@TeriXeri This year's space sets were nice. Wish the base set had road plates though.

Personally I don't see what a road plate would've added in this set's case, without simply inflating price or compromising other features.

I much rather get the included full set of tools, cool "sky crane" parts, big rock pieces, and detailed figures for the budget instead of some flat road that makes little sense on the moon (imo).

Larger terrain would've been nice for sure, but Road plates are too smooth and shiny for a moon surface.

As for the Moon Rocket Launch set, some road plates there would certainly have been nice to soften the budget a bit, currently it's not worth €130-140 at all imo (seems to be semi exclusive as it's not widely sold compared to the other 3 sets which already got big discounts), currently I got the orbital station to build still, which, while expensive (especially in $) still has a lot more appeal compared to the SLS rocket set. (also monkie kid galactic rocket was an excellent space rocket)

That said, if the SLS rocket does end up getting big discount, it still has cool features, and the dark orange parts could serve as a Shuttle external fuel tank as well.

You know what? Those are good points there. Personally, I wish Lego thought of the idea of selling road plates separately from buildings and town planning sets so that we could buy them as we needed. Thats what was so good about City sets that were sold during the road baseplate time period. You didn't have to buy roads if you didn't want to. The price was high because the building was so nicely detailed. Not because of added road plates.

Don't get me wrong, the idea of buildable road plates sounds outstanding. I hope they do more road plate layouts such as handicapped parking spaces, parking lots, standalone bike lanes and even bridges and curving pieces. But including them in sets kinda makes it a bit hard as the building details are sometimes affected by it.

Finished the Space Station set now as well, quite nice and modular (even tho it doesn't have a huge interior, neither did the 2019 station).

Also feels like it could easily serve as another habitation module for the Moon surface base, with the extra beds, food and monitors,

I love the slightly darker blue color of the new trans-light blue material (that's sadly scratches more easily, but the color looks great).

Solar panels are printed in this set, but the sticker solar panels aren't as metallic as the other sets as they aren't printed on a metallic sheet. (thankfully no transparent stickers on those cockpits)

Still, I think the darkblue/gold solarpanel color scheme looks good overall with this subtheme.

All the figures have a lot more classic looking logos as well, and the brick built backpacks are certainly nicer compared to the old atlantis-styled gear.

2019 City Space color scheme seems a lot more based around a prequel to 2008 Mars Mission, with the orange mars logos and color schemes (and more futuristic shuttles and helper robots), while 2022 City Space went a more Classic logo but with a blue planet (earth).

I wouldn't call 2022 a 100% classic space logo , but moreso as prequel, but the logo design on the figures and backpacks is still very nice and useful for Space builds.

Overall, LEGO has done a good job with a middle ground between NASA realism, Concepts, and playset while using interesting color schemes and parts, and the new dual moulded boulders with ice crystals inside are nicely made.

So update on the summer City set reveal! I've just received correspondence from Instagram. Someone told me that licensed themes are getting priority spaces in terms of being revealed. So it looks like it's going to be a while before the summer City wave will be revealed as its not a licensed theme. They've already done Star Wars and Harry Potter - so that's two down and a few more to go.

Snagged that new City Space lunar rover set today to take to a LEGO club "bring and build" night, quite a fun build and its got more neat parts in it than I thought it did.

Very happy with it (especially since I got it at a decent discount :)

That means Ninjgao, DOTS, Friends and City would be the last ones to be revealed for summer wave then.

Last year first photos of city sets were exactly one month away from release date.

So 1.5.2022 we get official photos for sure.

That's if they are still released in June. LEGO can always change the date.

Wait! Weren't Ninjago summer set pics revealed already? That's what influenced me to ask about City I'm sure.

EDIT: Never mind. They weren't.

Yeah! But last year, they didn't do the Stuntz sets until October and the Wildlife Rescue sets didn't come until July. At least that's how it was in the US.

Please go on and tell me how we are post covid when I currently have covid. China is currently locked down and supply chain issues are still a thing.

Plus some of the sets could be June, maybe the train sets are August.

Seriously you will be nitpicking me over my statement because you have covid? You dont see what was two years back? Or you are living under rock?

Believe me or not we are here post covid, there are no lockdowns or anything else like in 2020 and 2021.

By the way China is totalitarian communist state, dont take them into consideration over anything...

I thought Wildlife Rescues sets were released in June across Europe?

And Monkie Kid, which will in all likelihood be the very last to be revealed (since as a largely Lego-exclusive theme it tends not to "leak" from other retailers like other in-house themes often do).

To be honest, I feel like May is when we typically start to get the bulk of new set reveals. So while I'm less of a fan of licensed themes (especially Harry Potter), the fact that some of them might get summer sets revealed already doesn't hugely bother me (as much as I'd love to see what themes like City, Ninjago, Dots, and Friends have in store).

This. We are not 100% post covid yet.

Believe it or not there are still lockdowns and supply chain issues because of covid, like in China who makes LEGOs. Or are you living under a self centered rock?

Oh you aren't just self centered, you are ignorant to the fact that this is a global economy and China obviously matters.

From CNN...

Quote
Since March, China has battled its biggest Covid wave yet, with Shanghai now the largest hotspot. All 25 million residents are under lockdown, with national health care workers and the Chinese military dispatched to boost the city's response.
On Wednesday, the country recorded close to 20,000 new cases -- far past the peak of Wuhan in 2020, at the onset of the pandemic.

But yeah, post covid and everything is fine with supply issues and manufacturing because YOU say so... :ugh:

2021 summer set reveals with pictures showing up on webshops etc, for June sets were 1st week of May, 2022 Winter set reveal were 1st week of December.

I don't expect this to be any different for City or Creator 3-in-1 this year. (Noodle Shop and Submarine are still minifig related sets that probably fit with the City theme)

As for the 2022 train subtheme release, it's already known the 2018 trains retire at 31st of July (and 2014/2010 did as well), still could be either a June 1st release like 2010 or 2014, or a July 1st release like 2018.

Whoops! Sorry about it - I was little sleepy to pay attention!

Rather no comment, I dont want to harsh. Okay China according to you make bricks for sets made in Europe like here in Czech Republic factory... Okay that sounds stupid, but It can be true. These corporates can come up we every bollocks to save a cent.

Yes I love that I live under our rock and we are Covid lockdowns free.  Sadly we are not affected by China lack of Lego we are affected by russian genocide on Ukraine. And thats worse than covid... And I dont watch CNN because I want real news...

Target USA is having a deal, spend $50 on select sets and get a $10 giftcard. The Lifeguard Station and Ice Cream Truck Battle are 20% off on top of that. Some of the 2022 $10 sets are included too and 15% off.
