LEGO have indicated that the new baseplates are the same as the old ones but with new packaging instead of the plastic wrap.

As for police stations, I own all the City police stations except 7237 (and the new one although I will be buying that one as soon as the right sale comes along) and my favorite would have to be 60130 Prison Island (if that counts as a police station) along with 60210 Air Base and 7498 Police Station (last police station with traditional baseplates)

Ohh, thank you! Seeing the new ones on Lego S@H just confused me a bit but packaging makes sense now.

Same baseplates, exactly the same, just paper packaging and the $7-8 price is now $10. Big Grey one is still $15.

One question: Is the hand (right hand) of this monkey movable (i.e. up and down) or just fixed in place?ME7S9AT_o.jpg

No, that arm won’t move up and down, unfortunately.

It’s entirely different to the old monkey, which was obviously oversized and expensive to produce. I like the new one.

Sure, you can send your feedback to LEGO.

But I like that new monkey in that normal size. I have 3 monkeys at home.

the print on the monkey face may fade over time. The old one is much more durable, I have one taken from set bought in 90s that still looks like new now but I am confident that after 20 years the print on the new monkey will probably fade a lot.

I mean, I dunno what to say, Lego has moved away from moulded features - and animals are generally printed now 🤷🏽‍♂️

then the question down to , how to keep the best condition and avoid fading?

Since when is "fading" really a problem for prints? I've got minifigures from the 80s and 90s where their printed features are more or less perfectly preserved. If anything, the bigger potential issue for prints is scratches and other damage that can result from repeated stirring through mixed boxes or keeping figures in a pocket or on a keychain, where fabric abrasion can do a number on them over time. So as long as you keep your figures separate from your bulk parts, you should be golden.

And not leaving parts / minifigure / molds in direct sunlight too long.

I finally decide not to buy 60316, which is the new city police office. Yes, it's the best one released in recent years because it has base plates, I just simply ignore every city set without base plates and buy only trucks and vehicles in recent years. However, the details of the building is really bad after studying it carefully, not even comparable to those released in 80s or 90s, I think the reason is that they have put more details to the trucks, but I wish Lego would use more % of bricks on city police station in the future, on condition that they don't want to increase the cost, you have enough many other sets that feature only the vehicles, if the police station set with around 600 pieces came without the detailed garbage truck things will become much better. Wish my comment be listened and taken for the future police station sets

I got that one for my birthday yesterday. It's not really my thing either. But it makes a great part pack. I also like the little van and the mini helicopter it comes with. Those are being used with my 60047 police station as we speak. The van fits right in the garage of that set.

I have got the new fire station instead. The details of this police station are just too simple.

Is the brown truck in 60316 sealed in a separate bag? I want to sell the brown truck to reduce my cost of getting 60316, but is there anything sealed in the same bag as that brown truck? (I don't like that truck)

Yes! It does come in a separate pack. All the vehicles have their own packs.

Someone is offering this set for $29.99 (USD) for me, trade locally without shipping. Is it too good to be true?\

I don't think so? If they want to trade locally, chances are it's just something their kids "outgrew" and they don't want the hassle of figuring out shipping, etc. for the best price online. Obviously caveat emptor still applies (especially with transactions where you need to meet with an unknown seller in person), but it doesn't seem unrealistic that somebody would be willing to part with an old City set like that for a decent price, especially if they're not an active member of the online Lego fan community.

I forgot to mention. It's $29.99 for new and sealed set. Not used or opened. That's why I have doubt. However, I told him I will open the set immediately after payment in front of him, deterrrent to avoid getting manipulated or empty box.
