There was a Forest Fire subtheme in 2012. But it was short lived.

Oh gotcha. Well, I just think Forest Fire is a nice subtheme to “raise” about wildfire like Califonria just had this summer. I forgot which European countries that had wildfires this past summer.

Anyways, I still would like to see forest fire subtheme for Firefighter.

LEGO will never bring the goat back. One of the designers wanted to use it with the Jurassic Park gate set and the mold was no longer good. I don't know how it went bad so quickly.

Yes, but they make new moulds all the time, so to remake a mould should be even cheaper and simpler. However we need a theme/set with a high enough budget to be able to bring back the goat and have a need for it.

-In the Jurassic park set they wanted to include it and may have the budget to do it, but from what I understand they had not the time to make a new mould when they found out it was broken.
-The Ideas blacksmith had so low budget that they had to choose between a horse and a hen, the designers even asked one of the bosses for a bigger budget so they could bring back the goat, but was turned down

The first Farm theme didn't sell well

That is just your speculation, you have no sales numbers to back that claim..

and had chickens and pigs and cows and such.

No it did not have any chickens/ hens since they did not exist at the time!
2 cows, 5 pigs, 1 horse, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 rat I believe  So not very animal heavy at all except the 2 sets with pigs  :shrug_oh_well:

I don't think that's how it works.

If they only planned to use the mold for one set, it was probably a cheaper mold that wouldn't need to stand up to millions of uses.

And if it was cheap enough to create the mold for one set then, it mostly likely is now too. Assuming they can use multiple in one set.

I agree with most of this, but I believe the goat mould was not just made for that set in mind, however several years went before they had any use for it again and then it was to late

I still don't understand why the animal molds for Friends and City are different. Just paint them differently (if manga eyes are necessary) and Lego could cut some costs and give us more different species. Why is it possible for Playmobil to make a so many animals each year for decades and sell those, but Lego claims e.g. farm sets don't sell?

I assume the test groups show that minidoll-theme buyers want those kind of animals just like they want minidolls instead of minifigs :def_shrug:
I agree with the Playmobil sets they are always full of animals if it is a farm set or similar and they often put some in other sets as well. They even manage to make and sell pirates and castle sets every year, two of the first Lego themes from 30-40 years ago that Lego more or less have stopped making

Ah now I understand... I'm totally in for a wildfire subtheme set in the Australian outback, with kangaroos, koala bears etc. beside the obvious firefighter equipment!

On another note! Given that loads of other sets for 2022 are being revealed, some more City sets should be seen soon along with the mobile crane - which I'M FREAKING BUYING!!!!!!

Sorry if that word is inappropriate. I'm just excited that it's not a 4+ set and that it looks so darn perfect.

But this is why they won't bring back the goat.

They didn't bring the goat back for the Jurassic Park set, the blacksmith set, the Mickey Mouse boat. Several sets where the goat would have been perfect. Why would they bring in back for just a farm set? That doesn't even make sense.

If Marvel sets just got revealed officially, maybe City pictures are next? I am so excited for that horse transporter. I hope there is a least 1 horse and a foal.

Star wars also got revealed, city images might came at the end of the week

I think time will prove you wrong  The JP set did not have the time and the 2 others are Ideas sets with 0 budget. A City farm set have the budget to do it, but personally I think it will come with a Castle set (anniversary set next year maybe).
Take the MF it was not a big seller back in the day, but as time went the price increased and the demand skyrocketed so they made a new one even bigger that sold like crazy. Look at the goat prices on BL they are insane, so any set that brings the goat back will sell a lot of copies just because it is goats in the set

I also think they will bring back the goat . . . eventually.

I think the other appeal of the Friends animals is that they have little holes kids can use to pin accessories (i.e. hats, bows, flowers, etc). I have daughters and this is one of their favorite things about the Friends line!

That would be great that City will have goats in a near future! Same for baby gator. I’m excited about horse transproter too. :)

Ok so? You will never know and you may end up being wrong about that goal mold.  It’s just your speculation.

Okay, goat’s horns may be pointy but this argument with  you is now pointless for me. I’m bowling out of this argument.

Bingo! :) I am in despair for koala, kangaroo and other Australian animals!

I'm done talking to a brick wall. Someone quote me when we get some pictures.

There is a difference between talking to a brickwall and talking to someone with sense. DB was using commonsense when it comes to City sets. He was just saying you never know what Lego does with their City theme nowadays. He's right. We don't know what they'll do. Heck, I never thought I'd ever see a school set in City. If I were you, I'd try to understand a person before I become disrespectful or rude.

EDIT: To the authorities on this forum: No intentions on backseat moderating. Just giving some words of wisdom. That's all.

Thanks! I mean the fact that there was no specialized unit of police this year baffled me even more.

Well there was 1 set of "Underwater Police"  with 60277: Police Patrol Boat  , even had their own shark logo.

60277_alt3.jpg

I suppose underwater police and crook vehicle was a first for LEGO City at least, does a submarine also count as a "subtheme" (just kidding there)

Jokes aside, I know what you meant , Sky Police and the others before it were considered subthemes.

Oh yeah! So then we kinda got a Water Police set.

I chalk it up to the huge failure of Sky Police and the even bigger blunder of the 2020 Elite Police miniwave, they saw fit to not do a specialized unit for this year. Maybe we'll see another prison island set in summer 2022. I mean an actual prison set like was done in 2016. Unlike most specialized units, Prison Island was the one I liked. While there were of course still Police chases, the subtheme was more focused on the prison system. It also answered my question as to where all those crooks go after the prisons at the police station are filled to the brim.

I want a prison set!! I’m. Pretty it’s long overdue.

A big launch pad set makes sense, what's a City Space theme without a Rocket (and formerly Space Shuttle).

Especially now that the Artemis mission is being pushed by LEGO Eduction with NASA.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemis_program

I wonder if the Space Station is based off the Gateway hub, so the Rocket Crew can dock, as well as the Lunar Lander that's supposed to be in the Lunar Base.

I hope most detail will go into the SLS Rocket design, 2019 rocket was already based on it, but we're 3 years later now, closer to the first real (un-crewed) launch (currently planned for February 12 2022)

How many pieces?

Based on the price, my guess would be around between 1,000 and 1,200 pieces. I don’t know if it will ahve some new parts tho.
