2 new City minifigs

Surely if the driver was anything to do with Lego City transport then the Lego Rail logo would be on his jacket. Perhaps he is a chauffeur or a taxi driver.

Cargo train got officially revealed!

is the scale of it off for anyone else? feel like need to add at least another brick of height to the locomotive.

I wondered what was in the turquoise cargo compartment. It was an electric car charging station.

Ooh, very nice. Love the look of the engine. And Reddish Brown is a very good new color for those corrugated panels.

EDIT: And that new plant piece with branching stems is very interesting! I'm assuming we'll see more of that in the farm sets.

The one of the right might be the ugliest shirt torso in LEGO history.

Dang! I just looked at the comments about that shirt. It looks like a lot of people agree with me. You think that's bad, you should've seen the new paramedic torsos. The ones made in 2018 and 2019 were waaaay better. More diverse. The new ones from 2022 are too British looking. No offense to my fellow City fans from the land of ol'Blighty. I just like torsos to be gender and region neutral. That's all.

I just looked up the paramedic torsos. I agree, the older ones are better, but the new ones fit the new teal and barf yellow color scheme.

Super agree with gender neutral torsos, big fan of gender neutral torsos. There is no need for gender torsos for non license sets. Just that shirt torso screams 1987-1993. It's something you would see on Full House, it's horrible. I know ugly bangy clothing is in style now but wow it's an ugly torso.

However I will give LEGO credit for trying something different. Big fan on that.

Allow me to make a slight correction on something I said in that statement though. As far as civilian torsos and legs are concerned, I don't mind it showing some gender specifics from time to time. Adds a bit flavor. I was mostly saying gender neutral as far as worker portrayal goes. Even for police, they have torsos for separate genders.

Really? I don't pay attention to the Police torsos that much. Yeah that's not needed.

LEGO doesn't need gendered torsos, at all, for it's non license sets. It's just silly. NO MORE HIPS LEGO! :)

I think those torsos are great, LEGO using different colors this time, and multiple colors and different arms are nice at times as well.

Not all torsos need to have waistlines or breast accents.

And to me Pink/Purple or any color don't decide the gender.

The big factor on how widely useful those torsos would be is if the backside does have some train related logo, it would limit it a bit, even while it would make perfect sense as a train conductor/driver.

And before it's taken out of context, this is just 2 torso, I'm not saying that ALL future torso with suits/jackets need to be like this, if there will be more feminine suits with deeper v necks or waist lines , that's 100% fine.

Example from 60134: People Pack - Fun in the Park which as a more feminine look to a business suit, and I think that looks good too.

I couldn’t disagree with this more. I suppose it’s a philosophical difference, and possibly a discussion for another thread, but I think there are plenty of uses for gendered torsos, even in unlicensed themes. Case in point: Castle and other historical figs. Princesses/queens and common folk use “hips” to great effect, and are better for it. How would a corset be represented in a non-gendered way?

:hmpf: Whats next? LEGO doesnt gendered faces?

Back to the classic smile face for everyone

That would be really great, they all smiled nicely. Now they have mostly grin.

Is really weird to have both of these styles side by side.

To me, that turqoise torso guy looks a bit happier compared to the 90s variant of such face.

But yes, if you take train driver face from that same set/era you get this :

In that one, very select case, gendered torsos are probably fine.

Besides that and maybe swim suits there is no need for hips. There are coats that could just be coats but LEGO adds hips. I just pretend that the hip part are pockets.

My point is that your statement is just way too far reaching. What about a wedding dress? A gymnast or other sports?

The fact is, in the western world, women’s fashion tends to be more tailored to highlight the female form. TLG is constantly designing according to archetypes, and going backwards in this aesthetic would be a detriment to the product.

You may have some personal reason for wanting to androgynize these archetypes, and that’s fine, but literally and figuratively, one size does not fit all.

Ok….back to City topic, shall we?

I heard that piglet is pretty tiny in size comparison, yet it’s still adorable. I’m quite curious about lamb and calf’s sizes  I bet calf’s size may be similiar to a foal’s height.

I just can’t wait to see leaked pictures of farm aniamls!

Me Too!

I’m doing my best to prepare myself for the cuteness, but I think my powers are useless to resist it, lol. The foal comparison is a good one. Perhaps a little shorter in the neck? Im sure they’ll be great, and I can’t wait to add to my farm.

Yeah! There is no way for me to ignore cuteness of Lego animals. Probably you are right about “a little shorter in the neck” part when it comes to calf. I’m not very sure how small lamb would be, it’s pretty difficult to imagine since we already have sheep from last year. Probably larger than piglet.

I can’t wait to use farm animals for my photography diorama. :)

Meanwhile, here I am wishing figures looked more like those familiar to me, Paramedics in Green, construction workers with Neon yellow jackets (Orange is for Railway Working, not anything else!!) Police in black with their hi-vis also. Heck, I would like a lot more neon-yellow Hi Vis, it is the standard for all situations that require safety gear and my own safety gear for over 12 years now. The closest I had was the one year of coastguard, so not especially useful with all the logos on, seeing as I was working in Highways, now working logistics and warehousing. (Wear the jacket or risk collision from the fork truck )

At least UK rail fans can have an orange army to rival Network Rail though!
