, though it technically was. But it was called the 4430 Fire Transporter and it carried some type of amphibian vehicle. I never owned that set though as I was going through a rough financial situation and couldn't afford to buy Lego at the time. It obviously didn't do as well as Forest Police though, thus the reason why we haven't seen an out-of-the-city based fire subtheme since. Though judging from the box art and the construction of the fire station from the 2019 fire wave, I can assume that one took place near the sea.

On another note.....

It may only be a small promotional set, but that sandwich shop is AWESOME!!!! I love how it comes with a road plate; making it very easy to connect to your town - if your town is supported by road plates like mine is and for a small buildng, it looks rather detailed. I also love how its basically a little drive thru for 4-stud wide automobiles (which all the automobiles in my town are) with a teller machine, serving window and a small eating area. Personally, I wish Lego would do more of these as promotional sets. For those of you who are wondering how I got one, I sorta.........kinda.......cheated and went on eBay to find it. nervously smiles Yup! If you want one that bad for your town (There's no shame in that), its easy to find them on eBay despite them being only promotional sets. If you're in the US or Canada, you may have to wait a while as most of the sellers are in Europe. But if my experience recieving it could say anything......its worth the wait.

Can you take a few pictures of the details of the City fire command unit truck for me? i.e. 60282. This is a hard decision because the price isn't right here for me but I am getting interested in this truck.

I'll do even better. Here is a link to the set on the official site. This is where you can see pictures of the different details of the set. I'll also send you a video. There are plenty of videos building it too, but here is a video from one of the greatest faces in the Lego community.

They cost around 2$ each from Lego (sold out at the moment) and some more on BL, so depends on if 4$ is cheap shipping where you live or not
